I'm just putting off off cleaning my car. But it's one of the things I really, really need to get done. So I will but figured I would do a quick post or two.
I saw Mavis Staple a few years back at the Rotterdam Jazz Fest. I don't remember much now- I don't think I stayed long but I do remember she sounded good. And the line to get in was crazy. I don't think we stayed long because she wasn't doing the songs I am familiar with and I wasn't interested in the other songs. But now listening to these songs I wish I had stayed longer.
But...I do like the songs from this group.
My favorite song from them is "Respect Yourself." The world would be a much better place if we could all respect each other. I hear Mavis and I LOVE her voice. I also love the look into the audience. Music with a message- my favorite kind of song.
Then we have "I'll Take You There." Not as popular. But I love this one too. More Mavis gold.
Last- but not least. Let's Do It Again.Actually maybe this song is their most popular. I only just now realized that. I love, love, love this one. My kinda oldies.
And of course we have to post a live version.
I kinda forgot how much I enjoy this group...they have a lot of easy listening music but these are my faves. Check them out!
