I think this song was love at first listen. I can even remember when I first heard it. My dad had the Brooklyn soundtrack (which is excellent by the way!) and something about the song just commanded me to listen.
I was surprised to learn the lead singer on the song was a woman- a young woman at that!
Of course, the soul train isn't live...but I found this one which is!
It's probably the most uplifting songs I've ever heard in my life. But the meaning of it goes deeper than just an uplift message. I feel like I could write a paper on the lyrics.
