I'm on a roll...so here goes post number two for the day. I am planning on doing three today. And then hitting the relax button.
In the meantime....I made a Beef Stew. This was supposed to be Beef Stew with Guinness but I have a few beers that I needed to use up so I just used what I have hanging around. This recipe was from the Unofficial Harry Potter book and it's a Mrs. Weasley recipe. I didn't really like this. I was expecting something great because every other recipe in the book that used Chuck Steak was excellent. It also has prunes. Which was strange...but I didn't it anyway. It was just kinda bland. And too sweet. I added a chili paste to make it better and it helped. But not worth making again.
Next up...Lemon Spice Cake. Looking at the recipe...I knew I wouldn't like this. But I decided to try it anyway against my better judgement. Lemon and Spice just doesn't sound like it goes together. And it doesn't. I was intrigued by the low amount of oil. But I think a "cake" made with Apple Sauce would do the same thing. I also thought it had too much sugar. Which was true. I thought about reducing it...but then I was concerned the texture might not work. But yeah...tooooo much sugar. I added Walnuts. Probably the worse flavor combination I have ever done in a cake.
It was an odd week for me as far as cooking. Hopefully next week goes better for me!
