Voluspa Temple Moss Refill Candle Review

Have ya'll noticed some prices are already starting to creep up? I'm wondering if I will be able to keep up my candle habit because candles are mostly a waste of money- I just really enjoy having one burning when I am relaxing. Or working. Or just home. I bought a couple of the Voluspa candle refills when they were on sale at Nordstrom a few months back. I tend to pick up their lowest cost candles which is why I tend to buy and review a lot from this brand. I think after I review the three I bought I'm going to try and stick to buying different brands- at least until next year. I feel like I get in a rut and just keep buying the same brand and I want to make sure I am mixing it up.

Voluspa claims:

Fragrance Family: Green
Notes of Cool Moss, Dewy Leaves, River Rock, & Precious Woods

Voluspa invites you to seek solace in the forest floor. Ground down in the healing notes of cool moss, dewy leaves, wet stones and warm sun peeking through the thicket of Hinoki branches. The Master Perfumer herself, Mother Nature, will guide you to tranquility through rhythmic sights, sounds andscents of her lush forest. All are welcome to wander the aromatic grounds of Temple Moss.

A refill candle is exactly what I wish all companies would do. They save on shipping weights and force us recycle our glass jars. Which is overall better for the earth.  I especially wish companies like Bath and Body Works would do it because they tend to have a lot of candle hoarders. I don't really see people hoardingcandles for other brands like I do BBW customers.

But anyway...yes I do feel like the candle refills are a step in the right direction. These are especially easy to use...and they detail exactly what you should do to refill your old jar right on the label.

Once you pop the refill wax in you just light it and it's like using any other candle.

The scent of this is very unique. I haven't smelled anything else even remotely similar. It smells like springtime in the forest next to a creek after the rain. It has a mossy scent to it. I can't really describe moss but I feel like if you give this a sniff- you will get exactly what I am saying. It's a very pleasant scent.

The problem I have is the throw. Voluspa candles tend to be on the lighter side. This is so light I would say about 75% of the burn I really couldn't smell. It didn't really throw until about half way through the candle and it was very light. Keeping your doors and windows open were enough to completely kill the scent throw. So I wasn't really happy with that. Maybe the room spray would be better?

Other than that- minimal sooting. Only when I neglected the wick really. The wax melted cleanly and evenly.

The only problem was the throw. It needed to be stronger. I don't know if that's a problem with the refills or the regular candle might have the same issue. I don't really plan on trying the other regular non refill candle to find out. But I will test my other two refill candles and see if they seem to suffer the same issues.

Overall, unique scent. If you like more earthy scents and forest/moss scents appeal to you, it's worth a sniff and possibly picking up the room spray.
