Joico Moisture Recovery Treatment Balm

The last Game of Thrones episode was EPIC.  I love that show but I really wish there were more than 10 episodes a season...in between I read the books but I actually think I like the show better. Jon Snow is my favorite character....and he got a ton of screen time this past episode. I think I may have to rewatch that episode, it was that good! Anyway, this is supposed to be a review on a conditioner so let's get to it.

JOICO claims:
Five minutes. That’s all it takes for this super-hydrating rescue worker to come to the aid of your coif. We’re not just talking about bringing in big-time moisturizers to banish the driest of strands; but the ability to actually increase hair strength and reduce breakage by up to 80%. No salon… no investment… no appointment needed.
Perfect choice for: Coarse, dry, frizzy hair desperate for an almost-instant hydration salvation.
Here’s how: After washing hair, apply Moisture Recovery Treatment Balm, and leave in for five minutes before rinsing and reveling. Your dry hair is in for a treat!
The inside secret: We gathered the most nourishing moisturizers around – Murumuru, Olive, and Shea Butters – to rehydrate hair, add fluidity, shine, and movement.

My shampoo is all natural, but I'm still using a junky conditioner (meaning not all natural!).

I had always wanted to try something from Joico..mostly because the price was so high and I had heard a lot of raves for it. But I just couldn't get down with the price which is $18. So when I saw this at TJ Maxx I snapped it up. I got it on clearance for about $5.99. Lately, I've spotted the huge bottles at Marshalls so it may be worth checking out if you do love it and want to save a little money.

So I had high expectations for it and I can tell you upfront this didn't meet them at all. The actual conditioner is a really thick, slightly, yellow, almost balm like cream. The scent of it is very floral and for the most part I don't like floral scents, this is no exception.

The weird thing about this conditioner is that although it claims moisture it feels more like a protein conditioner...at least in my hair. It really doesn't add any significant moisture to my hair but it doesn't dry it out either. It's just...average.

It does claim to add strength...but I haven't noticed any beyond what my hair already has naturally.

As for ingredients....not so good. It's got some good stuff in it but the majority are junk ingredients. The better ingredients are closer to the bottom too which means they are adding less of them.

Ingredients:
Water/Aqua/Eau, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Sorbitol, Behenyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Oleate, Fragrance/Parfum, Pentapeptide-29 Cysteinamide, Pentapeptide-30 Cysteinamide, Tetrapeptide-28 Argininamide, Tetrapeptide-29 Argininamide, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Keratin, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Hydrogenated Olive Oil, Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter, Hydrolyzed Algin, Sea Water/Maris Aqua/Eau De Mer, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, Isopropyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Glutamic Acid, Stearyl Dihydroxypropyldimonium Oligosaccharides, Octyldodecanol, Steartrimonium Chloride, Arginine, Propylene Glycol, PEG-6 Methyl Ether Dimethicone, PEG-90M, Glycerin, Limonene, Benzyl Benzoate, Orange 4 (CI 15510), Yellow 5 (CI 19140).

I'm happy I got it for a discount price because if I had payed full price for it I would be extremely disappointed. I'm also happy I tried it because otherwise I would have been curious about JOICO for forevermore.

Now onto more natural conditioners.....
