Lush Northern Lights Soap

My very first neon soap. Believe it or not this is part of Lush's Christmas lineup. It's not really Christmas-y...maybe a bit more halloween like. I got this in the Christmas sale so I can't complain about the price.

Lush claims:
This soap was made by Wesley, who perfectly matched the colours of the auroras he watched on the internet, and then found a special way to pour the soap to represent the natural light show.
Then Pia, our trainee perfumer from Finland, came up with an electric, fresh pine and lime perfume to finish off Wesley’s work.  Together they will make you feel like you are in the crisp climes of the arctic circle, with nature’s amazing light show performing about you.

This is the first Lush soap that I didn't cut into pieces. And I must say I might not cut any more of them. I kinda like using the whole piece...that and this one would have been awkward to cut because of it's shape. It's pretty triangular!!

So you already know that it's neon, naturally I wondered if it glowed in the dark. It doesn't. Which is a good thing. I'm not sure --the-dark soap is good for the skin. Probably too many chemicals. And for safety reason ones should not shower in the dark...or should they?
My particular piece is mostly yellow with a bit of red but some pieces do have green on them.

So let's talk scent. I love the scent of it. It smells fresh and unisex. I wouldn't particularly pick out pine though. In the shower it smells like Dove. Seriously. Just like Dove. Of course I was disappointed...because I could have just picked up a bar of Dove, it's cheap and easy to get your hands on.

The lather is OK. Not as good as some of the other one's I've used. The good thing is it's more moisturizing...I'm pretty sure it's the glycerin. My particular bar is pretty greasy after it dries. I'm not sure if they are all like that though.

Ingredients:
Water, Rapeseed Oil and Coconut Oil, Glycerine,Perfume, Sodium Stearate, Propylene Glycol, Pine Needle Oil, Cypress Oil, Lime Oil, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Sodium Hydroxide, *Citral, *Linalool,Citronellol, Limonene, Colour 59040, Colour 45410,Colour 17200, Colour 42090

In conclusion, I would just buy a bar of Dove soap. It's not neon but the scent is pretty similar. Sorry Lush!!

  1. My Bomb Cosmetics get a sort of grease over them if they aren't used for a while or are kept in the plastic. I think its all the oils reacting to humidity. They seem fine ones you use them again :-)
