Williams Sonoma Bridgerton Scented Candle Review

I had a super amazing weekend and awesome weekend. TBH I'm a little sad that it's over.

Now it's Monday..and back to regularly scheduled hustle and grind. Except I am off tomorrow so that's nice.

I've mentioned Bridgerton many times- I might be a little obsessed with the show. It's one I can watch on repeat though I try not to.  I usually steer clear of wanting collabs- usually it's just an IP cashing in and you end up with low quality items. But I wanted this. And my sister got it for me.

Yay!

Except the quality of the candle is just not there. TBH I could barely smell anything the entire time I was burning it. I had a fear that might happen...and it just so happens I was right.

The scented notes are supposed to be Wildflower Honey and Mandarin. Very Bridgerton sounding notes.

I guess at least the ceramic vessel is gorgeous. I will keep it forever. Might even refill with my own wax. or just use it as a candy jar. Or for something else when I feel like setting a cute but eclectic table.

I'm happy I got the itch for a Bridgerton collab met...and I'm glad to have the jar. But they need to go back to the drawing board on the candle scent.

Glasshouse Sunkissed in Bermuda Candle Review

This makes Glasshouse candle number two..and probably that last four awhile. They are just really expensive for what you get and I haven't been blown away with the two scents I have chose so far.

Glasshouse claims:

A Geranium Floral, freshened by Grapefruit with hints of Red Berries.

Basically the size of the candle is a votive. And it costs $20. Which is crazy high. But it does come in nice packaging- complete with a box and a unique little jar with a lid. They kinda remind of Yankee Candles a bit.

As for scent- it's a very much tropical fruit wit ha hint of floral. I can't really say I can pick out the claimed notes of geranium or red berries and grapefruit. It seems way more tropical- maybe guava, pineapple...

It reminds me of drinking a tropical tea (specifically Caribe from Harney and Sons).

And it also kinda reminds me cheap Glade type candle scents too. If Glade did tropical scents...or maybe they do.

It does burn very well. Cleanly. No smoking- no sooting. It is a soy blend. I always wish brands would tell use what is in the blend- does it contain paraffin or other veggie waxes. I want more transparency!

Overall, it's fine. I think it just falls out of the category of scent that I prefer in a candle. Maybe once I cycle back to the brand I should try more of the woody type scents.

Granado Apotecario Candle Review

I'm excited because tonight I am starting the last season of Outlander. I was debating whether I just wanted to binge watch it once it's done or watch as it goes...and I'm leaning to watching as it goes. I do need a refresh so I might just restart the show once it's finished so I can experience it all at once.

But anyway...back to candles. I have a few I need to burn before the weather gets too warm. Because once it's hot- I'm not burning anything. I might grab a room spray or make some DIY sprays out of some essential oils.

Granado claims:

Granado Apotecario Candle is a spicy candle. A fragrance journey that is in the authentic soul of the workshops of the late 19th century. century, with an intense and refined blend of spices, woods, leather and resins that fill the air with timeless elegance. Apotecario Candle is handcrafted from 90% natural ingredients and a high-quality blend of 100% natural coconut wax, sunflower wax and soy oil that ensures even and clean burning. The cotton winch provides a high and constant flame with low heat output, while the high fragrance concentration envelops the room with a long-lasting and refined fragrance. The Apotecario candle is ideal for creating an intimate and enveloping atmosphere. It is the ideal accessory to transform any room into an oasis of style and comfort.

Top notes: Bergamot, Cardamom, Black Pepper

Heart notes: Leather, Black Tea, Cypriol

Base notes: tonka, patchouli, myrrh

This is a new brand to me (but it has been around forever) and the second Brazilian brand I have managed to get my hands on. Nothing I love more than trying new (to me)  brands and especially those made in other countries.

I bought this one sale for course. I think I paid less than $30. Not sure anymore. I usually burn it when I am working. Mostly because I don't love the scent...but I thought I would based on the description. It's supposed to be spicy and leathery. And I would have to disagree. It's very light and most of the time I barely notice it when lit. It kinda reminds me of Maison Louis Marie vanilla scent. This is very similar to that without the vanilla scent. I didn't love that scent...so I'm not surprised this doesn't do it for me like that. But it's not bad. I don't hate it. I'm just not particularly excited by it.

It's hard to describe. It's just a pleasant everyday scent that is pretty forgettable.

The packaging is very nice though. It comes in its own little brown and gold case. And the candle itself has very pretty glass with little golden decoration on it. Packaging is a 10 of 10.

Also the candle itself is quite large and will burn forever. It burns cleanly. But not evenly. Burning this candle down has been a hot mess. So much of the side were not burning...I figured I would need to melt down a lot of wax and make a DIY candle. It's gotten better as I have burned it but still largely uneven. If I had paid full price I would be mega disappointed. Luckily...I didn't.

Overall, it wasn't my favorite. I don't really feel the need to try more candles from the brand. But I did buy a few soaps- so before the end of the year depending on how quickly I get through my ever growing soap stash.... I should have reviews for them.

PF Candle Co. No. 04 Teakwood and Tobacco Candle Review

I started and finished Bridgerton Season 04 Part 2 yesterday.  It was good. I wasn't too sure about this season because I'm not a fan of Francesca's story- wasn't a fan of the book and not a big fan of the changes. But as a side story- I didn't mind it. I love any adaptation of Cinderella so I did really enjoy Sophie/Benedicts story although it is definitely not my favorite adaptation of Cinderella.

Anyway...time to review a candle. I have a few I need to just burn the last little bit up so I can move it out of the collection and make room for more. I really liked the first candle I tried from the brand- so I was more than ready some new scents.

PF Candle claims:

The one that started it all. Some call it the boyfriend scent, we call it the O.G. Leather, teak, orange.

TOP

orange, leather

MID

black tea, pepper, tobacco leaf

BASE

sandalwood, teak, patchouli, musk, amber

  • 100% SOY WAX: Our best-selling 7.2 oz Standard Size. Also available in a stronger 12.5 oz size.
  • 40–50 HOUR BURNTIME: Atmospheric scent that never overpowers.
  • SIGNATURE PACKAGING: Amber glass jar, kraft paper label, and a brass lid.
  • MADE IN CA: Poured in Los Angeles by our team.

The most popular teakwood scent is probably the Bath and Body Works scent. There are better teakwood scents. That one is overwhelming. I've never owned it but I have smelled it before. This candle is not overwhelming. PF makes candles for those sensitive to scent. So you get a very light scent. Nothing that will induce a headache or haunt you in your dreams. .

But I do wish it was stronger.

I really enjoyed this scent though. It just smells like a cozy, slightly more masculine living room. Maybe with brown leather couches and an earthy/moody green paint. I guess there is tobacco. I don't know exactly what teakwood smells like.

One thing I don't love about the brand is that the candles are pretty much unscented until you burn at least 1/3 of it. It's like the scent is hidden underneath or something.

It takes a while to get going. Some candles you can smell as soon as you get a wax pool, this really needs the time to build up in the room.

It's a soy candle. 100% Soy Wax. I like soy wax better than blends as I think they are healthier and they definitely burn cleaner. No sooting or smoking.

I like the packaging. It comes in brown glass packaging. I think it's pretty unique. You don't have many packaged quite the same.

I do really like it and have enjoyed it for the most part. I do wish the entire candle came across as scented. And I also wish it was stronger. I would only recommend it to those that like an extremely light throw. I might buy it again- but only on sale.

Nest Pumpkin Chai Candle Review

Pumpkin candles are not my thing- but I saw this on clearance and decided to give it a whirl. I thought of saving it for Thanksgiving next year...but then I ran low on candles and decided to go ahead and at least try it.

Nest claims:

Pumpkin Chai creates a cozy autumn ambiance with a blend of pumpkin, spicy masal chai, cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon.

One thing I noticed straight away is how much smaller the glass is from previous candles from the brand. Shrinkflation?

Even though I'm not a fan of Pumpkin candles I have burned through quite a few. Them being on sale always gets me. I have previously burned through Voluspa Spiced Pumpkin Latte,  Yankee Candle Pumpkin Pie,  I think of all those the Yankee Candle Pumpkin Pie was the best, and second place is Voluspa. I think this one would probably fall in last place.

It definitely smells like a pumpkin custard but it's too sweet. Overwhelmingly sweet and that's most of what I smell. It gets tiresome really quickly and I usually put it out fast. I don't get any of the claimed spices- I would actually call this candle Pumpkin Caramel.

On the plus, the throw is really good. It melts evenly and I haven't had any problems with sooting.

Pumpkin candles still aren't for me. I'm glad I tried it on sale...but this one did not change my mind.

Glasshouse Arabian Nights Candle Review

I'm sitting here watching a show on Victorian Bakers and was so sucked into it.   I forgot I wanted to get this post up. Watching them knead and make everything completely from scratch en mass. Such hard work! It's really too soon for a candle review- but I have burned through the majority of this candle (accidentally) so I figured I would finish up what's left and get the review up.

Glasshouse candle claims:

The mystical intensity of Oud permeates the ancient rites of Dubai’s souk at dusk. Traders’ catchcry rises over brightly colored mounds of Saffron and baskets of precious, dew-covered White Rose Petals..

Top Notes: Saffron, Olibanum
Middle Notes: White Rose, Jasmine
Base Notes: Oud (Agarwood), Sandalwood, Amber

We have another Australian Brand. This one I am sure Australians use because I watch a few Australian youtubers and have seen them mention this brand. Figured since they are now available on a site that I always buy candles from, I would give them a try. I do want to try a few new candle brands this year- so we are off to a good start. I've tried two already this year so far!

I've heard really great things about this brand- so I was excited. I thought I would start with Arabian Nights. I liked the name. I didn't really read the notes- just added to the cart and checked out. Every time I light this candle-  I start belting the song from Aladdin.

Of course- gotta link it.

We will start with the packaging. It comes in a really nice box. Very gift-able. And then it comes in a cute little glass jar with its own lid. The name is printed onto the glass. Very nice packaging. I especially like that it comes with the little lid- it's definitely a unique look.

As for the candle itself- it could be stronger. I have the last little bit lit now and I can really smell it but that hasn't been true for most of the candles life. Even though it is essentially a votive candle- I expect it to fill a room just due to the price. Supposedly they are triple scented.  It's an expensive little candle. For most it's burning life- it has been a bit too light for me. I needed more of a scent throw.

Mostly it just hovered in a small area. Now it's doing pretty well. It's not a terribly unique scent and it smells like something I've had before. Maybe something from Voluspa. But I'm not quite sure. It's a very nice scent. It claims to be White Oud, Rose, and Amber. I think mainly you get the amber. I think what sets it apart from other amber candles is it is missing most of the sweet vanilla. Which I appreciate because I'm not into vanilla candles.

It does say it's part of the woody fragrance category...which is a category I find myself liking more and more.

It's a very nice scent. Smells slightly expensive? But at the same time quite forgettable just due to it being so light when lit. Maybe the larger size has better throw.

I like it but at the same time, I think it's quite forgettable. I won't remember it past this last burning. It's one that is nice to try once but wouldn't buy it again.

These are soy wax blend candles- and they burn very cleanly. Not sooting- no issues with the wick. I don't know if they are paraffin free- hopefully they are at this price.

I am still interested in trying some of their other scents- I just ordered my next one. I want to see if some of the other scents might be stronger? I think Harlem Candle Co. Langston or Voluspa Baltic Amber give similar vibes but they are definitely on the sweeter side with the stronger vanilla notes. My pick would be Santal Vanilla from Voluspa if I was looking for something a little more affordable but similar vibes.

Brooklyn Candle Studio Fireplace Holiday Candle Review

I almost forgot I was supposed to be getting this review up. I got caught up in the music. I have a few candles I need to get a review up for because I am close to burning them up. I really ordered this planning to keep it until next year to burn around the Holidays. But when I got it- not that Holiday smelling to me. Definitely a winter candle though.

Brooklyn Candle Studio claims:

Kindling made of cedar burns brightly under logs of pine: a roaring, crackling blaze emanating warmth and comfort. Top notes of resinous spruce and fresh pine open to a woody heart of charred cedar and sandalwood. A base of frankincense and myrrh recalls the smoky, earthy aromas of the altar.

Imagine a glamorous holiday party hosted at Studio 54, brimming with the artists and creatives of its time, dripping head-to-toe in color and pattern. These are the statement-piece candles that would burn at every table—colorful, sophisticated, and fun, like the pop-art of the era. The scents—Cypress Tree, Fireplace, Wild Fig, and Pomander—evoke the spirit of the season, because what’s a holiday party without festive fragrance?

Made in Brooklyn, New York with 100% soy wax for an eco-friendly clean burn. We use lead-free cotton wicks and premium fragrance oils infused with essential oils. Our candles are vegan, cruelty-free, phthalate-free, and petroleum-free.

I think I've had one candle from them before- but it was a mini and I was a little disappointed in the scent throw It was time to give them another chance- this time in the larger size. I got mine discounted since it's a Holiday candle and the Holidays are pretty much over.

I was mostly drawn to the name- Fireplace. I love a smoky candle- in theory. I don't have any that I actually do love and would repurchase but I'm ready to give them all the chances.  And I was drawn to the packaging. It doesn't scream holiday but I love it so I will definitely be saving it and repurposing it when I'm done burning through it. It's overall just nice and has the name and branding of the candle printed on the label. No cheap stickers here.

So the packaging is great. And it comes in a box. Perfect for gifting.

As for the candle itself- it's cedar wood mainly. And it smells exactly like a cedar wood essential oil I had. It definitely smells like you are burning cedar in a fireplace. I get some pine. And then sometimes it has a little bit of a cologne type fragrance to it. It's ok. But not really my style. And after recently using up the essential oil I was a little tired of this type of scent. But I can say it really is authentic.

Scent throw is on the lighter side. It's just hanging out in the background. Not overwhelming at all. I think it's the perfect strength.

It is two wick candle- so it does burn faster. I prefer one wick for that reason...but it can help keep the room warm longer since you have two little flames instead of one.

I do find the candle burns cleanly. It is 100% soy wax which is healthier.

Overall, not really my type of scent but I think it's a good quality candle and I think they make quality scents so I would definitely grab more to try from the brand. If you love cedar wood and want something true to that scent- this might be for you!

P.F. Candle Co Iris Suede Soy Candle Review

Last year I did a great job of trying different candle brands- I think I tried 9 or 10. It's always my goal every year to try new brands and not get stuck buying the same old over and over again. It's good to switch it up- there are new brands that deserve a chance. PF Candle is not a new brand- but it's new to me. It's a brand I have always wanted to try...but it disappeared off the site where I mostly buy candles. But now it's back.

PF candle claims:

About This Fragrance

An ode to East Coast Autumns. Leaf piles, leather jackets, and crisp mornings.

Scent Profile
Top: eucalyptus leaf, pink pepper, thyme flower
Heart: cypress needle, dried thyme leaves, orris root, almond blossom
Base: amber, sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli, woodsmoke

I thought I would start with this scent...mostly because I was intrigued by the name. What is an Iris Suede?

But I'll start talking packaging first. It doesn't come in a box...I love a good box but we are saving paper. It comes in very apothecary simple packaging which I am a big fan of. I especially love the brown apothecary look. It reminds me of something simple and handmade.

It's a decently sized candle. And I believe it to be pure soy or as close to pure soy because it bubbles at the top like most soy candles tend to do.

It burns well- no sooting. No need to foil it because it pools out to the corners. It's an easy candle.

It has the problem that most soy candles have- the first couple of hours of burn time are very lightly scented. It does get stronger as you burn it down but this is not a strong candle. PF claims to make candles for those with scent sensitivity ..so you will not be getting powerhouse scents. I've come to like that although I do wish this was a tad stronger.

Now...the scent. I really enjoy this scent. When I first smelled it I was reminded of scented crayons from my childhood. I think it was a brown crayon scented like "dirt". It actually smelled amazing though. It was the best scented crayon in my collection (I had an impressive crayon collection as a kid- glitter crayons-neon, scented etc). It also kinda smells like pencil shavings-in a good way. And then it has this soft lavender vanilla kinda scent. It does also have a lot of leather to it and a hint of woodiness with smoke. I love it. I really do. It's such a relaxing scent.

I don't see it on the site anymore so I'm guessing it's discontinued? I sure hope not. I would love to have another one.

As for price- they are expensive. But they are on the lower end of higher end products. So slightly more affordable...and I have seen them listed on a really good sale price directly from the company.

Overall, I'm into it. I do wish they were slightly stronger. It kinda reminds me of a better Bath and Body Works Lavender and Vanilla candle   Looking at the rest of their scents- I feel like they are just what I am looking for in a candle. So you already know I will be trying more. I already have my second PF candle and I am planning to review it once I burn through a little more of it.

Illume Balsam and Cedar Candle Review

Now that Christmas is over, now would be a great time to shop for next years Christmas candle. They are all marked down now... and this one could be had for the low, low price of $4.80. That is until it sold out. I only bought this one as a backup because I figured this would be the year I would finally burn through Nest Holiday. Which is a really great holiday candle. It is every holiday scent stuffed into one candle. The ultimate Christmas scent. I don't like many from Nest but that one is good. Otherwise,  I love a good Christmas Tree scent and I see these online at Nordstrom all the time. So I figured I would give it a go. Illume is not my favorite brand...but I figured it's time to give them another try.

Illume claims:

What it is: A wintry, woody votive candle presented in a frosted glass vessel and an illustrated keepsake box ready for gift giving.

Fragrance story: A quintessential classic, with notes of rich oak moss, cinnamon and eucalyptus.

Style: Woody and aromatic.

Notes:

- Top: oak moss

- Middle: cinnamon

- Base: eucalyptus

  • 2 3/4" x 2 1/4"
  • 25-hour approximate burn time
  • Vegetable-wax blend/fragrance oil/cotton wick/glass
  • Made in the USA of imported materials

This is mostly a tree scent- with a few other Holiday smells thrown in- like cinnamon. It's similar to Nest Holiday but not quite as crisp. And not as big of throw but the candle is smaller. Although it is small it does eventually fill my living room which is great. Some votives have horrible throw and only scent the immediate area around it. It can take a little bit of time to build up thought.

It's a very nice scent though and it also perfectly captures the scent of Christmas. If I had to choose though I would go with Nest Holiday over this one. But  if I wanted something small just to burn through the holidays and not break the bank- I would get this again!

I haven't had any issues with this little candle at all. No sooting but it does burn pretty quickly so I felt I did have to stay on top of trimming the wick. It's supposed to be a vegetable wax. Not sure if it's paraffin free- candle brands never state that for some reason.

It's very festive and comes in the perfect packaging to gift. It comes with different sayings on it so you have options. Mine says "Peace on Earth". I just picked one.

There's not much else to say about it except it's a nice and probably the first candle from Illume that I really enjoyed!

Maison Louis Marie No. 03 L'étang Noir Soy Candle Review

One more post for the day....figured I would go ahead and review the Maison Louis Marie candle in my collection before I start lighting up the Holiday scents. This makes MLM candle no. 03. The last one I tried was a huge disappointment- it smelled great but had no throw. This one does at least throw.

Maison Louis Marie claims:

Airy smoke, soft spice, and a whisper of vanilla

L’Étang Noir takes its name from an enchanted black lake where my childhood days were spent fishing, exploring, and slipping into stillness. This deep, nostalgic scent opens with soft tobacco flower and unfolds into warm vanilla, anise, clove, and nutmeg — a rich, spiced blend that lingers with quiet intensity.

Top Notes:

Anise, Nutmeg, Tobacco Flower

Middle Notes:

Clove, Ginger, Vanilla

Base Notes:

Vanilla, Tonka, Benzoin Musk

These are on the lower end of luxury but still pretty pricey because it still is only one candle. It is a soy candle. And the branding is nice- it comes in a box and the candle has the brand printed on the glass. Would make a great gift candle.

The notes on this are pretty intriguing. From what I'm gathering it's supposed to be a spiced vanilla with a hint of tobacco. I'm not a big fan of vanilla scents- there are exceptions every now and again depending on what it's mixed with but usually vanilla doesn't do it for me. I don't love the cold throw but it does smell better when you light it up.

It definitely gets sweeter as you burn. I don't get much of the spice notes- but I think I get the tobacco. It's just OK for me. It's not one I would purchase again- but I'll kinda enjoy burning through the rest of it.

Unlike the last MLM candle I bought, this one does have throw. It scents my living room and drifts out into the hallway. It is one that I don't smell constantly- mostly  I get it when I leave the room and walk back in. It's still there- I just tend to go nose blind to it after a little while but I do get whiffs of it every now and again.

It's a soy candle. I'm not sure if it's paraffin free. I wish candle brands were more transparent. I haven't had any issues with the burn...no sooting and for the most part it burns to the edges when the room is warm enough.

Overall, it isn't something I would purchase again. It wasn't bad...and if you like vanilla scents you may enjoy it more than I did. But it wasn't really worth the cost for me. Some MLM scents come in a boatload of other forms- this one only comes in perfume oil form.

Le Labo Figue 15 Candle Review

I have finally finished playing through all the Just Dance songs from the newest game....for some reason so many of the songs seem ridiculously boring. Not the songs- but the routines. It seems like they phoned most everything in which is disappointing- again. But maybe some of it will grow on me. I know I like at least 5 of the songs/routines. But it should be a lot more.

Anyway...today we talk candles. Luxury candles.

Le Labo claims:

: A musky candle featuring notes of figue, blackcurrent and amber. It was developed with a high dose of fragrance oils, a custom blend of waxes and natural fiber wicks to ensure a beautiful olfactive experience.

Why is it that everyone who does candles has a figue in their collection? We don’t know. But we know, that when you smell our figue, you’ll understand why we have one. It’s not a straight figue but a figue/blackcurrent blend that makes you want to eat the wax. Please refrain from doing so.

Our candles are developed with a high dose of fragrance oils, a custom blend of waxes, and wicks constructed with natural fibers to ensure a beautiful olfactive experience. Carefully crafted by hand in the US, these candles are packaged in glass vessels and tucked into our classic kraft box with a personalized label. Please read the instructions before use and don’t forget to trim the wicks after burning!
Made in USA

This is not my first Le Labo candle. I have splurged before. I bought the infamous Santal 26 candle. I will only buy these with a gift card. I think I had a $50 Gift Card. So I got this for a bargain. Kinda.

Fig scents are everywhere lately. Which is confusing to me, because figs do not have a scent to me. Idk if you have to go smell the trees- but my parents did plant a baby fig tree and I visited it over the summer and didn't notice anyway. When figs are in season I buy a massive amount...so it's not like I am unfamiliar with the fruit. So it doesn't smell like any fig scent I have ever smelled. But...most higher end fig scents do smell a bit similar.

The only other fig candle I have smelled was from Voluspa and Nest.  And they were fine. But this was an experience.

It doesn't really tell you what the notes are outside of fig/black current. And amber. But it smells like a coast line, with the "fig" scent that you find in fig scents. It's woody, and sweet. And I get some saltiness like if you were standing on a boat and just breathing in a beautiful breeze on a cloudy, chilly, yet summery day. That makes no sense. But it does if you smell it.

I'm always surprised when I leave the room and come back and catch whiffs. I get a little confused about where I am and kinda get surprised that such a scent could come from a candle and that I am still only in my living room.

There aren't many candle that do that. It's pretty special in that way.

But it's been giving me trouble. I have been keeping up with the candle care and trimming the wick- but after one burn maybe I trimmed too much. The candle started barely burning. I had to dig some wax out until I just stuck another wick in to try and get it to burn better. Which worked. I'm glad I could fix it. I do think the wick should be thicker. A candle of this price should be a flawless, stress free experience.

I don't know what the wax is- they don't say. But it burns slowly so the candle will last. I hope it's paraffin free- but they don't say.

The only other thing I want to complain about- packaging. My label came with a black smudge on it. Also they like to put the label on sloppily. The scents were made with care- but the candle assembly really was not. Le Labo needs to do better for this price range.

This was definitely a candle worth trying because it truly was an experience in a way that most candles have not been. Would I buy it again- probably not. The price is hard to swallow. But I will enjoy this candle down to the last wax and when I get my hands on another gift card I will probably pick up another Le Labo candle- just in a different scent.

Maison Louis Marie Le Long Fond Candle Review

Last review of the night....figured we would review this candle. I've been trying to hold off to see if this candle get's any better as it burns down but I am already more than half way done with the candle...and it's still basically unscented.

Maison Louis Marie claims:

Le Long Fond is named after our family’s beloved nursery in Belgium, founded by our grandfather in 1979 and still thriving today. This grounding fragrance evokes the stillness of forest walks—where soft light filters through Hinoki trees—layering crisp wood, velvety cedar, and earthy patchouli over a warm base of white musk. A quietly powerful scent, rooted in memory and calm.Top Notes:

                                                                    Top Notes:  Hinoki Wood

                                                        Middle Notes:

Cedarwood, Patchouli

                                                                    Base Notes:

White Musk

The cold scent of the candle was so good. I would love a candle, hand soap, or to even try the perfume oil  in this because it really does smell lovely. I was really excited to light it up and see what it was working with.

Nothing.

It's working with nothing. Great cold scent- essentially unscented when burning. If you get really close it now that it is more than halfway gone, you can smell it in the immediate area of the candle. Other than that- nothing. Not what I expect for a candle that costs $38.00. It's on the lower end of luxury but that's still pretty high to be a complete miss.

It claims a lot of woody notes and usually I don't love woody notes in candles- yet I love this. But I don't know if I would have necessarily described it as woody.

I also notice the wick on this one likes to mushroom and then soot a bit quicker than I noticed the previous candle from this brand.

Just problems all around.

It's a soy wax blend. I don't know if that means paraffin free. But it does feel like a mostly soy blend from my limited experience with the difference waxes. It does also seem ot have a nice slow burn.

Packaging is nice. The name is printed on the candle glass. I love to see that. Feels nicer than a sticker. Not many brands do the printing. It also comes in a really nice giftable box.

A disappointment through and through. I don't think this is the normal experience for their candles as I have used one previously and it was pretty great and I have No.3 as well- which also seems decent. So maybe it was just this one...

Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia Candle Review

Have ya'll been following the craze for the Starbucks Teddy Bear cup?

I mean the cup is really cute and everything but is it worth over $30? Is it worth waking up at 2 and 3 in the AM to camp outside the store?  From the vids I've seen people are doing all that and still not getting a cup because the employees are buying them up. And Starbucks is only sending 1-4 cups to each store. But to each his own I guess. I've never been into Starbucks, I am team I have coffee/tea at home. I'm sure it's saved me tons of money over the years. Money I guess I then spend on candles 😬

But anywho my last post for today is going to be candle review. I treat myself to a luxury candle every now and again and burn it a few hours on the weekend to make it stretch. It's a nice treat.

Jo Malone claims:
Fill the room with orchards steeped in golden sunshine, warming the russet curves of luscious pears. The sensuous freshness of the just-ripe fruit wrapped in elegant white freesias. Crafted in the British countryside in a travel-sized glass design.

This scent is part of our joyful and inviting home edit. Perfect for welcoming friends and family for informal gatherings, providing playful, elegant or opulent notes to draw them in.

English Pear & Freesia by Jo Malone London is a Chypre Fruity fragrance for women. English Pear & Freesia was launched in 2010. The nose behind this fragrance is Christine Nagel. Top notes are Pear and Melon; middle notes are Freesia and Rose; base notes are Musk, Patchouli, Rhuburb and Amber.

I started with the Peony and Blushed Suede scent because I bought it at a steep discount because the price is really insane. I usually use a coupon or saved up Nordstrom bucks to make the price a little easier to swallow.

I really liked this candle up  until I used the perfume. It does smell related to the Peony one. They are different but you can tell they are made by the same brand. It's a nice scent.   But there's just a note about it that throws it off for me. So when I first light it I'm thinking "Oooh what a beautiful fancy floral". Then as I keep sniffing there is just a note of something that I can't quite put my finger on that I just don't like. It's not horrendous, but given the price I want to love it.

I wouldn't have immediately thought it was pear. And I can't say I really know the scent of Freesia (even though I just finished up a Freesia soap not so long ago!). Some scents just take your somewhere else or just across extra special because they capture a feeling. That's what I expect from luxury candles and this one doesn't really do that to me. I want to feel I'm on the orchard surrounded by gorgeous flowers.

From what I have read this scent is one of their most popular scents. It came out in 2010 so I consider it a newer scent. That actually surprises me because I thought Jo Malone was an even newer brand.

The packaging is nice. Very gift-able. It comes in a nice box. It's not a large candle for the price...but it does seem to burn a long time.

I've had some trouble with burning the candle. I think at some point I trimmed the wick too much..and it's been slow burning and I have had to dig out some of the wax to keep it going. I think the wick is slightly too small for these candles and how hard the wax is. So that doesn't feel very luxury.

As for type of wax- they don't say. I'm thinking a blend with majority paraffin which is not my favorite type of wax.

It's also not my favorite scent. For me the candle overall was not worth it..I would still buy another scent from the brand later on. I'm particularly interested in the Wood Sage and Sea Salt but I probably won't be buying that one for quite awhile.

Clinique Happy Scented Home Candle Review

I did not like the Clinique Happy perfume at all so when I saw the candle version of the scent- I didn't want it at all. But then it went on sale for around $25 so I picked it up. I think the original price is $50. I figured I hd nothing to lose.

Clinique claims:

A limited-edition candle fragranced with Clinique's signature scent. Clinique Happy balances vibrant notes of grapefruit and bergamot with sensual Hawaiian wedding flower and spring mimosa for a scent that sparkles with sheer delight.

  • Features

    • KEY NOTES:
    • Top: Ruby Red Grapefruit, Mandarin, Bergamot; Middle: Hawaiian Wedding Flower, Morning Dew Orchid; Base: Mimosa, Transparent Wood Accord
    • WARNING: Always burn candle within sight and place candle away from curtains or other flammable materials. Position on a flat heat-resistant surface.
    • WARNING: Keep candle away from children and pets.

I really enjoy this candle. I wish I had picked up a couple more but they sold out fast! The perfume does not smell as good as this candle and I don't know why. There is just something about the perfume that was off for me. It's very fresh yet very floral. But very fresh and modern floral. Every time I get a conscious whiff of it I'm like "Oooh what's smells so good?" Then I  would remember I had this candle going. Looking at the notes, I won't be able to pick out what notes I smell. I just know that they all come together and smell amazing. It really reminds of of Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue- just in candle form.

Why didn't I pick up another?

The packaging is also great. It comes in a nice quality frosted glass with the name printed on it. I always like the when the candle has a printing over a sticker. It just feels better thought out. Attention to detail matters. Especially at this price point. It also comes in a nice box so it would be perfect for gift giving!

The throw is there- you can definitely smell it. It's not one I go nose blind to. It's not overpowering either-it is there in the background making the room smell good. I think it does great in a medium to large room. Probably wouldn't do so great in a large room with high ceilings..but it works well in my space.

You do have to make sure you trim the wick or else you will get some sooting. I had a little when I let it burn too long but that was my fault.

Usually daytime fresh candles are not my vibe but I really enjoyed this one and I wish I had bought more. It's too bad it was limited edition. If you happen to see it in a discount store- grab it! I think this one was totally worth it. It might be my favorite Clinique product I have tried!

Kave Home Scented Candle in 01 Soft Jasmine Review

One more review- I'm almost done with this candle. i'm hoping to burn the rest of it tonight so I can throw it in the recycle. I bought this candle at my favorite furniture store. I never really payed much attention to their candle offerings but the cold throw of this candle was irresistible. It has a true Jasmine scent on cold throw and so it had to go home with me.

Kave Candles claims:

Subtle and charming, Soft Jasmin envelops us with floral and fruity notes, combined with a delicate powdery touch. A fragrance that invites us on a sensory journey through a garden in bloom bringing a sense of harmony to your room.

Made in Spain

The packaging and the glass are all really nice and seem to be good quality.

The only probably I have is the scent. It took a while for the Jasmin scent to get going. And when it did, I kind of get a bit of the Jasmine..and hot dog water. It smells like floral hot dog water. Goes without saying I really don't enjoy it.

I'm so glad I only picked up the one. I thought maybe I would give some of the other scents a go- but after this..probably not.

It's is supposed to be veggie wax. It doesn't mention having paraffin...but I wouldn't be surprised if there is at least some blended in.

I'm not a fan. I would recommend my favorite Jasmine Candle from Voluspa over this any day.

Maison Margiela Replica Bubble Bath Candle Review

The last Replica candle from the set I bought a couple weeks ago. All the candles came ruined but I was able to dig some of the wax out and fix them. And I did get my money back so it wasn't a great big loss.  I fixed them we'll enough to light and burn them...had to dig out and reposition the wax...not the luxury experience I was looking for...ah well.

This scented candle is an invitation for a me time of pure wellness. It will make you imagine yourself plunging into the bubbles of a hots scented bath, feeling your body soothed from all tensions.

It just so happens that I saved my least favorite for last.

I sniffed this cold---and it smelled kind of good except one note of something that threw me off. I would describe it more but I can barely remember. It smells pleasant enough on cold throw throw and does remind me of a bubble bath type of scent.

Mostly I'm not a fan of this one because its whole candle life I could barely smell it. You have to be next to this one to smell it. It doesn't fill a room...it just does a whole lot of nothing.

For the price- unacceptable.

So 2/3 candles were much better quality and something I could at least smell. I was expecting a 3/3 great experience though.

It's probably best suited to a small bathroom.

One thing I find interesting about the brand is the information on the label. They do recent time periods- Beverly Hills 2005. Does it smell like that time period? I wouldn't know but I don't think so.

If I could smell it, maybe I would have liked it more. As it stands it was my least favorite of the set I bought.

Have you tried any of the Replica candles..which was your favorite?
