Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion for Normal to Dry Skin Review

Social Media's favorite skincare line. And most recommended. I figured I would try at least one thing from them..just to see if it was worth the hype.

Cerave claims:

Developed with dermatologists, CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion has a unique, lightweight formula that provides 24-hour hydration and helps restore the protective skin barrier with three essential ceramides (1,3,6-II). The formula also contains hyaluronic acid to help retain skin’s natural moisture. It has a smooth, light-weight texture that is absorbed quickly, leaving skin feeling smooth and hydrated, never greasy. Holds National Eczema Association (NEA) Seal of Acceptance. Fragrance-free, allergy-tested, oil-free and non-comedogenic (meaning it won’t clog your pores). Suitable for normal to dry skin, including sensitive skin, as a face moisturizer, body lotion and/or hand cream. Unisex.

I decided to get the mini bottle- usually if I can get my hands on a mini I will buy it. Just to give a try and not be stuck with too much product in case I don't actually like it.

Their lotion is kinda confusing. I alway thought Cerave was a skincare line- but with the sizes this comes in it seems more like body lotion. They don't really make it clear in the packaging either but according to the website you can use it on your face or your body.

I did try it on my face once- but mostly used it as a body cream. I was just scared it might break me out. Especially since it's meant for normal to dry and my face is combination oily. And although I haven't had a breakout in a long time I am prone to breakouts with certain things. So I figured I would play it safe.

It makes a decent body lotion. Probably more suited to skin that falls more on the normal side than dry as the skin that is drier on me never got quite moisturized enough. Maybe the cream would have worked better?

It's pretty lightweight. Absorbs easily and non-greasy. And unscented too. Smells like just about every other unscented/fragrance free lotion out there.

I think it's on the pricier side of drugstore. Full size (8 ounces) will run you $14-16 dollars which I think is pricy. I typically expect drugstore to cost a bit less.

The ingredients are typical with a few extra things like ceramides. I don't really know exactly what they are and don't think they benefited my skin anymore than other moisturizers that don't have them. It also has "cholesterol" as an ingredient. I've only ever seen that in hair masks. And it does contain Dimethicone- most moisturizers do these days. I avoid them in haircare and prefer lotions/creams without it..

Ingredients:

Aqua/Water, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Potassium Phosphate, Ceramide Np, Ceramide Ap, Ceramide Eop, Carbomer, Dimethicone, Ceteareth-20, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Methylparaben, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Cholesterol, Disodium Edta, Dipotassium Phosphate, Propylparaben, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Phytosphingosine, Xanthan Gum, Polysorbate 20, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, (Code F.i.l. D215763/2)

Overall, it was OK. I probably won't repurchase....but it was OK to try.

Update- Used it once on my face and it was leading to some breakouts.
