L'occitane Cocon de Sérénite Relaxing Body Soap Review

Reporting for my post-before I go back to binging A Different World. I have never watched more than a few of the episodes and now that it's on Netflix- figured I would watch the whole show. I want to see Whitley and Dwayne's relationship. And I've come to really admire the show for showcasing the black/HBCU college experience. I am reliving my college experience with everything from the dorm life, library study sessions, the step shows etc. I really love the show for its portrayal of black youth (and older adults) getting their education and I know the show inspired many to get their higher education. Gives me the warm fuzzies. It is covers many issues the black community are facing even today.

But back to the soap.

L'occitane claims:

An elegant touch for any home, this elegant soap, formulated without palm oil, blends signature scents in a creamy formula. Bring the Provencal art de vivre – the art of living beautifully - to your home and to your soul.

Close your eyes. Imagine yourself at the heart of nature, surrounded by a lightly scented breeze. Let yourself be cradled by the gentleness of Provence and give in to this moment of serenity. L'OCCITANE captures this pure and genuine interlude in this candle, marrying the essential oil of Lavender of Haute Provence PDO * with a cocktail of Bergamot, Mandarin, Sweet Orange and Geranium, to bring you a moment of well-being and relaxation.

Top Note- Petitgrain Heart Note- Orange Base Note Rose

Made in France

I've used quite a few soaps from L'occitane and I really do like them. They are definitely quality soaps...although they are on the pricier side. I do like to "splurge" on soaps though. It makes a difference to how I start my day. Although this might be a soap better suited to ending the day since it's supposed to be relaxing.

So I'll start with the scent. It smells "dusty". It's hard to explain...but there's an odd scent to it.  Once I get past that scent, it's actually a very nice. Kinda reminds of old school colognes. Maybe 4711? I think it's the Petitgrain. Normally I hate petitgrain..but I don't mind it in this.  It's surprisingly citrus, without being very citrus. It's a very like-able and inoffensive scent. It's not too strong- but strong enough.

It does also have Rose- which I think is there- but my brain doesn't pick it out as Rose. It's like well blended, almost disappearing Rose.

As for the soap itself- L'occitane always make a nice soap. They are triple milled so they last longer than regular soap. They always create really thick bubbly lather and they never dry my skin. They also rinse easily and cleanly.

The ingredients are nice. One thing to note- it doesn't have Palm Oil. I know some people like to avoid palm oil because of the source/rain forest...and most bar soaps do contain it. But L'occitane does not use it anymore. The reformulated their bars a few years ago. Other than that it mostly uses Sunflower oil and there are a good chunk of Essential oils there.

Ingredients:

Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Stearic Acid, Palmitic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Aqua/Water, Parfum/Fragrance, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Limonene, Linalool, Citral, Geraniol, Citronellol.

Overall, it's a very pleasant soap. I'll use up the bar- but probably wouldn't purchase again. Especially when there are still so many soap brands/scents to try out there.
