NYX Orange Concealer Jar Review

I'm not big into concealer, although the spots on my face say otherwise. Since my current tinted moisturizer does a terrible job of covering up my dark spots, I thought I would buy a concealer that could cancel out the dark spots a little easier. I had a Makeup Forever concealer a couple years ago in the orange shade that I really liked, so I thought this might be comparable for a much better price.

NYX claims:Obscure imperfections and blur away problem areas with one of our Concealer Jars. Now available in 10 more shades to accommodate an even wider range of skin tones, this creamy formula stands up to the villains of unwelcome imperfections with a vengeance.

ORANGE - ORANGE WITH SLIGHT BLUE UNDERTONES

First things first...the shade range. I didn't know that NYX had such an extensive shade range. And they just released a new foundation that has a shade for almost everyone. Also, they are really affordable, which is nice (although all the products are made in China so I feel they should be affordable!).

All that being said, I don't like this product.

When I first work it into the skin, it's like magic. All my dark spots disappear and only a slight orange tint is left on my skin. I have to cover it with foundation of course or else I might look a little crazy.

The problem with this is I feel like it covers well but this stuff evaprotiates off my skin in about 30 minutes and my spots are pretty much back again.
See the dark spots?

I found mixing it with a longer wearing concealer helps extend the wear time, but not by much.

Also if you use a long wearing waterproof foundation over top it might help the staying power.

I tried using a primer, and setting with powder and just really had no luck.

It work a little better on under eye circles, but I find that it settles into lines easily and ends up making me look a little older.

The packaging is kinda cheap. It doesn't feel super cheap, but I dropped it in the sink and a chunk of the lid broke off, so now it's not completely sealed from air. I didn't even really drop it from that much height. Another complaint I have about the packaging is I wish the pot were a little wider. It would be much more functional to have a wider surface to dig into if you are using your fingers to apply. If you usually use a brush, the container probably wouldn't bother you.

Overall, I like that it's affordable.I like the color selection. But the product just doesn't perform. It's too bad because I was definitely interested in picking up a few more colors to test out, but I think maybe I'll try out the popular LA Colors concealers next.

UPDATE- Trashed it....really just not a good product.

Samples Review: MAC My Heroine, Bobbi Brown Concealer, MAC In Extreme Dimension Mascara

I am finally on Phase Three of the Avenger movies. Just got done watching Dr. Strange. I feel like I've heard of almost all the Avengers- except Ant Man and Dr. Strange. And since they didn't really sound familiar  I didn't really have any desire to watch the movies. Ant Man was kind of slow going but by the end of the movie I was all into it. Not so much Dr. Strange. I wonder if they will do another movie for him?

Anyway...my next batch of samples-

MAC My Heroine Perfume- I think a Skunk would smell better than this perfume. I tried to spray this three different times and felt like I was gagging each time. It smells horrible. And it lasts forever. I ended up spraying the rest in the bathroom. Which was am mistake because every time I walked in I felt like I was on the verge of a head splitting headache. I think these are discontinued now- and for good reason. If you see this anywhere on sale, DO NOT BUY IT.

Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer- I don't know when companies are going to be more inclusive with the shades they provide as samples. Not everyone is Beige and Medium. Also, what's the point in having different shades if all you provide as samples are Beige? Anyway, I still did open it and put it under my eyes, the texture seems nice and looks to be full coverage but I couldn't completely test it.

MAC In Extreme Dimension Mascara-  This was OK.  It was a nice deep dark black, gave me a little length and volume, plus some curl. Usually I don't like plastic brushes, but I did actually like this one. It has a ball at the tip that you can use on the lower lashes. It also works well to get the inner most lashes.

That's all for now!

Samples Review: NARS Orgasm Blush, Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat, and Urban Decay Supercurling Mascara

Nars Orgasm Blush- What a name for a blush! I think it's actually kind of clever. And I think it's helped propel it to what might be the most well known blush ever. It's touted everywhere as a universal shade that suits everyone. And many people call it their HG. I have a couple NARS blushes...but I've never really wanted this. I've heard it doesn't show up on darker skin. Which I find to be true. I have Too Faced Who's Your Poppy Blush...which is said to be a dupe. But that one has chunkier gold glitter that emphasizes skin texture. Based on my experience with the sample I prefer this one. The shimmer isn't so obvious.  But neither are doing a whole lot for my face. If your on the opposite end of the color spectrum, this might be worth testing out.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat
I first saw this product a couple years back on one of those TV Shopping networks. I think it's the first highlighting product I had ever seen. Maybelline kind of did their version of it with the age rewind concealer, but other than that I haven't seen many dupes. Which is why I was excited to try out the sample. No need to be really. They have THREE shades. And none of them darker than medium. WHY? I though they would have a light, medium, and dark to include everybody. Not YSL. They put shade 1 and 2 (light shades), and shade 4.5 (medium). I did open it up and play with it and it seems like a nice formula. Would have been nice to try it out in my color though. Shame on them.

Urban Decay Supercurling Mascara
I normally don't like mascara's with the plastic bristles. But I love this. In fact, I love it so much  actually bought the full size. It's sitting untouched in the back of my makeup drawer until I get through my mascara samples. I get supercurled lashes with length and volume very quickly. And it doesn't flake or smudge at all. But my lashes are already naturally curly and I don't usually have problems with flaking and smudging. I really do like it though. It's a great mascara! Just don't apply too much or it can clump the lashes together. Oh, and I love the packaging. Are all Urban Decay Mascara's so good?

That's all for today...but I have a couple more samples in my drawer waiting for me to use and review...so be on the lookout for more mini reviews!

Have you tried any of these? What was your experience with it?

Make Up Forever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette No. 4

Confession: I was not a concealer girl before this. I expect my foundation to cover, and I don't mind if blemishes shine through. Just makes me look more natural.

But sometimes you want the OOMPH. Which is why I wanted this. My lovely little sister bought this for me for my birthday. She picks the best things.

Make Up Forever Claims:
The ultimate professional makeup tool. Skintones are perfect for dark circles and uneven skintone. Though it provides complete coverage, the texture is light, easy to blend, and won't irritate even the most sensitive skin.
Dany's Tip: "Camouflage Creams last longer when applied directly onto the skin before foundation, and blended with fingertips.

So we'll talk packaging first. It's basic. Honestly it's the kind of packing you can find in the the dollar store. Just keeping' it real. I don't mind though. I would rather pay for product, not packaging--for the most part. This particular one breaks down to around seven dollars a piece. Which is not bad considering the quality. The concealers are not particularly big but they should last a while.

The actual consistency is pretty thin but pigmented which makes it good for under eyes AND concealing blemishes on the face. And it lasts a long time too. Especially if you set with powder.

You get five colors:
21 Light Tan Brown- I like it for UNDER eyebrow highlight. I can also mix it with another color to get my skin tone. It can work as under eye concealer for a little brightening too.
22.Red Brown- Too red on it's own but perfect for making my skin tone if I mix it with the third shade.
16. Light Yellow Brown- The lightest shade. I got to try the "super bright" under eye concealer and found out I am NOT a fan. I just mix this with the red and conceal blemishes on my face.
23. Dark Chocolate Brown- Perfect for contour color. Super pigmented and blends out perfectly. I don't contour often so this will last me forever!
20- Orange/Peach- this one is the least pigmented which makes it easier to blend it. You might think it's a little hard because its orange but it's actually really easy to blend in. It does an OK job by itself. Even better when you wear this under another color.

My favorite brushes to use is the Real Techniques crease brush to blend out under eyes and on blemishes and the Real Techniques Contour brush for the dark brown contour color. Love the brush for that-even though before i wasn't that big a fan!

Ingredients:
Talc, Beeswax, Mineral Oil, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate Cetyl Alcohol, Hydrogenated Coconut Oil, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Ozokerite, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Cetyl Ricinoleate, Propylparaben, BHT. May Contain: Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Blue 1 Lake.

So overall, LOVE it. Personally I think it's a great deal. I would highly recommend it! If this is the only concealer I had for the rest of my life, that would be fine with me!

I'm wearing it in these photos-eyeshadow Urban Decay Electrics and L'oreal HIP.

Black Radiance Complexion Perfection Under Eye Concealer

I finally picked up something other than a lip gloss from the Black Radiance line. They had a dollar off coupon in Rite Aide so I think I got this for five dollars. Was it worth it?

Black Radiance claims:
Conveniently customize with two formulas for ultimate coverage. The stick end covers undereye circles and hide blemishes with this oil-, paraben-, and fragrance-free full-coverage, long-wearing formula. While the liquid end helps diffuse fine lines while concealing blemishes in more sensitive areas like under the eyes. For best results, use complete Complexion Perfection(tm) System and following these application tips: 1 2 3 (from back of blister card and graphic boxes)

So first off, let's talk packaging. There are two different sides, a liquid side and a stick side. The liquid side has a doe foot applicator and the stick side is...well a stick. They both have a very thin consistency but the stick side it a bit stickier to the touch while the liquid is more silky. The packaging claims to minimize the appearance of fine lines while the stick is for dark circles. Personally I couldn't tell a difference between the two sides.

I bought this in what I think was the wrong shade. I bought Medium but I always hear that when concealing dark circles you should go lighter, so that's what I will do for sure next time! I do notice that the liquid is lighter than the stick. You can kinda tell that in the picture.

Before Concealer:

After Concealer: Doesn't look like it did anything...it wouldn't photo right..but it did a little but...

The one thing I cannot stand is the smell of this product. It kinda smells like....play-do nastiness. Or something along those lines. And the thing is although I'm placing it on my eyes I swear I can still smell it for a long while after I put it on.

Now I don't have big circles, or fine line problems in excess. Only a little bit. And despite what the picture, it really does conceal more than my camera picked up. But again, my circles aren't really that big of a problem. Foundation usually works pretty well at covering my circles. I can only see myself grabbing for this on special occasions, date..etc. It's not a must have.

I'm not really sure how long it wears but you can always dust over it with some powder to keep it in place longer.

It comes in four different shades: Light to Medium, Medium, Medium to Dark, and Dark. Another thing to note: The ingredients are pretty much just chemicals...

So do I recommend it? I mean it was OK. But nothing life changing. I'de probably skip it. For the five bucks it really didn't do anything that makes me think you should run out and purchase it.

New York Color Green Cover Stick

I remember reading in a magazine that green concealer covers up blemished and red blotches. Of course I began wondering if it would do anything for my brown complexion. So when Rite Aid had BOGO on NYC colors this was one of the items I bought.

Eager to try it, I went right home and did so. It doesn't do much for me, considering I don't have any red blemishes or any red blotches. It did make me look crazy before I put on my foundation and it was kinda fun having random green dots on my face. I also noticed it helped to dry up my pimples quicker than usual. Other than that there was no real benefit for me. In my picture on the right side I put on the concealer. Notice any difference between the left and the right side?

Me Neither.

Overall, it was fun to try out but I won't be repurchasing. It might make a good base for a light greenish eye shadow but I really would not recommend it for my fellow brown skinned beauties unless you have red discolorations.
