MC Lyte

 

One of these days, I really want to take some time to just listen to and discover all the lady MCs of the 80's and 90's. I've been wanting to do that for years and just never got around to it. I should probably start by finding a playlist- anyone know of some good ones?

Anyway, one of my favorites is definitely MC Lyte. I've probably mentioned this but I love rap that tells a story and that's where she shines. 

One of my favorite songs, I Wanna Be Down- Remix. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song. Now I need to move on, if I don't I will play this song the rest of the night. Replay, Replay, Replay.

I love Poor Georgie. The first time I listened to it, I was on the edge of my seat listening and wanting to know what happened to Georgie. Song with a strong message, I'm touched every time I listen to it. For real, I just listened to it again like I never heard it before.

Keep on Keeping On....oooh whee. This is another one I get stuck on. And it has Xscape too? Yes please. I know most of the lyrics.

And of course we have some early MC Lyte.  Storytelling off the charts. Also I kinda relate to this song a little bit. But just a little.

I love a good diss song. This one is one of my favorites. Some you listen to and never listen to again, this one I can listen to over and over and over. And over.

Paper Thin is me in a song. There was a point I really wish I had known this song, instead of explaining me I coulda sent this song and been done with it 😁

Gotta get a Ruffneck...gotta what yo? I like this song, but Ioneed no Ruffneck...
