Le Labo Figue 15 Candle Review

I have finally finished playing through all the Just Dance songs from the newest game....for some reason so many of the songs seem ridiculously boring. Not the songs- but the routines. It seems like they phoned most everything in which is disappointing- again. But maybe some of it will grow on me. I know I like at least 5 of the songs/routines. But it should be a lot more.

Anyway...today we talk candles. Luxury candles.

Le Labo claims:

: A musky candle featuring notes of figue, blackcurrent and amber. It was developed with a high dose of fragrance oils, a custom blend of waxes and natural fiber wicks to ensure a beautiful olfactive experience.

Why is it that everyone who does candles has a figue in their collection? We don’t know. But we know, that when you smell our figue, you’ll understand why we have one. It’s not a straight figue but a figue/blackcurrent blend that makes you want to eat the wax. Please refrain from doing so.

Our candles are developed with a high dose of fragrance oils, a custom blend of waxes, and wicks constructed with natural fibers to ensure a beautiful olfactive experience. Carefully crafted by hand in the US, these candles are packaged in glass vessels and tucked into our classic kraft box with a personalized label. Please read the instructions before use and don’t forget to trim the wicks after burning!
Made in USA

This is not my first Le Labo candle. I have splurged before. I bought the infamous Santal 26 candle. I will only buy these with a gift card. I think I had a $50 Gift Card. So I got this for a bargain. Kinda.

Fig scents are everywhere lately. Which is confusing to me, because figs do not have a scent to me. Idk if you have to go smell the trees- but my parents did plant a baby fig tree and I visited it over the summer and didn't notice anyway. When figs are in season I buy a massive amount...so it's not like I am unfamiliar with the fruit. So it doesn't smell like any fig scent I have ever smelled. But...most higher end fig scents do smell a bit similar.

The only other fig candle I have smelled was from Voluspa and Nest.  And they were fine. But this was an experience.

It doesn't really tell you what the notes are outside of fig/black current. And amber. But it smells like a coast line, with the "fig" scent that you find in fig scents. It's woody, and sweet. And I get some saltiness like if you were standing on a boat and just breathing in a beautiful breeze on a cloudy, chilly, yet summery day. That makes no sense. But it does if you smell it.

I'm always surprised when I leave the room and come back and catch whiffs. I get a little confused about where I am and kinda get surprised that such a scent could come from a candle and that I am still only in my living room.

There aren't many candle that do that. It's pretty special in that way.

But it's been giving me trouble. I have been keeping up with the candle care and trimming the wick- but after one burn maybe I trimmed too much. The candle started barely burning. I had to dig some wax out until I just stuck another wick in to try and get it to burn better. Which worked. I'm glad I could fix it. I do think the wick should be thicker. A candle of this price should be a flawless, stress free experience.

I don't know what the wax is- they don't say. But it burns slowly so the candle will last. I hope it's paraffin free- but they don't say.

The only other thing I want to complain about- packaging. My label came with a black smudge on it. Also they like to put the label on sloppily. The scents were made with care- but the candle assembly really was not. Le Labo needs to do better for this price range.

This was definitely a candle worth trying because it truly was an experience in a way that most candles have not been. Would I buy it again- probably not. The price is hard to swallow. But I will enjoy this candle down to the last wax and when I get my hands on another gift card I will probably pick up another Le Labo candle- just in a different scent.

Nest Mediterranean Fig Candle Review

I used to do quite a few candle reviews, then all of the sudden I just quit buying them. Well, really I just traded them for a diffuser and essential oils. But...for some reason I just really wanted a candle. It makes a nice decoration and just adds to the room atmosphere when lit.

Nest claims:

Capture the aromas of the lush Mediterranean landscape with this 3-Wick Candle featuring crushed fig leaves and blue cypress mingled with the essence of turquoise waters and dewy violet.

Fragrance Family

Scent Type
Fruity Woody
Key Notes

Mood Escape

I think I gifted this candle before but I never tried a candle from NEST before. I have tried a lot of their perfumes because I had a sampler.

This one comes in a nice box and the candle is really cute, it's just a simple glass jar with white stripes. but it really looks super cute on my vanity.

I mostly like to light candles when I'm watching tv or reading. But the scent of this candle doesn't really mesh with that. This candle smells like a fragranced breeze, somewhere on a sunny day..on the Mediterranean. I can see the day in my mind.

It's more a day time, nice warm weather candles that I think fits a sunny, breezy day best. It just doesn't fit in with my candle burn style, I like to burn candles at night.

It's not overpowering. But you can smell it. I think it's the perfect scent strength. Probably wouldn't do well in a larger room though. It does have a nice cold throw. I like the scent it gives off in my room while it's not lit.

Another problem I have with the candle is that mine is tunneling and I have to do the foil trick. Which I don't feel should need to be done considering the price of the candle.

It's...nice. Just not $30-40 nice. I paid around $30 for it, which I think is overpriced. I think the scent is better than Bath and Body works candles. But not enough to justify the price.

Candle Haul: Voluspa and Neom

I decided to treat myself to some candles, I have been meeting my workout goals and wanted to reward myself. Also they were one sale!

I bought a gift set from Voluspa. Years ago I bought my Mom a candle from them in the large jar and it was terrible. No scent at all. But maybe we  just got a dud. Decided to give them another chance and saw that they use coconut wax instead of paraffin. Not sure if Paraffin is really bad for you...I thought all candles are basically indoor pollution. But Coconut Wax does sound a bit healthier.

When the set came a lot of the candle oil seemed to have leaked out the candles. I think it was because of the heat. But at least they have scent! The set itself is so cute. Love the tin packaging and these candles are smaller but they pack a punch. I mean they won't scent a huge room, but they do great in my larger work room. So far I'm a fan. Might have to get another gift set on sale after I burn through these.

I got:

Gilt Pomander and Hinoki- Have no idea what this is supposed to smell like...but it reminds me of the Leaves Candle from Bath and Body Works. I like this one more. Nice fall scent but not something I would repurchase. Definitely a cinnamon, apple, and all other fall scents thrown into one.

Santal Vanille- Sandalwood Vanilla. This one is really nice. Reminds me of Vanilla Satin from Yankee Candle- That one gave me a headache. This one is much smoother. I like it, probably not a repurchase but I enjoy it. Forgot to take a pic of the top. Oops.

White Cypress- I really like this one. It smells like Christmas trees. Not really Cypress. Might repurchase it because I love Evergreen type of candles. They just smells so good! Kinda spa like...and a bit like Christmas.

Forbidden Fig- Smells like a fig soap I just used up, except this one is better. I had the Nest Candle in Fig too, I prefer this one. I don't like the cold scent but I do like it lit. Not sure if I would repurchase. Probably need to burn it a few more times.
Sweet Pumpkin Latte- This one smells like a dozen other candles from Bath and Body Works. It's Ok. Your typical sweet scent, not sure I really get much pumpkin or even latte/coffee from it. I think it reminds me of Slatkin Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin.

Neom Real Luxury Candle- Think this might be my favorite! Not sure what it smells like- Jasmine, Rosewood, and Lavender. It's lighter and takes some building up but it smells so nice and fresh. Also different to anything I've smelled before....Also it's Soy. So no paraffin.

And that's all....
