Urban Decay BlackMail Vice Lipstick Review

All the stuff in my kitchen seems to be slowly breaking. First my little kitchen scale. which I use when baking for accuracy. It just bit the dust, so I replaced it and I like the replacement much better. And now the toaster/small oven just decided to break. I definitely want to replace it but the replacement is expensive...I need it to go on sale. I guess I should get on the searching/researching.

But back to lipstick. Years and years ago my friend got me the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick palette. It's long expired but I still keep it. It doesn't smell off or look off and works the same as the day I got it so it will probably continue to stay in the collection. At least Blackmail is the last color I need to review. And I have actually used up most of the colors.

Usually I would put the claims here but this lipstick shade is long discontinued so I don't feel like digging through the net too much.

I remember a time when Urban Decay used to be a top makeup brand. They found so much success with the Naked Palette...but lost their edginess. They became boring. I would still buy from them...I just haven't in years.

This is probably not a color I would have bought on its own- but only because I have MAC Cyber which is similar enough to not need this one. This is more of a burgundy-black based color while MAC Cyber is more purple based black.

The color of this so very saturated...and VERY dark on me. It's a look I wouldn't wear most days but maybe out to dinner in the fall. Or a cool spring/cold winter night.

I like that it comes in a palette because I believe these type of colors are best applied with care. And by that I mean it works better with a brush. To get the most out of it I reccomend thin layers. Only two needed. Apply, blot, and reapply. That way I find it truly wears a long time.  It doesn't move around much and it's very saturated. Urban Decay makes great lipsticks.

I think it's a very pretty color, worth owning at least one in the collection (I have four super dark colors that fulfill the same purpose) . I wish Urban still carried the edgy colors they used to carry though...

Urban Decay Vice Conspiracy Lipstick Review

Conspiracy is in the 2nd row, 5th shade

I have time today..so figured I would do a quick post on some extremely expired lipstick. It still smells fine though so I'll just keep using it until it makes my lips fall off.

Urban Decay claims:

Prepare to get hooked. Vice Lipstick comes in a massive lineup of 135 addictive shades and six indulgent finishes—our biggest lineup yet!

Our shade range has it all: Bold brights. Dark, sexy shades. Super-versatile neutrals. With so much variety it’ll make your head spin, there’s something for everyone—from new shades to cult favorites you thought you’d never see again. Several shades were inspired by some of our other lip products (and even our Eyeshadows and Eye Pencils!).

(Old description)

I got this lipstick a few years ago from a novely friend. It was a palette with all kinds of fun colors. I've used up a lot of the colors and have the two darkest shades left. At one point I was considering purchasing MAC "O" because I thought it would look ok on me and would be fun to experiment with.

I think this shade is long discontinued. It was described as a warm toned dark brown with pearl. To me it's a burgundy brown metallic/frost lipstick. Could be edgy on some people, on me it just looks a bit boring.

I'm still so glad I got to try it because now I know these shades aren't for me. I like a red, pink, fuschia, coral, or orange color. I love a bright lipstick. I just don't think this type of shade brings much of anything to my skin tone/complexion.

I should swatch it but I'm feeling lazy.

I wouldn't purchase the full size, but then again I can't because it is long discontinued. I just checked the Urban Decay site and they have discontinued so many shades. They only have about 30 or so shades n the range when it used to be massive at 130+. I remember when Urban Decay was all the rage and now there are so many other brands that have surpassed them in popularity. Wow.

Samples Review: Diptyque L'ombrera Dans L'Eau Parfum , Diptyque Des Sens Eau De Toilette, MAC Powder Kiss Lipstick

I'm about to have a Christmas movie night while googling like mad and trying to figure out what I want to make for Christmas Dinner. I'm in charge this Christmas and it's up to me to figure out 😁. Traditionally we usually eat lasagna. Maybe I'll go with that. Maybe I won't. Maybe I'll collab with my sister and see what she wants to do.

Dytique L'ombre Dans L'eau Parfum- It's Baies in perfume form. So black currant and rose. A very unique scent. It's grown on me because I wasn't too sure about it at first. It starts off really green, has that sour sweet of the black currant, and a lot of rose. I really love catching whiffs of it, not really a scent I want to wear out the house, but something I like wearing when I'm home.

Just sniffing this perfume on it's own, I really, really liked it. But something about the initial spray, I don't like. It smells off to me and I don't know what it is. It does get better as I wear it, but those first scent notes remind me of a Mrs. Meyers scent or something I would use as a candle in the bathroom or even kitchen. Not really for me...although it really is a unique scent. I guess it's supposed to be Orange Blossom. I don't really know what that smells like though.
Last up, MAC Powder Kiss. I've had a few of these sample cards. I love the regular old bullet lipsticks. MAC makes amazing lipsticks...wasn't sure about the Powder Kiss though. I think overall, they aren't for me. I like the texture, I like the way it looks, a matte with a soft opaque look. I like it, but I think an opaque lipstick is more versatile, although you can't make it look quite like these look. They are a bit drying over time. And the wear time is disappointing. I feel like they don't stay where I put them and disappear kinda quickly. Also the three sample colors weren't the best looking on me. They aren't on my radar to purchase, but really I just don't need any new lip colors.

And that's all!

Lancome Vintage Rose (Sheer) Lipstick Review

This lipstick was one of those gifts with purchase. I don't typically purchase colors like this...and have never been drawn to Lancome for lipstick. I just always feel like they have a lot of boring nude shades.I should take another look though. It is nice to have a go to nude for more colorful eye looks- but since I have been wearings masks...not really needed at the moment.

Lancome claims:

If your lips long for full, fade-free color in tempting textures, and a shade selection that would inspire any makeup artist; the search is over. This luxurious lipstick is infused with soothing ingredients, so lips feel soft and comforted all day. Choose from five fabulous finishes: cream, sheen, shimmer, metallic and matte.

This does seem to be a highly rated shade- which is why I think they include it...yet I can't find it on the website.

It's a medium sheer pink with a slight blue shift to it that doesn't show up when I wear it on my lips but I can see it when I swatch it on the back of my hand.

I've mostly just been using it to wear around the house because it's the kind of shade that looks patchy or too sheer if I only use a light coat. So I have to pile it on to get it to look decent. Which is good when you are using it just to use it up. It's not the type of shade I would wear out the house.

It also doesn't really last that well. Maybe I am always eating it off, IDK.

It does seem to be hydrating though. I haven't had any issues with it feeling drying. That part of it does make me want to check out the other colors in the line...but I have a drawer full of neglected lipsticks that tell me otherwise.

The packaging does feel a little cheap- but I think it's just their gift with purchase packaging. The other packaging looks a bit better on the website.

Overall...not for me.

Urban Decay 1993 Lipstick Review

I've been meaning to write this review for awhile but haven't really had the time to put on the lipstick and then take pics. Otherwise I'm pretty sure I would have used it all up because I tend to want to put it on with everything!

Urban Decay claims:
1993 Comfort Matte Medium Brown

he pigment load in Vice Lipstick is insane! Just one swipe provides an unbelievable laydown of color. And every shade applies smoothly (without dragging or skipping), hugs lips, and feels amazing! Our proprietary Pigment Infusion System™ gives the formula its super-creamy texture, rich payout and superior color dispersion.

This creamy formula is loaded with nourishing ingredients. A yummy butter blend comforts, hydrates and enhances, leaving lips soft and conditioned, never dry. Aloe vera, jojoba, avocado and babassu oils nourish and soften lips. Illipe butter (derived from Malaysian illipe trees) provides long-lasting moisture. And Vitamin C and vitamin E provide a hit of antioxidants.

Vice Lipstick comes in a modernized, luxed-up version of our original lipstick case that looked like a shotgun shell. It’s new, but speaks to our roots. The faceted gunmetal case has a gold base and debossed lettering, and our custom-designed lipstick features an embossed “UD.” We even added a shade-matched label (including the shade name and finish) to make it easy to find the right color within the depths of your bag.

I think I've been under estimating the power of a great nude lipstick. Or not really nude but neutral. It kind of reminds me of Whirl by MAC but this one goes with more and is much easier to wear because it isn't super matte.

It goes great with a smoky look, colorful looks...really almost everything. Almost.

The only thing is it's not long wearing but if you have the tube it is super easy to re-apply. The format I have it in doesn't make it very easy to apply but it was a great way to discover that neutral lipsticks really do have a place in my collection. I tend to buy more colorful, statement type lipsticks rather than neutral but I think this might change my mind.

Love it, best natural I have tried so far and I will probably end up with a full tube at some point.

What's your favorite natural lipstick?

Urban Decay Vice Vanished Lipstick Review

I really thought I would have all the Vice Lipsticks in the palette reviewed by now. I'll get there eventually. A lot of the colors I have are actually mostly gone. This particular color is taking a bit longer to use up however.

Urban Decay claims:
Prepare to get hooked. Vice Lipstick comes in a massive lineup of 135 addictive shades and six indulgent finishes—our biggest lineup yet!
Please note SALE shades do not qualify for Custom Engraving.

Our huge assortment also includes more finishes than ever before:
- MEGA MATTE: super-intense matte<
- COMFORT MATTE: our creamiest matte
- CREAM: the original: creamy, badass luxury
- METALLIZED: cream with a high level of pearl
- SHEER: a punch of color with a sheer, shiny finish
- SHEER SHIMMER: slightly transparent finish with floating pearl and a smooth texture

I think this color is discontinued.

I'm not sad about it. I don't like it. It is described as a pale neutral nude in a cream finish. It's just not flattering against brown skin tones. It's almost a pink beige type of color. Can go on pretty streaky. I have to blot most of it off. Lipliner can help.

It doesn't wear very long on my lips. I feel like I need to apply it every hour. And forget about eating with it on.

Sometimes I do wear it ultra sheer over top of a lip balm. Just to get rid of it really. It still seems to give off a slightly ashy cast. I tend to wear it when I wear color on my eyes. That way all the focus is on my colorful eye look.

Overall it's just not a good color for my skin tone. I can see how it could have worked on other skin tones though. But I'm not mad it's discontinued.
 Looks like ash-not cute!

Urban Decay EZ Lipstick Review

 It's the fourth color!

I took an extensive blogging vacation. I usually do around the Holidays. But I think I'm ready to come back to regular blog posts now-so here we go!

Urban Decay claims:

Prepare to get hooked. Vice Lipstick comes in a massive lineup of 135 addictive shades and six indulgent finishes—our biggest lineup yet!

This lipstick came in the VICE palette they came out with a couple years ago. Red is not a color I wear very often but I do love it. Throw on some red and I feel fancy. This particular red is an orange based red that looks great in the summer and nice in winter months too. I really love the color and I don't have a similar red already in my collection. They are all different anyway.

The VICE lipsticks are creamy and they aren't drying at all. They also wear long if I apply, blot, apply, blot, and apply. The only problem I have with this one is that it tends to settle into lip lines after awhile. And it does not look cute. I notice this problem with another of the single lipsticks I have in the creamy formula from Urban Decay.

Overall the color is excellent. The wear isn't that great after a couple of hours.

Random: Last year I got something from Tiffanys for Christmas. And now I have the iconic blue box-yay!!

Urban Decay Vice Disobedient Lipstick Review

Lipstick Review time! This time- the fourth color that came in the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick palette.

Urban Decay claims:
Disobedient- Cream Medium Pink

Prepare to get hooked. Vice Lipstick comes in a massive lineup of 135 addictive shades and six indulgent finishes—our biggest lineup yet!
Please note SALE shades do not qualify for Custom Engraving.

I'm not really a bright pink lipstick wearer. I tend to go for more fuchsia or purple type of pinks. Rich, darker pinks because I find they look best on my skin tone. A bright cool pink can look kind of clownish if not applied carefully on me.

And I have to apply this really carefully. It's just too bright so I have to blot it down a lot. Also, it tends to go on streaky. I think it's because of my coloring though, as I've seen it on other skin tones and there didn't seem to be a problem.

Another thing I notice is that it can kind of bunch up into lines and look patchy if you look closely. A lip scrub can help...but it can still settle even using a lip scrub beforehand.

Long story short, I'm not a fan.

But as always, I had fun trying such a fun color. And I will still be using it up by mixing it with other colors. I've found I really like mixing it with a blue toned reds. Then it gives me the prettiest rosy color and if I blot most of it off, it creates a lovely stain.

So I did have fun experimenting with it!

Unfortunately, it's not my favorite- and that's OK. There were some in the palette I loved and some not so much.

In order to not look so crazy I blotted it way down.

Have you tried any of the VICE lipsticks? Are you a bright pink wearer? What's your favorite?

Urban Decay Big Bang Lipstick Review

I'm taking a break from my Living Single Marathon. I just finished up Season 3 and I'm about to watch Season 4. One of my favorite shows. 90's sitcoms are the best. Max is definitely my favorite. Followed by Obie. Where are all the men like Obie these days?

Urban Decay claims:

METALLIZED: cream with a high level of pearl

I really need to review the rest of the Vice Lipstick palette I have because some of the colors I'm almost done with. I've finished up two shades and am just using it right up.

One of my favorite colors? Big Bang.

It's so unique to anything I've seen so far. It has little glitters in it. It looks so pretty in the right lighting. And somehow it's not gritty. I was seriously in awe the first time I used it. I can't get a picture to capture it.

One thing to note- it's on the sheer side. So I mostly wear it using a full coverage fuschia/magenta lipstick underneath and popping just a tiny bit around the center. Or if I'm feeling adventurous, all over.

See how sheer?

It looks best in night time lighting. Or lighting where metallics really have a chance to shine.

It's not the longest wearing lipstick. And I have noticed if I try to build it up, the glitters can kind of  go patchy after some wear time.  But applying a little over a base color didn't give me any problems.

Also, I have noticed it makes the prettiest highlight on the cheeks. Just a dab. And it's definitely a unique look but so pretty.

In conclusion, I love it. I wish it wore longer. This might be worth buying the full size. It's not without problems, but since I love the color I tend to overlook any issues.

Urban Decay Firebird Lipstick Review

I'm definitely an eyeshadow girl. Most times I would prefer to wear a popping' color on my eyes instead of a focal lip color. But lately I'm more into rotating. So maybe two days of fun colored eyes and then a day with a red or bright fuchsia or something like that.

This color is perfect for those days. I believe it came out with the Gwen Stefani Urban Decay collection- which I thought was boring outside of the lipsticks. Not long after, they released the VICE lipsticks and this color became a permanent shade. And I'm so happy it did.  Because it is gorgeous.

Urban Decay claims:

It almost reminds me of an old NYC color, but this is more vibrant. It's a cool fuschia purple with an almost blue toned shift to it.

The color is super pigmented and creamy. And also pretty long lasting on me. As long as I don't eat anything greasy I can wear it the whole workday..and a couple hours after. Also since it's staining, it wears away nicely. I  apply a thin layer-blot- another thin layer- blot, and one last layer. That's the method I apply almost all my lipsticks because I find I get the most out of them that way.

I got mine as gift in a VICE lipstick holiday palette...and it's my favorite shade. Once I run out I would repurchase after I use some of my other lipsticks up a little more.

The full size retails for $18 and you get .11 ounces.

Random:
For some reason I can't get enough of this song. I love the original but I can't find a live version, and Chante rocked this tribute so I figured I would post it. The lyrics are just so beautiful...

Urban Decay Sheer Shame Sheer Revolution Lipstick Review

Another quick review today, I have a lot to do. Including baking some kinda bread because I was in the bread aisle and at the bakery the other day and managed to not buy any . I even asked myself "Do you need to buy bread?" and answered myself with a very confident no. And it turns out I need some for tomorrow. So let's jump right in.

Urban Decay claims:
Sheer dusty rose.
The best of both worlds, Sheer Revolution Lipstick is everything you love about the original Revolution Lipstick—with a sheer, shiny finish. Every shade has a rich, creamy feel and a gorgeous, high-shine finish. Wait until you apply Sheer Revolution Lipstick for the first time—it feels amazing! Like our original formula, this sheer version hugs your lips and has a buttery-smooth application without feeling like it’s going to slide off.

Our Pigment Infusion System™ gives Sheer Revolution Lipstick its super creamy texture, superior color dispersion and extended wear. The formula is laced with Maxi-Lip™ (which defines and hydrates lips while making them look plumper and fuller), along with a nourishing blend of oils and antioxidants. Shea butter and jojoba, olive and babassu oils moisturize and condition, while vitamin C and vitamin E provide a hit of antioxidants.

Unlike a traditional bullet, Sheer Revolution Lipstick comes in a trimline-style component that supports its soft, creamy formula and prevents breakage while providing full-lip coverage in a single swipe.

I got this in one of the Vice lipstick palettes from one of my best friends. It's been a long time since I've had a lipstick palette so I was super excited to try all the colors. First one...Sheer Shame.

So right off the bat, I hate sheer lipsticks. They look good on some people. I'm just not a fan of them on me. But I'm open to changing my mind if the right color comes around. Unfortunately, this is just not the right color. Sheer burgundy or berry colors just look really boring on me and I can never find the right makeup colors to really compliment it.

It's also sheer and kinda glossy which means it really doesn't last long. If you have the stick version, it's easy to reapply, not so much in palette form. Another bonus of the glossy, sheer formula is that it's not drying so if you have lips on the drier side, these are a much better option than some of the matte lip shades.

So this particular one didn't really do it for me. But I did google and saw some people that this color looked beautiful on.

The sheer revolution shades are $10 on the Urban Decay site at the moment, so if you are drawn to the sheer ones it might be worth checking out.

Random:
The Lorac Megapro is on sale for $35. I've wanted to try Lorac shadows for a minute now. But I really, really don't need any new shadows. I wish I did though, I prolly would have ordered this in a heartbeat.

Wet N Wild Color Icon Lipliner in Chestnut Review

I need to do more actual makeup reviews. I have the makeup and most of my opinions are formed...it's just the taking pictures and sitting down to actually write the review. I need to work on that. So I'll start with a Wet N Wild lip liner. I finally finished up the Fashion Fair liners I've had forever, and I was in need of some new liner. I kind of wanted to try the MAC liners. But...I just really didn't want to pay the $16 or so dollars. So I decided to try out the Wet N Wild liners.

Wet N Wild claims:
unset and line! We don’t have a 30+ year cult following on these babies for nothing! We smile sheepishly every time we hear compliments for these guys. And let us just tell you, we’re smiling a lot! This rich, creamy formula glides on silky-smooth and makes sure your lip color doesn’t bleed so you’ll always have a well-defined pout. Makeup artists love to use this as a lipstick, applying it all over the lips. They last longer and make sure you’re not rocking that early 90s two-toned lip! As a matter of fact, Deborah Larsen, who previously worked as the Makeup Artist on the set of CW's Valentine, loves using wet n wild! "I am a huge fan of wet n wild. I love the whole line. My favorite product is the Lip liner in Brandy Wine" says Larsen.

Made in China

So...30 years. That's a long time. I didn't know these liners were that popular. Most people rave over the eyeshadows...or the lipsticks. I don't think I've ever heard anyone rave over the liners. But.....they should!

I bought this one..and the Fab Fuchsia (review coming later on sometimes, I barely use that one because Chestnut is my go with everything go-to!).

So..basically these liners last all day, they prevent my color from bleeding (when I've blotted appropriately), and they make colors that would otherwise look clownish on me...look pretty good. Many times it will outlast my lip color.

It's smooth, and easy to apply. I usually apply it over my lip color as apposed to before.

Also..it's the perfect color. Not what I picture when I think of Chestnut. It's a rosy brown. Very rosy. And it blends in perfectly with most colors I use it with.

And it's dirt cheap. 99 cents. Sometimes it goes on sale and then it's even cheaper.

I can definitely see why it has been around 30 years.

Here I am wearing it with NARS Cruella. Which I wasn't a fan of until I paired it with this liner. Also ignore the bags. I didn't get much sleep last night!

Ingredients:
Beeswax/Cire d'abeille, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax/Cire de carnauba, Petrolatum, Ceresin, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid, [+/- (MAY CONTAIN/PEUT CONTENIR): Mica, Iron Oxides/CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, Titanium Dioxide/CI 77891, Red 40 Lake/CI 16035, Red 7 Lake/CI 15850, Red 6 Lake/CI 15850, Yellow 5 Lake/CI 19140, Manganese Violet/CI 77742, Blue 1 Lake/CI 42090]

So to conclude, I love it. It's a favorite. It's worth a try!

MAC Lipstick Collection

Thought I would bang out a blog post in between waiting for the massive amount of food I ate to digest- before a workout of course. Or at least I'm trying to convince myself there will be workout. I started new program and can barely move. Oh, the joys of working out!

Anyway, I was looking through my make-up and noticed MAC makes up my of my lipstick collection. I don't have a lot of lipsticks...and I definitely need to branch out and try a couple different brands- but there's something about MAC lipstick. I didn't get the hype at first- but the lasting power is truly great. Some of them I can apply in the morning and get home after working 8 or 9 or so hours and it's still there, looking pretty good. So I love most of the ones I have...and I definitely want more.

But I think I need to use up some before I think about purchasing another.

1. MAC Girl About Town- My first MAC lipstick. I intended to give it to friend as a gift, but I didn't see her before I left school. So I ended up keeping it for myself. I wasn't sure about it at first, but now it's one of my faves. It just needs a tad bit of liner and I'm good to go. It lasts literally FORVER on the lips. And when it does finally wear off it leaves a pretty stain behind. LOVE IT.

2. MAC Heroine- This was gift from a friend! And a great one. I absolutely LOVE this color. It's sort of statement fun purple-and when I'm careful it lasts all day too. If I ran out of it or used it up, I would probably buy another one. And that's saying a lot of someone like me that always wants to try new colors.

3. MAC Candy Yum Yum- This is quite the bubblegum pink. It is BRIGHT. I have to tone it down with some liner for sure. I haven't actually worn it out yet-which is a shame. I need to though. I guess I'm just a little intimidated by how bright it is-this coming from a girl that has worn blue in public.

4. MAC Whirl- This is one I backed to MAC for. I was just really drawn in by the color. I think it makes a very pretty nude-but I have to be careful with how I put it on. I like to dab it on a little at a time or else it can look a little strange. It's like a pink-brown color. Super matte. And very neutral.

5. Rihanna Viva Glam 2- When I saw how unique the color was, this became a must have for me. Pinks, Purples, Oranges, red in all tones are a dime a dozen. Where do you see this color at? I really went out on a limb when I ordered it. And I love it. Especially with the gloss on top.

6. Rihanna Viva Glam 1-I pretty much got this because it came in the set. I should probably wear it. It just took the backseat to the Rihanna Viva Glam 2.

7. MAC Cyber- I saw this one in a tutorial....and fell in love with it. I had to have it. I talked it up so much I guess my sister noticed- because she got it for me for Christmas! I love it. It's not a color I would reach for everyday, but when you need a deep purple this one is nice.

8. MAC All Fired Up- Most of my MAC lipsticks are matte finish. I really love statement colors in matte formula apparently. Especially this color. It's a great, compliment getting color. Long lasting. And gorgeous. I love this one too!

9. MAC Sin- Another gorgeous one. I just googled this color and there are a tons of pics that make you think you need this now! It's a lovely color, although not as pretty on me as I've seen it look on other people. This was another gift from my sister- apparently I was googling this one and raving over it to her. Poor little sister. She's forced to listen to me blab about makeup all the time.

10. MAC Oxblood- Looks nothing like Oxblood. I mostly got this because I saw so many people rave over it and wanted to know what the hype was. It was sold out nearly everywhere- but it was there when I went in the Macy's. So it went home with me. It looks like a boring color...but actually it's quite pretty. I don't wear it often. Maybe I should change that?

And that's it. All my MAC lipsticks. I've been thinking about getting the famed Ruby Woo. But then again, I have enough reds and don't really wear red enough to justify purchasing another. Maybe one day if I finish one up? Until then this will be my MAC collection for awhile!

What are your favorite MAC shades?
