I feel like I am finally getting over Jet Lag. So time for another post or two. Today we share some music from Tony Terry.
The 90's truly had some of the best music. Just pure, feel good, put you in a great mood type of vibe. And some great voices. This is one of them.
This is the only song I have by Tony Terry. I was hoping to discover more songs by him but this was the only song that really stood out in his discography. I just read that the great Anita Baker was instrumental in getting the video made. More reasons to adore her.
And of course- gotta share the live version because he sounds even better than the record.
One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. If you love a good slow jam/quiet storm type music and you haven't heard this one- give it a listen!
I've already complained about the heat enough for today..so we shall jump right in. As far as I can remember Toni Braxton was my first favorite singer. My Dad had her album when I was a kid and I just loved, loved, loved, when he would play it. I know we have some home vids of me in a plastic wig and singing along. Good times.
Anyway, Toni is one of my favorite singers of all time. I seriously love her music. I'm about to have Toni sing along right now.
Another Sad Love song is from her self titled album. My favorite album by her. The cover is engrained in my head. My Dad has this album. It's probably one I would try to get on records if I ever get my hands on record player. Much of her first album was penned by Babyface.
Next up, He Wasn't Man Enough For Me. This song got me through my first break up. This an another song, I listened to it literally on repeat. I don't think I appreciated this song until that point. It was off the Heat album which I bought- because I loved me some Toni. I rotated this one between my Mariah Carey, Destiny's Child, J-Lo, and Christina Aguilera albums. I love the music video. It looks like it was fun to shoot and of course the dance blew up on social media not too long.
Next up, the Heat. The second song on the album. I listened to it so much I know what song to expect next. I skipped this song a lot, didn't really start loving it until I was older.
Just Be a Man About It is THAT song. Another one I didn't love until I grown. I was like..hold on- wait a minute. It's one I get stuck on and repeat, repeat, repeat.
Speaking in Tongues was another great one of The Heat album. Whole album was fire really.
Maybe was so underrated. I always felt my ears were a little too young. The song I had wasn't this slowed down. But I like it, you can actually sing along a little bit.
Then I found this little clip. I wish it was longer, I always wanted to hear this live.
I was listening to Please just yesterday. She finally bought the short but back. No one rocks a short cut like Toni.
I also bought the More Than A Woman Album. I don't think it was as good as her prior releases but it had some bops. This song is just fun. Wow, I just caught that Birdman is on this song. Hmm.
I just love the lyrics on Rock Me, Roll Me.
Selfish is another good one of the album. I'm just realizing how well her songs fit the concepts of her albums. Wow.
Last song off the More Than a Woman album. Another one where the lyrics just get me. I think this is also the album where you see Tamar's name as background in all the songs. I think she was on this one. I wish I kept the album insert.
And no moving on to the Secrets album. We are about to be here forever. I almost didn't include this one but I'm listening and's a must have on the playlist. It sounds so 90's. Love that
We love the 90's over here because first of all, this song was a bop. And the FINE men in the video. And all my favorite ladies from the 90's are in here too. Toni did get the finest one though....hehehe.
Oooh. I love Talking in His Sleep. Very unique sound. I just read in the comment Brand sang background in this song- and now I can't unhear it. It's the build up for me. And it sounds like something you would hear at a Speakeasy.
How Could An Angle Break My Heart is one I only listen to sometimes. I don't really start getting into the phone until I hear the saxophone. It's like a call and response to the sax. So beautiful. I'm playing the music video now and surprised at it...I guess I've never seen it? But how is that possible? I love it though...
Let it Flow is another one. I can only listen when I'm in the mood though. Usually if I let it play a little bit, I start right back loving it and don't change it- but if I change the song before it starts to play- I won't listen. I don't know why I'm like that with a lot of the songs from the Secrets album. This song is really full of wisdom the lyrics really touch me.. Also you can tell it's very much so penned by Babyface. He wrote a lot of her second album and you can always tell his songs from the other ones.
Beautiful and breathtaking song. Wow. That's all I have to say. I don't hear it often but every time I do it makes my ears happy. A sad song but still hauntingly beautiful
Next...another break up song for me. I remember back in the day I did some ugly crying to this one. I wasn't crying for him (he wasn't even worth one tear), I think more for me. It used to be I couldn't even listen to this one without going back to that time period. Now it's a little bittersweet for me. I still love the song though...we went through it together.
I don't think I've seen this music video either. I missed so many. Wild. This is yet another song I have to be in the mood for.
Next, I love Me Some Him. This song has more view than I expected. I just love the title of the song though. I'm always in the mood for this song.
Unbreak my Heart is THAT song. I remember watching a video about how she didn't even like this song. Ironically it's her biggest hit. The irony. My favorite one to sing along to...all off key and can't hit any of the notes but I try and have fun doing it. I always thought he up and left her for no reason- but in the video he died. Plot Twist. Is it just me or does this song go all Spanish Guitar on us? That' probably the one song I really dislike by her.
And now we are basically going to post all the songs off her debut album. I love seeing all the views on these old songs, I thought I was the only one in love with them. As alway another fine man guest starring in the video.
Seven Whole Days is also one of my faves. As they all seem to be. This one seems to be a little underrated.
More Saxophone goodness. Sometimes I reconsider if this needs to be on the playlist- the the saxophone saves it. And of course love the rhythm and how she sings this one
Spending my Time get's in the head and never gets out. I'm sure I'll be singing this over all the other songs for the next two weeks.
Love Shoulda Brought You Home- maybe my fave song on this album. Maybe. Idk. I love it though. Look at those scenes from Boomerang. I might need to watch that movie now.
I Belong to You is a Bop. It almost reminds me of a Mariah Carey song but not really. Maybe just the beginning. IDK. Oh and the shu-du-du- du's. I love this one though.
I really underestimate how many songs she released as singles and had video's for. most artist have 2/3 but she released so many more for her earlier albums. Not that I'm complaining. OMG, is that Shemar? Looking like a snack😂 They really look cute together.
You Mean The World is also my top fave. Along with these 50 million other songs posted here .If I ever had to rank the songs, I would be in trouble. I could not.
And that's it. I'm sure I'm missing some songs. I'm tempted to go ahead and listen to her catalogue again. Need to see what I missed, if I missed anything. I know there are some songs that I already posted in the Babyface post- and I don't want to double post. One of my favorite singers of all time, I have loved her music since I was four and still love it every bit as much as I did back then..maybe a million times more.
This song was a recent download for me. I have been playing Dance Central again lately and looking back through all the downloadable songs that I missed downloading. I've been creating youtube playlists of those songs so I can at least do the dances...which is how I discovered this song.
I love 80's/90's hip hop and somehow had never heard this. I was missing out. I downloaded this song immediately.

I don't think I ever heard this song...I discovered it through listening to samples. I had Mariah Carey' Glitter album and she sampled this. That was back when you would listen to an album from the first to the last. I didn't realize she made a music video. I know this is a post about Tom Brown- but...I just have to post Miss Carey. Not my favorite song but I do love the end when she goes full voice.
And now the OG. That trumpet note in the beginning is so iconic to me. Love this song. So underrated. Trumpet never sounded so good.
TLC. They have songs that really take me back to the exact time period I heard them. The 90's was full of amazing girl groups- there were so many great ones I wouldn't be able to pick just one. Nowadays...I can't think of one. Where did they all go? All we get are collabs.
But anyway TLC.
We'll start with Waterfalls. I loved that song. It came on ALL the time when it first came out. I never had any idea what the song meant at the time- it's a sleeper wisdom imparting type song if you really listen to the lyrics. The message went straight over my heard at the time..but this one is probably a song many people need to stop and listen to. Don't go chasing waterfalls.
Creep is a classic. I've heard this song a million and 12 times. This is the first time I realized he cheated first and she just cheated back 😂
I slept on the Red Light Special for years. This is the most Babyface sounding song. I knew he wrote it immediately- no need to even look it up. I love all Babyface penned songs- this is no exception.
The best song of 1999. No Scrubs. They played this every other song on the radio back then and I enjoyed it every time. It can't be overplayed for me. I know all the scrubs were mad that year. This and Bills, Bills, Bills (Destiny's Child) really taught me something.
And now- OG TLC. I love this music video. So 90's. This is one of those songs where it was a few years before I figured out what it was about 😂
And last (but not least) we have Baby, Baby, Baby. Another Babyface penned hit.
I'm really missing the 90's right about now. I'm about to go have me a 90's listening party.
One more post for the day. Today we talk Tina Turner. I remember being so excited to listen to her discography- but then I found out that her music is just really not my cup of tea. At least most of her solo stuff. I think I liked more of her music under the Ike and Tina band.
So I only have one song to share today. And of course it's What's Love Got To Do With It. Not my favorite look of hers but it's ICONIC. I'm so tempted to go do my hair like that for fun....

Super lazy blogger reporting for a post. Lazy and sleepy. I meant to do this post of Monday...yet here it is Thursday. I don't know why I put it off...this is going to a quick one.
I think I came across this song when I was listening to Ciara's discography. I thought it was just the cutest song. I have a lot of thoughts on promise rings- I had one. Which I still regret to this day- mostly because it was a cheap ring that I wanted to buy for myself. But for some reason it was turned into a promise ring that I had to throw out once I found out boy that bought it was basically trash. I probably would have lost the ring anyway by now...but maybe not. I don't even remember what the ring looks like but the regrets LOL.
Anyway .....all these years later I still think this son is so cute. I was excited to listen to more of her music but I don't think it was that memorable.
The most glamorous of the early R&B and Soul music group. When I watch their live performance all I think about is the move Dreamgirls and how they really took inspiration from them. I really thought it was mostly The Supremes- but I think a lot of the live performances definitely look like this group. I don't have as many songs as I have of the Supremes- but I still really love this group for the songs I do have.
The first song I discovered from the group was When Will I See You. I love the filming of this..something about those camera angles. I don't know if this is live but the one after this for sure is!
Then we have If and When which is hands down one of my favorite performances of all time. I enjoy soul music more than anything so this song does it for me then When Will I See You. The voices, the harmonies, everything about this live performance was absolutely perfect. They all look gorgeous...and make me want to buy a wig and some new lipstick. Maybe even a dress so I can go play Dreamgirls in the mirror. So glad I can enjoy this performance anytime I want with youtube. Pure Magic.
And last up- their cameo on Sanford and Son. I LOVE Sanford and Son. One of my favorite sitcoms of all time. It still cracks me up..no matter how many times I have seen it. I need to see about buying the box set so I can own it.
I feel like they probably have a lot more songs I need to listen to. I can't remember if I heard their full discography....but these are the standouts so far. If you haven't, I really recommend giving them a listen!
Now, Tevin Campbell is my sister's favorite. One year I bought her the best gift ever- tickets to see Tevin and a few other artists.Bought the tickets months in advance, only for it to be cancelled. I don't know why it was but I'm still so very disappointed it was!
I didn't know until a few years ago how big he was- he was Usher's main rival as a child star. I think he was probably ruined by the industry...we all know the industry is not kind to child stars. Or anyone really.
Very talented vocalist though...and I have quite a few songs in my library from him.
Starting with...Can We Talk. They still played this one all the time on the radio. It still hits today...it's timeless for real. I love a tenor voice- I think him and Kevon Edmunds have the best tenor voices I have ever heard. You can definitely tell this a Babyface penned song.
Next up, I'm Ready. More Babyface writing. He sure could write a hit back in the 90's. It definitely sounds like it came off the same album.
Guess who wrote this one? Yep, another Babyface penned. I love this one. I think it's all the repetition. I love that in a song.
Last song- not penned by Babyface. But By Prince. Who covered it himself a few years later. It Goes on Hard. I have both versions of the song in my collection. I think this might be his best performance..you can see the difference and how much more comfortable he was on stage than older videos. Nice to see. Also..who is that tearing up that guitar solo?? I love it.
His sophomore album was very much so my favorite- but I'm looking through his catalogue thinking maybe I should give that first album another listen?
He had some bops and if somehow you aren't familiar, I recommend checking his music out!
Who doesn't love the Temptations? I feel like The Temptations are the first oldie group that I had heard about. They are probably one of the most well known and important groups of Motown.

Where to start?
I think we will start with Papa Was a Rolling Stone. This song literally turns the subject of absent fathers into a most entertaining and catchy song. Complete with dance moves and a funky groove. They sound out of sight!
I can't find a live clip of this one- it seems to fly under the radar. This song is HOT!
Hey Girl I Like Your Style is my perfect song for cruising on a nice sunny day. You can't not feel good listening to this one. Beautiful!
Ain't Too Proud to Beg is probably my top two Temptation. If I could be in the crowd I would be screaming and fainting with joy all over the place. I need time machine.
Get Ready will get the party started.
A little random but we are gonna throw some Christmas songs in the mix. Because Temptations are necessary to my Christmas playlist. I can't have Christmas without it.
Everything for Christmas is another Christmas classic. One of my faves!

Ah, my third favorite temptation song. Or second favorite. I could listen to this on repeat. Or maybe it's Number One. IDK. It's one of my favorites though!
We are getting close to the ends (sadly). This is a bop too. I tend to love songs about rain. I could probably make a rain playlist. I probably should.
And last but not least...
As far as I'm concerned one of the best groups of all time. There will never be another group that is quite the same. Especially not the way music is going these days....

I'm excited about today's music post. I love Teena Marie and have been looking forward to posting and enjoying her music.
Jumping right into it...we'll start with Portuguese Love. I really love this song...wish there was live clip. I like this song because it sounds do unique and different from anything else in my playlist. I think it also has those key changes I can never get enough of in a song. Feels like a journey or like I'm traveling through the song. Idk if that makes sense.
And then we have Square Biz. The most popular sample comes in the way of Missy Elliot. Yes, Miss Teena was that girl and she rapped and sang on her song and knocked both out the park.
Aladdin's Lamp is one that is newer to me. It takes me am minute to get into it...it's like I forget the song and it's like I'm listening for the first time. But it never falls, I love it all over again..also it has more of those key changes I adore. She did it in a lot of her songs actually.
Work it is a classic. This is my first time seeing the music video. Her hair looks gorgeous!
Ooh La La La is my absolutely favorite Teena Marie song. I just wish they would upload the actual live vocals instead of dubbing the track over a live vid. The lyrics, the vocals, the sax...I can't get enough of this song.
Any time Rick James and Teena Marie collab you will have fire. This song is so funky. I LOVE it.
Robbery was a newer one to me as well...I'm so glad I listened to her entire discography. This was exactly the type of music I was looking for.
Next up, Lovergirl. Another love at first listen. Words cannot even begin to describe how much I adore this performance.
And last..but not least. Out On a Limb. This song is often on my lips. It's another one I just LOVE. I listen to the entire 6:38 and then press play so I hear it all again. That's love.
We love Lady T over here. Can't even put into words how much I love her music. Extreme talent, I recommend her music highly!
I'm excited about this music post because I love me some Teddy Pendergrass. He has some classic, classics that I am sure I will still be bumping too when I am in my 80's. Timeless music.
Starting with Close The Door. I love this one. They still play this one on the oldies stations. The music video was as exciting as it could have been. I just looked this song up and realized it was on the Nutty Professor..he was singing it to his food/microwave. I haven't seen that movie in forever...I should give it another watch this weekend.
Next song I think it a bit less known. I certainly slept on it for years and didn't really find it until I listened to his full discography.
Next up, some feel good music. Signs that you play and step into an instant good mood. Love this one!
This song is a continuation of Close The Door. Close the Door, Turn off the Lights. That tickles me. I think for a long time I thought they were the same song while knowing they weren't. My favorite part- Rub me Down with some oils bayyybyyy. Next song on this playlist should be Sexual Healing by Marvin. I should burn myself a CD. Oh and then Fire and Desire by Rick James and Teena Marie. Hmm. Anyway, this song is FIRE. And I love it.
Next up, Come Go With Me. I hear the Stylistics in this song...at the very beginning. So I start singing that in the beginning. Then I start thinking of the Nelly and Jaheim song. I heard all those before this jam. I love this song though, love at first listen. You can tell it came off the same album as Turn of the Lights.
Doesn't the beginning of this song remind you of some Barry White? And maybe Quincy Jones. Is Love TKO his biggest hit? Looks like it on youtube. I'm kinda surprised. This one is a classic and I think heavily sampled. Or it samples. I don't know which but I can see why.
And last song- Feel The Fire. One of my top ten/top five duet songs. This pairing was magic. I wish they did another song together.
One of my favorite artist for sure. These are must have songs for me. Required listening.
I've been meaning to do this post for a couple of days but i have been exhausted this week. Not really getting enough sleep lately...while thinking I have but really not. Anyway...it's time to talk music.

This is definitely a forgotten group. I confess that even I cannot really remember any particular song when I think of this group...but when I play them I really like them for the most part.
Starting with a slow song. It has a classic sound to it that I rock with.
Next Up, Madam Butterfly. I remember this song less.. but it has more views than the first song. I think what I like most about this song is the key changes. And the chorus. And how they harmonize. It's a very interesting song.
I probably should have started with Penny For Your Thoughts. It's definitely my second favorite. I knew the lyrics to this before I ever heard the song. Cheap thoughts though...
And then we end with their most popular song- I think everyone knows this one. It's been on a LOT of movies. I think it's my favorite song by the group

Starting with a song that always gets me moving. Boogie Oogie Oogie. Just listen to that music- those instruments. This song reminds me a little of the Rose Royce group. These ladies are too cool- and so talented. That BASS! Wow. I can't find a performance where they use the live vocals though...
Next up, a song that is totally opposite of the first. It's a cover of a Japanese song. I should probably go listen to the original which I have so far never heard. I love this song though- such beautiful lyrics and music. Very talented and versatile group.
Underrated group that has made two of my very favorite songs!
I have the pleasure of seeing Tank in a front row seat many years ago. The details are fuzzy because it was so long ago but he came down and performed in a play at my school- Hampton University. I loved Tank back in the day (those muscles!) and thought he was crazy underrated. I still think he is for how talented he is.
He is a great writer- great voice- plays the piano. I have a few songs in the playlist.
Starting with Please Don't Go. I remember they played this one of the radio a lot. Beautifully sung but I sure hope his girl went....
Next up, I Hate U. I always forget about this song until I start listening. It kinda sounds like it could be a Jamie Foxx song (makes sense cause Tank wrote a few songs for Foxx.).
I'm the Reason is beautiful. I wish he would do a live version of this song. I think it would be fire. There really aren't enough of his live performance on the tube.
I Can't Make You Love Me might be my favorite. It's a remake and has been redone by many artists. This is my favorite. Stripped down with just the lyrics and piano. If you've ever been in this type of situation ship this song will hit hard.
Next up, Emergency. I love this song..and the video. I don't know why his shirt is off, but I'm glad it is 😂 I'm about to go start it from the beginning again.
Some of his songs make me think he must be a serial cheater....still a bop though. Maybe he deserves?
Last song- Slowly. So underrated. The shirt, pants, chains, is so early 2000's. I love it. I get so confused though because this song sounds just like a Jamie Foxx song- but it's not. They really have the same signing style and song vibe. Wild.
