Danessa Myricks Twin Flames MultiChrome Pigment in Passion Review

Happy New Year! I wanted to make sure to do a post today- that way I know I have a good chance of keeping the posts up in the new year. I thought I would start the year off with a post I have been putting off.

I bought this awhile ago in my first Danessa order. I  had decided it was finally time to get my hands on some multi-chromes. And now I don't know how I did my makeup without them. I am almost always adding a bit of extra to any shadow look I do.

I watched a few reviews on this before (or after) I bought it and I did see a few criticisms but I wanted to give it a go for myself.

Danessa Myricks claims:

A multi-chrome, high-impact liquid shadow that displays an ethereal shift between two shades that complement each other

For some reason at the time I was really set on a hot pink to green shift and this is described as exactly that. Unfortunately it isn't exactly what I had in mind.

The main color that shows up is pink and there is a green shift but I never detect it on my own eyes. It could just be the angles I am looking at it but it wasn't exactly what I had in mind.

When I first got it I kept trying to put it over pink shadow looks and that way it just looked so boring. I've found that I mainly like it over a bronze slightly shimmery neutral eye. It just adds a few pops of pink and gives it a little extra while still being subtle enough. I did try it over purple, blue, and all kinds of colors and that it just my favorite.

As for the product itself...I have come to realize I prefer her powder formula. It isn't as sparkly but I like the effect of the powders. They re easier to work with and layer better with other powders. I can really concentrate the powder shadow in a way I can't with this. This will move and remove shadow under it and generally just mess up my shadow so I found the only way to apply it is to spread it out and dab it on. You get a more scattered effect that way.

Overall, it's not perfect. It isn't my favorite. It is still fun to play with but I definitely like the powder shadows over these.  I would probably still try other shades if/when I finally use this all up.

Danessa Myricks Lightwork VII Freedom Palette First Impressions

It's here! The palette I have been waiting on since I got my hands on the last one. I had been impatiently waiting on it to drop and once it did...I added to cart and checked it right out. I knew I had some criticism out the box ...such as the colors being more muted. I know some people are excited because it makes it more everyday wearable but I want wild and crazy and bright colors. So many other brands make everyday shades- I don't want to see that from Danessa too.  I think that's a large reason I have skipped the Pat Mcgrath palettes which I still have yet to pick up.

So I'll start with my first major criticism- the boring matte shades. There is a black (I am drowning in black eyeshadow. I almost never use it so I hate seeing it being included in a palette!). A grey- grey just isn't very flattering on me. And a warmer and cooler brown that I'm pretty sure I also have a ton of and do not need more. I know some people are excited for them and the quality does seem nice- but do we all really need these colors again? I know I don't.

Last years and this years for comparison. You can see I have been using that last one a lot!

Other than that the packaging nice. It comes in really sturdy plastic packaging that you can move around to your hearts desire. The colors are magnetic so you can rearrange and create your own mini palette that is more travel friendly. I do wish there was any option to skip the plastic outer packaging. I don't really feel I needed another one....and I wish we had the option to just pick the shades as single pans and make our own Lightwork. But it is a good idea and the packaging is nice although I will say the Lightworks before this style came out were also really nice and  bonus was that they were recyclable...and seemed more unique.

I was happy to see that there aren't any true dupes to past palette...although I was scared some of them would be too similar. That's not the case. So let's get started swatching!

Starting with the most neutral of them all.

Goldenchild- First shade is gorgeous and the swatch is not doing it justice. It's a gorgeous iridescent with a strong bright green/blue shift. I haven't used it yet but I'm sure when I do, I am going to love it. I have some teal shades I can just see this really setting off.

Warmth is a little boring. I think it would be nice to layer over some bronze shades I  have to give it a slight bit more dimension and sparkle. It doesn't have that much though..I can see someone liking it that likes a more subtle look.

Sand is boring shade number one. It will probably be great if you have lighter skin- for me these shades just don't do it for me. Maybe I can use it as a mixer to lighten some deeper browns already in my collection.

Enchanted is a gorgeous color. It is one of those shades with multi-color sparkle to it. I can't wait to put this one all over my lids!

Rooted is a matte warm mid toned brown. I like this shade in the pan- but I noticed when I swatched it, it went on a little patchy and oxidized darker. I'm not excited about it but I will definitely get some use out of it. I think it will go on the eyes better than it did on the swatch.

Mother Earth seems similar to the shade Unstoppable from the Lightwork 5 palette. I had to pull it out to compare. They are definitely different. This is much more earthy. Kinda like a MAC blue Brown with purple tones. I'll have to see what I think about it when I wear it because it's a little boring in the swatch. At least on my skin tone.

Next let's talk about the Blue palette. Not my favorite palette. I love the blue and the blue chrome shade. Not too excited for the silver (I don't wear them enough and have enough silver shades already. More than I can  ever use up!)  So let's swatch this one:

Nothern Lights- Not sure this is one I'll reach for a little. It's not really my kind of shades but if I use it and find a look I love later..I'll come back and update. I think maybe it will be best for me as an inner color sparkle shade.

Dreamer is gorgeous! I thought it was similar to Brave from Lightwork 5 but it's not a dupe. It's very iridescent and not as flaky. The color is slightly different but I love these type of shades and I already know this is going to be a favorite. It's just the best topper shade to different blue looks.

Magic Moon is a boring matte grey. I don't like these type of shades....I can see how it can help build a look but this type of shade is just not flattering on my skintone.

Mother's Love is an absolutely brilliant blue. It is bright and gorgeous. This is such a hard color for many companies to get right and this is stunning and beautiful and amazing. A highlight of the palette. I wore it on Thursday and I had a lot of lovely compliments on it!

Grounded- It's a nice deep dark black...can be used as a liner but I already have a lot of matte black shades in the collection so I'm not too happy about this one being included.

Star Power- It's a gorgeous sparkly silver. But I have a few silvers that I already rarely use ..I probably did not need this one. But maybe I'll change my mind?  We shall see!

And then we have the last palette: The Purple palette. I thought this would be too similar to the pink palette in Lightwork 6. But they are different enough. These purples do still lean quite a bit pink. Some of them do have quite a strong green shift which should make them interesting on the eyes.

Open Heart has a green shift to it...like some of the other shades in this palette. It's a more forest green. Very pretty and I can definitely see myself getting a ton of use from it.

Toasted is yet another brown. This one being a bit cooler. I will use it, but I'm not thrilled that it's in here. I have about 10 billion similar brown shades.

Spellbound has a more bright green shift to it. And from some angles it does look quite neutral. I don't know that's different enough from Open Heart to where it should have been included. The texture is certainly different. I think another shade could have been used though.

Guiding Light can be used in more natural looks to add something extra. I'm not too terribly excited for it, I think I will mainly use it for layering.

Wish is a little more translucent sparkle. I use these type of colors but I don't love them. I wish she would explore more golden shimmer in her colors. I feel like this palette and a lot of the past palette tend toward a silver sparkle which makes most colors a bit more cool tones than I would like

Love Potion- I'm looking at this one and unsure of what I will mix and match this with. It doesn't seem to have a very definitive color to it. It doesn't seem different enough from Golden Child. I am going to wear it more though and see what I think about it on the eye.

As you can probably tell, I'm not particularly thrilled about the color selection and I don't think it will be my favorite of all the palettes I have from the brand. There are some shades I do already love- the standouts are Enchanted, Mother's Love, and Dreamer.

I'm sure I will still get a ton of use out of it, I can tell you I am hoping she releases a more fun colored palette next year...

Danessa Myricks Lightwork Volume V First Impressions/Swatch on Dark Skin

I saw this on the Danessa website when I was ordering the mini Pastel Dreams and before I even really thought about it...I had ordered this one too. I regret not picking up most of her past palettes...and I wanted this one. And I also really want the III and IV.  I don't think those will be released again...so I'll have to be happy with just getting this one.

So without further ado, let's take a look.

There are 18 shades in a variety of finishes. I lost the sheet that gives her descriptions so we will have to stick with mine. We have iridescent, flaky shades, multi-chromes, and metallics. Probably some that I am missing.

It comes in a beautiful packaging. It is cardboard with an extra plastic piece on the outside. Really gorgeous. I don't expect that it will look pristine for too long- cardboard takes a beating.

Please note I wasn't able to take photos that really capture the sparkles/color accurately. But they are gorgeous and absolutely brilliant on the eyes.

We will start with the first row.

We have Resilient- a gorgeous baby blue iridescent...maybe a bit of silver in it. And a hint of teal. It's a gorgeous sparkly shade. I don't wear this shade of blue often but it is nice to layer with other blues. And probably would be great with some purples.

Then we have Radiant. It's an orange in the pan with flashes of green and red. It's like a glittery multi-chrome.  It seems pretty similar to the shade Higher in the Lightwork VI. I think this one is more sparkly but its flash is very similar. Not sure I needed both...I do like the shades with green...just a little patted in the center of a green look really takes it there.

Then we have Centered. A flaky shade! My favorite type of shades. It has a more natural flash so I'm thinking I can use it in everyday bronze looks. It does flash green and it's incredibly sparkly and dynamic on the eyes. I also do love it with some green. I prefer this one over centered. Also a good one to dab into some green looks.

Next up, Protected. This one is unique to any of the Danessa palettes I have. The main sparkle shade is purple and it flashes pink at some angles. So nice to have this shade- in the DM palettes I have there are ton of pinks but purples. I love wearing purples so I am just I will get a ton of use out of it.

Then we have Evolving. I really wanted more greens and this scratches that itch. I don't have a great way to wear it yet..but I'm sure I'll come up with something....

The shade Strong is a big reason of why I picked the palette up in the first place. It is vibrant blue/purple/pink shift. I played with it a bit today with some purples and I love it. I was a little intimidated by it at first...but I'll be wearing this one outside soon.

Brave is a textured flaky shade that is brilliant on so many colors- blues, greens, purples. I think it might be one of my faves in the palette. It has very pretty light blue, turquoise sparkle to it.

Fierce is a gorgeous red /green/yellow multi-chrome. The red isn't as red on my skin tone. I like it though..but I definitely like other shades more.

Fearless is like a green/red/pink? It's really hard to tell what shade it actually is. Due to that I don't think I will reach for it a ton..until I figure out what I like to wear it with. I haven't even been tempted to dig into it and I've had the palette a couple weeks now. Looking at it, I do like the green shift- it seems a bit more on the lime side compared to the other greens.

Loved is a muted pink to green sparkle. Very subtle on my skin-tone. I think it's almost exactly a shade I was looking for but now that I have it, no idea how to wear it.

Healed is a gorgeous purple. So many purples don't stand out on my skin-tone and this one is the type of purple that does. It has some green and pink shifts.

Inspring is one that I'm not sure I will get a lot of wear out of. It's a silvery purple shade? Maybe. I need to try it as a lid highlight shade.

Abundant is the second reason I bought this palette. I love a green and this shade is brilliant. A very in your face green. It shifts blue/purple/lighter green. Dynamic!

Invincible is the Silver with Silver sparkles. It is the ultimate silver shade. I don't wear silver a lot but this is a great stepping out shade.  It is textured and flaky. It looks really nice as a topper shade if you apply it lightly.

Unstoppable- I don't know why I haven't reached for this one...it doesn't have a special finish but it's a very pretty color. Probably makes a great based for some of the purple and blue multi-chrome shades.

Powerful is a multi-chrome. It's similar to Unstoppable and Unbreakable...but this one is a multi-chrome finish. I need to see what it looks like on my lids. It has a lot of green shift to it.

Unbreakable is another shade that doesn't have a super special finish. It looks like a satin metallic with subtle shimmer. I need to try this on my eyes because their shades do come to life on the eyes in a way they never do in a swatch.

And last up..Enough. Gorgeous green. I don't know that this shade of green is flattering on me but I'm gonna make it work. It has the same finish as Unbreakable.

I'm blown away by this palette and it really is so fun to play with..it is the perfect companion palette to make some of my older/outdated/boring formulas come to life. It was expensive but for me...worth it!

Danessa Myricks Freedom Palette: Pastel Dreams Edition (Swatches on Dark Skin)

I was one of the people that ordered this palette as soon as it dropped. I want all the colorful palettes Danessa drops. I missed out on the Lightwork 3 and 4 and regret it strongly to this day. I would just assume I had something similar in the collection already..and I was wrong. They are so sparkly and duo-chrome and shifty...so when this palette dropped I added to my card and checked it out. I had a reward on the site so I did get a little money off...yay for customer loyalty rewards.

There are six shades and probably four of them are close enough to other colors I have in my stash. The brown doesn't seem completely unique but I haven't tried it only my lids yet. I could be wrong. The pastel blue green and orchid are close enough to some shades I have from Sugarpill. I think these may be easier to build and more pigmented though. I'm excited for the neutral topper shade. I don't have anything neutral and wanted something to go with bronze/brown looks so I guess that's it!

The pink duo chrome is very similar to the Serenity shade in the Lightwork 6. It might be slightly darker and this one doesn't shift as green.  But they were close enough that it is a bit disappointing to me. If you don't have that one,  it will be new to you. And lastly the green sparkly shade. Very unique...and I still can't really decide what color it is. It will be fun matching it with looks because it's so unique.

Changes the look for the whole palette!

I love that it can pop into the larger palette and you can switch/rearrange shades as you want. They are all magnetic so very easy to pop right out and travel with them.

The special shades are pretty translucent. They are more like toppers. And probably a bit less intimidating for those that don't wear color on the lids much. I live for a bold, colorful shadow look so that's not me!

First shade is Moondust- it's very translucent. I can't say I'm very impressed with it, I need to play with it more. Seems a bit boring but maybe it can add something special to a bronze/brown look. I'll update once I try it.

Pink Quartz- I wish she did a more purple shifty shade. It's too similar to the pink Serenity in the Lightwork 6 IMO.

Galaxy Dream- This one is very unique. At least to my small collection.I'm excited to play with it and see what it matches with best. It looks turquoise full on and has some orange shift to it.

Aqua Dream- What a pretty color! I can't wait to put it all over my lids. It has really great pigmentation and comes out as a true pastel.

Pink Mirage- It is a pretty orchid shade. I did wear it the other day...probably paired it with all the wrong colors but it wasn't as bright as I thought it would be. It seemed more muted? I think I might prefer the shade from Sugarpill but I do need to test it more.

Gilded Dream- This shade reminds me of my beloved Salted Caramel from years back in the OG Too Faced palette. It might be more terracotta though. I'm most curious on what this will look like on but haven't quite tried it yet.

And there we have it! I don't think it's going to be my favorite palette of the ones I have from Danessa...but I like it and I am  excited to experiment with it.

Danessa Myricks Haul

I've been having a super amazing weekend, good food- lots of laughs...just everything!  Now the weather is super ugly so I am just hanging around the house. Will probably start Sunday Dinner in just a little bit. But before I get on with all the Sunday things I wanted to share what I bought in my most recent Danessa Haul.

I couldn't resist her Holiday sale and that email for 35% off just couldn't be ignored. Figured I would finally try out the Chrome Flakes that I have been wanting to get my hands on for awhile. And while I was added I wanted to try out her Twin Flames and the multi-chrome liner. I had the hardest time picking out colors but ultimately I am obsessed with chartreuse so I went for anything that had Chartreuse in the description.

Starting with my favorite of the bunch- Chrome Flakes. I bought the color lightning bolt. These are pricey but they are so pretty and unique. I haven't seen anything like this anywhere else so I would say they are worth it. They definitely give a very unique look- probably more suitable for editorial makeup. But I love them and I am very extra with eye make lately so I will probably wear them casually. And for everyday. I wore mine over a teal shade and LOVE it. But I'm sure it would be gorgeous over purples, pinks, greens etc. They mostly appear gold but you can definitely see blue, pink, and green shifts. It's the most shifty and more complex than I think you could get from a powder.

Then I bought one of the Twin Flames. The color I bought was Passion. I wanted a bright pink to lime green shifting color and I was expecting this to be that. Mostly I get a pink glitter look. I'm not sure I needed this since I did buy the most recent light work palette and I think I like those powders over this. But I do need to play with it more. I coudn't get it to photograph nicely....

Last up, I bought a multi-chrome pencil- shade Charlotte. I think this might be the most dissapointing of my haul. I don't see much multi-chrome effect to it. It just feels like a deep purple. The pencil is very thin...not as creamy and smooth as I was expecting. And the tip already broke off. But I will reserve judgment until I have used it more as there may just be a learning curve. I would probably still test out other colors later down the line though....

And that's all! I'm off to play in some makeup and then probably get started on dinner....

Danessa Myricks Love is Love Palette First Impressions

I finished one palette and was about to lose my mind trying to order something to replace it. The last few times I finished a palette I went and bought a few palettes to replace it. I am trying not to do that this time...but I was so close to ordering the Coy palette by Viseart. I had wanted it awhile ago when they said something about the pigments being hard to find etc. The shipping cost is what snapped me out of it. And I'm glad because I don't need that palette...at least not now. I am going to hold out until December. Then I might get another palette, if Coy is still in stock it might be that one.

In the meantime, my Love is Love palette is here and I LOVE IT! It's supposed to be for pride month- so it's LGBTQ+ inspired. I like it, I know a few brands put out some nice collections for pride month. I had been wanting something from Danessa for awhile so I'm so glad I was browsing the site and came across this. I have always wanted to try some multi-chrome shadow and just never got around to buying them.

The only criticism I have is that I wish the multi-chrome pan was bigger- you don't really get a lot of product in this palette. And I could have done without the purple and the black. But I haven't tried them so maybe when I really get into this palette I'll change my mind.

The first thing I did when I got this palette was start swatching it. Then I held it up to the sunlight and these shades are just gorgeous. I don't have any shadows like it. I don't really have many new formula shadows- so most of mine are old and the glittery shades usually just fall right off the eye. Not so with these. The shimmer and glimmer stays. They are firmly pressed in the pan too, which is surprising because so many of the new shadows  have a loose formula.

I also like that they stay ALL DAY. I have only worn it once but I came home after work and my shadow is just as shimmery as when I put it on. I am impressed.

So here are some swatches.....

Ally looks like a silvery diamond glitter bomb. It is beautiful in the sun. I can't wait to play with it and see if it can later over other shadows.

Embrace- A deep purple. I'm not very excited about this shade- I have a lot of purples and I love purple but...Idk. Maybe I'll change my mind though.

Truth- Truth is also a beautiful glittery, shimmery gorgeous shade. I don't know how I am going to wear it but I will definitely have fun with it.

Limitless- Just a black. I have a lot of black shades in my collection so I'm not particularly excited for it...but maybe it will really compliment the palette or make a great liner. I'll come back and update once I have an opinion on it.

The two high-light shades are on the bottom and rival the multi-chromes for my favorite. As an inner corner high-light? AMAZING.

Freedom-  I have Roadstripe from Urban Decay that I have loved for years and try not to use it because I love it that much. This is a billion times prettier than that shade. So sparkly and the blue shift....I'm so glad the pan on this is bigger than the other four shades. I might give it a go as a cheek highlighter. Why not?

Worthy- I think Worthy will be a nice highlight on my skintone.  I think it's warmer compared to the Freedom shade. Also makes a bomb inner corner highlight. So beautiful. I wish she just sold these shades on their own. I want a back up---as well as huge pans!

The last couple of shades are DREAM.

D is the red/pink shade that shift to green. The first three colors do seems to shift to the same color. I kinda thought they would all shift different but the base color is different so it does make them different enough.

R is red in the pan...but it does look orange at times. It also shifts to a green. I can't wait to wear it because I love red/ orange shadow.

E appears orange  in the pan..and orange in the swatch. It also shifts to a sort of green shade that's different than the shift of the first two.

A is green. It looks green and also shifts to a blue green. These type of colors tend to be unflattering on me- so I also can't wait to actually wear it.

And M is a blue that kinda shifts to green/purple. I find blue shadow is the hardest to wear so maybe I'll try this one next- just to see if I can make it work.

I did try to capture the shift but it didn't want to be captured. These shades are gorgeous though and I can't wait to play more with them....I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorite palettes of all time!

Mac Fix+ Coconut Review

I've had these sprays for a couple of years now...and finally just occurred to me to go ahead and review them. I ended up with two because one got lost in the mail, I contacted MAC, they sent out another one...it arrived and then a few weeks later the original package showed up. A couple years back I reviewed the original..I'll probably copy and paste a lot of that original review because I'm feeling a bit lazy.

MAC claims:

A lightweight mist of water packed with vitamins and minerals, infused with a blend of green tea, chamomile and cucumber to gently soothe and refresh the skin. Gives an instant boost of hydration while delivering a soft sheen to refresh and finish makeup. This holy grail of hydrating mists can be used with other products in near-endless ways – improve the wear of makeup, or moisturize and soothe tired skin.

Made in USA

So you get just over 3 ounces of product $27 dollars. It's not a cheap spray. And especially when you consider it is mostly glycerin and water as ingredients and you can actually make a similar spray yourself MUCH cheaper. The only problem is preservatives but you can make a small batch and refrigerate.

The scent is OK. I wasn't a big fan of the original scent, it wasn't bad but it wasn't my favorite. I feel the same about this one. I probably wouldn't buy this one again, it doesn't smell like actual coconut, but an odd imitation coconut that you aren't quite sure is supposed to be Coconut, next time I will probably pick up the Rose or the Lavender.

Sometimes I watch the MAC videos and I see they mostly like to use it to hydrate skin before make-up. I like to use it that way.....in the winter. In the summer I find it's too hydrating and makes my skin look very oily. But in the winter when I just need something lighter to take away slight dryness, this works perfectly. It is kinda of sticky and gives my skin too much shine in the warmer months.

I notice most people I've seen use it, tend to use it as a finishing spray to settle down a powdery finish. I do like to use it that way when my skin is more on the powdery side since the dry look is never cute. It works well for that. I do disagree with the claim that it makes your makeup last longer. I've tried it with some very short wearing foundations and I don't really notice too much of a difference.

Another way I see a lot of people use it is to wet the brush to make shadow have a sort of foiled appearance. I've used it that way. It works. And it works well. But for the price I can get a cheap bottle of Visine type eyedrops to do the same. Or even use water or a cheaper drugstore spray because at the price it is, it feels like I am "wasting" it when I use it that way. So I don't tend to use it to spray the brush. But it does work well for that! Above I used it with a brush-the first swatch is dry and the second I used Fix plus on the brush.

Ingredients:
Water\Aqua\Eau, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Camellia Sinensis  (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Coconut Fruit Extract, Algae Extract (two different types) Tocopheryl Acetate, Caffeine, Panthenol, Arginine, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Peg-26-Buteth-26, Fragrance (Parfum), Sodium citrate, Polydextrose, Caprylyl Glycol, Citric Acid,  Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol

I do like it. I just don't know if I like it at that price tag but here I am having already repurchase and very likely to try the other scents if ever get through these.

What's your favorite make-up spray?

Senna Cosmetics Eyeshadow Haul

In retrospect I really probably shouldn't have bought these. But I was ordering some more brushes (don't really need those either). Figured for only a dollar can't go wrong. I probably wouldn't order anymore shadows from Senna though because I feel they could do a better job of swatching and taking pics of the colors for the website- especially if you were to pay full price for the shadows. None of the colors came how I expected them to look. I really only  love two colors, maybe three and the rest I could have left alone.

Wicked Wine- First color is Wicked Wine. This is Ok. I think I prefer MAC Cranberry on me as this seems a bit muted/dull on my complexion. I won't throw it away...but don't see it becoming a favorite. It has quite a bit of sparkle to it as most the shades do. I kinda like actual shimmer over sparkle though. (Ended up going in the trash- not enough base shade and too much silver sparkle-not very flattering to wear)

Purple Haze- A cooler purple shade. Not going to be a favorite but it's definitely wearable. (Trashed, too glittery, not enough color base)

Pink Diamond- This is one of my favorites. I love a nice pink eyeshadow and I think this one looks pretty good one me. I don't think I have anything similar so this one was worth getting.

Silhouette- A cool toned shade that looks pretty nice on me. I like it..but I have a few similar shades from Urban  Decay so wasn't really one that was needed in my collection. (UPDATE-Trashed- it is just really dull and the sparkles fall right off. Quality just isn't there!)

Chameleon- I think I might end of trashing this one later on. I think I wanted it because it's supposed to be pearly or a lot of tones in one but it just shows up too light on me. No dimension that I notice. I'll play with it a little more before I toss it out though. (Trashed)

Smoky Quartz- I love the Smoky Quartz stone. I thought this was going to be warmer...I do like it. I can always use more mid-tone browns since I have been using the ones in my collection up so not mad about adding this to the collection.

Capri- I love a good blue...this one has a pretty tone to it. Maybe not the most flattering on me but wearable.

Dragonfly- One of my favorites. It's that blue brown pigment type shade but more muted and wearable for everyday. I like it!

Fixation- Such a pretty green in the pan but doesn't show up on my skintone like that. It's a blackened green basically. Not sure this is a keeper. Might be one I end up getting rid of. (Trashed- sparkles don't stick and there is no green- just muddy blah!)

Posh- Regular regular reddish burgundy. Nothing special. Upon playing in it further, not pigmented, patchy, doesn't build up, and is basically a matte with glitter- trashed!)

Tourmaline-This one is probably going to be trashed as well. Grey just doesn't do anything for my complexion. This doesn't have the best quality either. It looks to be a baby blue but goes so dull on the eye. (Trashed)

Minx- Looks like a shimmery brown...really it's one of those Matte shades with glitters. I have a ton of matte brown shades. Probably didn't need this but I'll definitely end up using it.

Last four...I forgot to swatch and I'm feeling lazy. I'll have to swatch them later.

Pistachio- We have Pistachio- which is garbage. It's one that blends away immediately after spending time building it up for 10 minutes. (Trashed)

Lexicon- A sparkly black with blue sparkle that doesn't show up. I think this one was free. I doubt I ordered it. I'm grateful but don't think this will be a favorite. (trashed)

Fantasy- A nice light purple shade. I like warmer purples though so will use it but likely won't love it. (Too powdery and too grey so it went into the trash!)

Adonis- I've wanted MAC Plumage forever so this is my $1 substitute. I like it so far. Will probably end up using it as a liner the most. I think this one is nicer than a similar color I have from Viseart. (Trashed- it oxidizes to a muddy black color, it's also very patchy so out it went)

And that's all....I'll probably come back and post updates as I use them up and form more of an opinion on them.

Kinda wish I stuck with the brushes though. They are definitely good quality for $1, but I would never pay full price for them. I'm just not the biggest fan of the tones or the excess sparkle.

Viseart Warm Mattes- First Impressions and Swatches on Dark Skin

I finally got my hands on Warm Mattes which has been on my wishlist for quite awhile. Unfortunately I'm not as thrilled with it as I thought I would be. I'm very glad I got the small size. I think the tones are just a little off on my complexion and they lack richness. Much the same problem I had with the 01 Neutral Matte..but I can get more of those colors to work on my complexion than I can with this one.

Beurre- Perfect brow highlight color for me. I've learned the ones that lean yellow worth the best for me.  I'm glad the lightest shade in the palette works for me, because that isn't the case for the 01 neutral matte palette.

Criossant- Another good highlight shade. So many in this palette. It's kinda overkill but I guess I have enough to last the rest of my life.

Bisque- Another one that look a little weird as a lid shade..but makes a great brow highlight. That slight yellow is what makes it work. It has a lot of kickback though. Reminds of the Anastasia Formula.

Saffron- In the pan this looks like the perfect dark yellow. I really want a dark yellow but I'm having a hard time finding the perfect yellow. It just needs to be a a few shades darker and then it would have been my perfect yellow. Other than that the quality is pretty good. Yellow is usually a hit and miss. It's the best yellow in my collection. I might search for a base to go with it one of these days.

Brioche- Kinda too light and ashy to use as a lid shade. So we have yet another brow shade.

Cantaloupe- Oooh another orange. I used to barely have orange shades in my collection. Now I can't get way from them . They are everywhere. This is a pretty shade, I have to pair it correctly get it to look right on me. I do like mixing it with the yellow.

Cidre- It's barely deeper than Bique shade. So close I don't need both. Ehh it's alright, not many uses on my skintone except...brow highlighter. Maybe inner corner highlight but it looks a little odd. It's just a little ashy on me for some reason. And here I thought I would rock these shades.

Flame- I usually love orange shadow...I think the tone might be wrong on my complexion though. Might try mixing it in some blush or trying it as a blush because orange usually shines as a complexion product for me.

Brûlée- This is another one that looks slightly ashy. It doesn't have any richness to it. I can't tell if it's a pigmentation problem but I don't particularly love these.

Nutmeg- I love the tones of this one but it's not very pigmented. I think all of these shades lack the ability to build up or really show up on my complexion. I'll have to use it or mix it into other colors outside of this palette.

Mocha-Viseart never makes deep dark chocolate browns...and they still haven't in this palette. It's oddly cool toned. And doesn't really go that well with the other colors. At least in my opinion. I do like cool toned browns though...will probably reach for this to use with shades outside the palette.

Brick- This is an Ok color. I think I would mostly use it with colors outside of this palette as it's not stand-alone flattering on me.

I love how tiny the pans are. And that they are magnetic so you can rearrange to your hears to desire.

Since the pans are smaller though, it makes them a little less versatile. It's harder to get blush brushes, contour brushes, bronzer brushes in it. Maybe not the best size for a pro. I knew what I was getting going in and don't mind so much, but it's worth noting.

I notice some of the shades really have a lot of kick up. It reminds of the Anastasia formula a little bit.

So far I'm not super enthusiastic about it. I think it just lacks richness and versatility. A rich deep (warm)  brown would have really made this palette work better for me. I will really have to play with some of the deep browns and find one that I think pairs well. I have a few to try in palettes and a few MAC singles I can give a go with it. If I find that perfect shade I will come back and update. Also I will update as I use the shades more. I tend to do that with all my palettes.

By far I prefer the Neutral Mattes Mileu for a neutral palette. They show up much better and have richer pigment overall.

Next up Cool Mattes....

I finally got me some David's Tea, most of them were blah but I did really like the Banana Bread Chai, S'mores Chai, and the Chocolate Chili Chai. I've had a lot of fun drinking and making different lattes.

Urban Decay Vice 2: A Look Back

This palette was a gift from my sister and started my Vice Palette obsession...I missed out on the first one and the very last one. Of all the ones I have, this one is the best quality. There weren't too many duds as far as quality and they all work the same as the day I received it.

Smokeout (dark taupe black satin)- I love this shadow. It's a reddish based black that goes so well with bronze-y/brown shadows. It used to be sold as a single but they discontinued it. I need to remember to use it more often.

Lovesick (black matte with iridescent micro-glitter) - A little repetitive. It's not needed since you have Smokeout and Smokeout is the better choice. This is a matte black with silver sparkles. The sparkles don't really show up on the eye and I do tend to like my black matte shades without the glitter since it serves no purpose. Might dump it out later since I have a lot of matte blacks that are better.

Shellshock (bright metallic silver) - This has got to be the brightest most pigmented silver. So pigmented and "creamy" that you really have to be careful when applying it because it will transfer to your upper lids. And I don't even have hooded lids. I love this as a inner corner highlight shade since it's so metallic. Most with blue looks. It's just perfect for that.

Coax (medium metallic pink with golden iridescent micro sparkle) - It looks like a pink but really has some purple/lavender tones to it. It's unique in my collection. Love it for a pink/purple look. Also can be fun mixed a bright turquoise color for a fun look.

X-Rated (baby pink satin) - This is a barely there pink, but enough pink that it works for me when I need that type of pink. I do wish it had just a touch more pink but I plan on keeping it because I do like it. And it's not really a common color that would be easy to dupe.

Prank (Deep Navy Matte with turquoise floating pearl) - This a deep navy color with the prettiest light blue glitter in it. It shows up and looks pretty in a swatch but not on the eye and especially not with a brush. I like that the shadow is easy to handle and blend...but it looks like a grayish/black blue. Not vibrant blue pigmentation so I will probably end up digging the shade out later. I've never been impressed with it since I've had the palette.

Madness-(bright metallic blue shimmer with blue micro glitter)  Such a gorgeous shimmery blue shade! I love this color, it's one of my favorite blues. A good mid-tone blue is hard to find so I'm glad to have it in my collection.

Strike- (Antique golden shimmer) An old yellow gold. Its pretty as an inner corner. Mine tend to go hard pan. I will keep it since I like it as an inner corner color with the greens and browns in the palette.

Stash-(Deep olive green shimmer)  I love Stash. A really pretty and wearable green shade with a multi color shimmer through it. Great quality too!

Poison- (Charcoal satin) Yet another deep, dark shade. I forgot this one was here. It's more a deep brown black hint of green shimmer. I like pairing it with Derailed and Rewind. I might need to give it a try with Ambush as well.

Radar- My favorite color in the whole palette. It's my go to, go out shade. It has a glittery finish that looks nice on my face, I have been "saving" this shade but I'm going to use it more often. Hopefully I can find a dupe once I do use it up.

Damaged- A darkened emerald green. Not very sparkly but looks like it should be. This is better than the green that was in the Vice LTD palette in that at least it showed up green but it's not a very flattering color on me. I am considering dumping it eventually since I've never liked it that much. It even clashes with the other green in the palette which is Stash.

Voodoo- I don't really like Voodoo much. It's a blackened purple, a bit too blackened for me and tons of glitter fallout. I'm not ready to toss it yet but maybe the next time I pair down some shadows. I'm going to try it with a few more purple looks first even though I'm certain it will end up coloring some bath water.

Betrayal- I'm pretty sure this is the 2nd duo chrome addition made to my collection. It's a purple with a blue shift. So pretty! And unique. I used to save it but I need to use it more. I just need to find the perfect purple (or blue) to pair it with since I don't like it with the deep purple already in the palette.

Derailed- At one point this was a my favorite cool, taupe, brown shade. I still do really like it even though cool taupes aren't always my favorite. It goes well with both poison and Rewind.

Dope- I don't think I am going to keep this shade. It's a slightly pink toned shade with a satin finish...but mostly looks like that ashy white I complain often about. It's doesn't have enough sparkle to make a nice inner corner highlight and is a little too ashy to make a nice brow highlight. It really reminds me of the shade Virgin in the OG Naked palette.

Toxic- In my head this is a dupe for MAC's Expensive Pink but I've never actually seen that shade in person. I like this as an everyday wearable shade. It's a slightly peachy pink that doesn't stand out too, too much.

Habit- A boring nude shade, has a little more beige to it than other shades so it's not as ashy. Makes an OK highlight color so I won't dig this one out.

Ambush- Just your basic everyday brown/bronze. It can look a bit boring compared to some other brown shades in my collection, mostly because it's not the most flattering on my skin tone. I might try mixing it with a gold to use it more.

Rewind- I really like Rewind. It reminds me of Buck for the Naked Palette but it's cooler in tone. It creates a nice "shadow" in the crease that helps with blending and goes so well with so many of the colors in the palette. It's an eyeshadow that goes on very natural looking. All these years later and I still like it as much as I did when I first used it.

There are a few dud shades (and repeat shades) ..but overall the shades are much better quality than some of the other vice palettes.  They are pigmented and smooth right on without the need to build them up. Some of them have a little glitter fallout but I don't think it's as bad as some of the other Vice Palettes I have in my collection.
