Ol' Smokey.
I love the oldies and especially love the songs in my library from Smokey Robinson. I feel like he was the older generations Babyface. He had his own hits and wrote countless songs for other artists and groups. But not just songs- HITS!
So here are my favorites from his solo career.
Starting with Being With You. Is this the epitome of the Quiet Storm type of music? I think yes. I love this song....It's just a classic.
Next up, The Agony and the Ecstasy. What a name for a song. More music that sounds like it invented the Quiet Storm,...which makes sense. The album is literally called Quiet Storm. I think that whole radio program might have been named for this song/album. This is just a beautiful song...I don't think any artist has made a toxic love sound so smooth.
So...I loved the other songs. BUT I LOVE THIS SONG! OMG! Had to pull out the all caps. Oooh weee. This is my kinda music.
Are we already to the last song? I've really been enjoying posting and listening to these songs. I'm in such a good mood right now. But last song...Cruisin'. The ultimate driving song. I think I heard the D'angelo remake first but when I heard this version? It was almost a wrap. I do love both but Smokey owns this song.
I'm off to enjoy my good mood......and play some more Smokey!
