It's already that time for another food post.
I have to make this quick because I have things to do.
So Gingerbread Cake. The recipe is for Bread Pudding but I decided to deconstruct and just make the Gingerbread cake. The bread pudding just sounded a bit too sweet for me with the custard and the sticky toffee custard sauce. I might make those separately sometime later. I also didn't think I would like it much...so I quartered the recipe and made them in ramekins. And actually I do really like Gingerbread cake. I need to save this recipe just in case I need it for the holidays. It's not technically the right season for it...but it's good anyway. I made coffee cinnamon whipped cream to go with it- which melted all over it because it was still warm.
Then I made my mom's favorite. She would always talk about getting falafel off of the Food Trucks in New York. I've had Falafel a few times but never made it. I messed up the recipe a bit. I accidentally cooked the chick peas instead of just soaking them so mine came out super smooth. And way too salty. Usually I reduce the salt in whatever I'm making...for some reason I used the full amount. They were good, but still too smooth. I made them super big so that way I didn't have to fry them all day. I would try to make them again- maybe a different recipe. I made my own Tzatziki and Buckwheat Flat Bread to eat with it.
And that's all! Not the most exciting week in the kitchen but always nice to try something new...
