Ampro Pro Styl Curl Enhancer Gel Activator for Extra Dry Hair Review

I meant to post this yesterday but I was extra sleepy when I got home so I pretty much took a nap straight away. Then I got sucked into watching those horribly written, horribly acted Instagram movies. Which I will probably jump back into once this post is done. I find them so entertaining even though I can admit they are mainly garbage.

In the meantime Ampro. An old school brand. I thought I had used something by this brand since I started blogging- but I guess not. I did try the "brown" gel when I was in high school. I had no idea what to do with it and I felt like it made my hair crunchy and caused breakage. I was tempted to buy it again but didn't feel like dealing with the color getting everywhere. Also after looking into it, it really is meant for sculpting hair. Which is not a style I rock.

But I do wear a lot of wash n go's and this is perfect for that. Or is it?

Ampro claims:

Ampro Pro Styl® Curl Enhancer For Extra Dry Hair moisturizes and controls thirsty curls and waves! This unique formula is enhanced with Aloe and Olive Oil to help protect and hydrate the hair shaft. Developed to stimulate and define tight or coarse waves and curls, our Curl Enhancer controls frizz leaving hair looking healthy and shiny.

• Vegan formula designed to hydrate very dry, textured hair

• Olive Oil, Aloe and Glycerin deeply moisturize and protect hair shaft

• Free of alcohol, dyes, parabens, and protein

• Olive Oil and Aloe moisturize and control very thirsty, textured tresses.

• Stimulates and denes tight or coarse waves and curls without weighing hair down.

• Daily application helps hair retain its curl memory and controls frizz.

First things first- I wanted to look up if it was a black owned brand. It's marketed to us- and they own a lot of brands that are also marketed to those of us with textured hair/more melanin. And..it's not a black owned brand.

Moving on, it's a gel for dry hair. I've tried tons and tons of gels and I don't notice this being any more hydrating/less drying than any other kind of gel. I might even say it can be pretty drying. But then again, it does have glycerin which can pull moisture into or dry your hair depending on your climate. I took this with me to Greece and it dried my hair so much! Here in Germany it isn't anywhere near as bad.

It's easy to apply. I don't get flakes and it layers well with other leave in conditioners under it.

I get ok definition. I would say it doesn't do anything any other average gel wouldn't. My hair is very easily defined though.. For reference I have 4c hair that is defined after conditioning and combing out in the shower. The gels just help look it and and add a little shine.

The ingredients are pretty basic. I don't think I prefer a gel with such a high glycerin content. And it does have some ingredients that I don't feel great about- Carbomer etc I do like that it has a small amount of olive oil and aloe juice.

Ingredients:

Overall, it's OK. The price is more reasonable than some of the other gels I have reviewed in the past and is probably easily interchangeable with most of them  but I can't see myself repurchasing.

Camille Rose Curl Maker with Marshmallow and Agave Review

I had a great weekend but back to the Monday grind. I did end up blowing out my hair, flat ironing, and cutting a little over three inches of my hair. I need to cut a little more off because I still have about an inch of dry ends but I am going to wait until fall to straighten and attack the ends again. They already look and feel much better. I bought my own little hair cutting scissors which I probably shouldn't have. I keep wanting to grab them and cut more. I'm gonna have to hide them from myself because cutting hair and hearing and feeling the shears go through the hair brings me JOY.

But back to some  curly/coily/kinky hair stuff.  We have Camille Rose Curl Maker.

Camille Rose claims:

A defining jelly blended with marshmallow root and golden agave nectar to nourish and define curls.

Curl Maker is a curl defining gel and styling product that helps curls stay soft and bouncy. Our blend of marshmallow root, golden agave nectar, aloe juices, and nettle root delivers intense moisturization without weighing your natural hair down.

This brand has been on my list to try for a while. I remember hearing great things about it. I bought the curl maker and my sister placed a larger order from them on Black Friday. I was tempted but I need to mix up the brands I try and experiment more.  This is kinda around the price of Kinky Curly and some of the other gels for natural hair that are on the pricier side.  But at least the ingredients are better.

Before we get into ingredients...let's start with the scent. I don't like it. It smells like a lemon cleaning product. Luckily it's not strong. And it doesn't last. But I do dislike the initial whiff of it when I am using it.

I started off using the smallest amount of gel and didn't get any results. After I increased the amount I started getting more definition. About the same amount of definition I get with just about every other product. I could probably get even more definition if I brushed the product through and played in it more but I am usually too lazy.

What I like about this gel is it does add definition..maybe a bit of shine but most importantly  it doesn't dry my hair or make it crunchy whatsoever. I might even add just a bit of moisture. I usually use it with a leave n conditioner underneath which helps too.

I would choose to buy this over most other gels that I have reviewed and rated pretty highly just because the ingredients are better. There are no silicone or micr-plastic type ingredients. It is expensive..but I think it is worth it in the long run for the health of my hair.

Ingredients:

Deionized Water, Pectin, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Panthenol, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow) Leaf/Root Extract, Agave Americana (Agave) Leaf Extract, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Leaf Extract, Hydrolyzed Corn Starch, Xanthan Gum, Chondrus (Seaweed) Crispus Powder, Polysorbate 20, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B-12), Phenoxyethanol (Optiphen ND), Caprylyl Glycol, and Phthalate-Free Fragrance

Overall, I like it. I would buy it again. I think this is one I might actually buy again. Often times, I am so focused on buying and trying other things.  I say that often but don't follow through. I have a feeling I will with this though.

Samples Review: Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue, Miss Jessie's Coily Custard, Prada Candy Parfum

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue
I first heard of Charlotte Tilbury when a vlogger made a video
reviewing the products. There seems to be a bunch of vids on the line and each video sort of praised Charlotte Tilbury's work. It came across very fake though because I haven't heard anything from most of those vlogger's about her work since. That was my first impression of the line. Eventually I stumbled on her youtube channel but I was not really a fan. You can tell she only started the channel to sell her products and it doesn't really come across as genuine to me. Somewhere along the way I heard about her magic cream- a $100 moisturizer. Supposedly she mixed it up for her clients- which i doubt because when you read the ingredients it doesn't sound like anything she just whipped up. Basically I don't really have the best impressions of her line. But I'm always up to try out a sample! This particular product is $60 which pretty much guarantees it's not something I would purchase. Luckily the sample is decent and I got a couple days to really test it out. It helped with dark circles. But not fine lines. I haven't had much of a problem with fine lines, but I noticed when I used this I had strange folds happening in my eye area. I don't know what was happening but it was not cute. Now that I finished up the sample, it's not happening anymore. Not a product for me!

Edited to add: I almost forgot to talk about the scent. I don't think it's scented but it smells kind of funny. Almost chemical. I didn't really like that but it didn't linger.

Miss Jessie's Coily Custard
I feel like I've done a mini review on this..but apparently I haven't. This just reminds me of the Jelly soft curls that I thought it was the same product! It even has the same laundry detergent scent. I'm not a fan of the scent but luckily it doesn't stick around long. The texture almost reminds me of Kinky Curly. It's kind of thick and sticky and a little bit crunchy. But it really does give nice curl definition, especially on day 2. And a little bit of shine. I think this particular product is better than the Jelly Soft Curls. The ingredients aren't the best but it isn't as bad as some of the other products in their line. Overall, it's probably my favorite of the MissJessie's products I have tried. I just wish they would change the scent!

Prada Candy
I think this is one of the most popular scents at Sephora, which is why I wanted to try it. I actually really like it. It reminds me of an old Oscar De La Renta perfume I had with a little swedish fish candy scent and vanilla thrown in. It smells better than it sounds. It is strong (I learned that the hard way after spraying too much and ending up with a headache!). And it lasts forever! Most perfumes these days don't last past 2-3 hours so that was a pleasant surprise. It's a perfume I wouldn't mind having the full bottle of.

Those are the three samples I have for today! Hopefully I have another post up soon- I actually really like reviewing samples more than I thought I would.

Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curling Gel Souffle with Agave Nectar and Flax Seed Oi

I've been talking about using all natural hair products FOREVER and I am finally using them. Shea Moisture is a pretty popular (mostly) natural brand and I've tried a couple products from them. These days it seems like they have a TON of products out. Which can be a little overwhelming. I've tried the smoothie product from this same line and really liked it so I figured I would try other products from the line. I got this for $10 but if you keep an eye out for sales you can get a better deal.

Shea Moisture claims:
SheaMoisture's Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Gel Soufflé for thick, curly hair defines and promotes curls with a soft, smooth finish. This all natural styling aid moisturizes and conditions while leaving hair with a frizz-free, brilliant shine.

Coconut Oil - hydrates and protects while reducing frizz. Agave Nectar - delivers soft hold and body with a smooth after-feel. Flax Seed Oil - rich in Omega-3 essential fatty acids. Flax Seed Oil promotes strength while imparting shine.

Usage

Apply sparingly on wet or dry hair. Comb through with a wide tooth comb or fingers to shape curls. For tight colis, kinky or wiry hair, or for twist out styles apply to wet hair for maximum control and sealing properties. Allow time to dry. When using a blow dryer choose a cool setting. Apply to dry hair to reduce flyaways and frizz.

So first off, this is not your typical gel. It is very runny and liquid-y! It comes in a 12 oz container so you do get a decent amount for the price.

I'm not a fan of the smell. It's like sour coconuts. I don't like "sour" scents in my hair at all so that's a no go for me. It's odd because the other products in the line I have tried don't smell like that at all.

As for a wash and go it's OK. It gives you a little shine, some moisture, and light hold. As long you don't use too much it shouldn't be too sticky. I absolutely cannot use this on dry hair because of the stickiness.

I tried it for a twist out and was not happy at all. The product has some "grit" in it that looks like dandruff. It's not an attractive look. I tried to write the company and was very dissatisfied with their customer service. My first message wasn't answered until about two weeks later. I wrote them again three days after the first message and got an answer in two days...basically they said because they use natural ingredients some products are gritty. The response came off like "We really don't care if you are dissatisfied with the product. Too bad for you".  The grittiness is a quality control issue and they need to work on that!

I almost forgot to add the twist out was frizzy. I don't get a frizzy wash and go but the twists end up frizzy and sticky.

I do really like that the ingredients are all natural. I also like that the company engages in fair trade and their products are cruelty free.

Ingredients:
Aqueous Infusion of Agave Teqilana Leaf Extract and Sugar Cane Extract, Pectin, Vegetable Glycerin, Adansonia Digitata Pulp(Baobab) Extract, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)*, Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B-5, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract*, Tocopherol (Vitamin E - Vegetable Oil Source), Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed/Flax) Seed Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Proprietary Essential Oil Blend *Certified Organic Ingredient

Overall, this product was fine as long as I applied it in small amounts for a wash a go. Add a little more and I had "dandruff" looking pieces in it especially in a twist out. And the fact that I didn't really like the scent...this product just was not for me. Plus their customer service needs some work. I will probably be taking a nice little break from their products.

Worst 5 Hair Styler/Moisturizers

There's nothing worse than trying a new hair product and discovering your hair absolutely hates it. But then I wouldn't be able to write a list like this! So I guess it has it's pluses.

Most normal people will just throw out the product but I hate throwing things out. It's very rare that I actually do that. Most times I can just add another product to it and at least make it useable. This list of products are things that I had a hard time salvaging.

I guess it will help if I tell you my hair type. I have mostly 4a hair with a random patch of 3c at the back of my head. I have fine hair but just a lot of it so it looks like I have thick hair.

1. Carol's Daughter Hair Balm- This one I remember right off the bat. When I first started trying Carol's Daughter Hair products I was so excited to get my hands on them...but most of them were horrible in my hair. Actually all except one which made my Top 5 Hair Styler/Moisturizers post.   Anyway, back to the product at hand. This was a part of Jada Pinkett Smith's dynamic duo and she has nice hair (when she isn't wearing a wig or lace front) so I thought it would be fun to try. Basically this was like rubbing petroleum jelly in my hair. Greasy, shiny, yet dry hair. This product does not contain petroleum jelly in it oddly enough. Plus, I hated the smell of it. It was just way too strong and floral for me.

2. Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding- This may be making the list more so because I don't like the brand at all. This post I found on another blog explains why pretty well...but the short of it is that the products use cheap ingredients but has the nerve to be almost $60 for the larger size (which is not that large). My hair looks nearly the same as it did with any other product. ONE TIME, I did get really defined hair but it was the technique more so then the product. And I hated the smell, it was way to cloying and perfumy.

3. Taliah Waajid- For some reason I was under the impression that this product was all natural....most of the ingredients aren't really that great in this product. It had shea butter and normally my hair LOVES Shea. This product went in my hair and sucked all available moisture right out of my hair. It was one of the weirdest experiences I've ever had with a product. And when I washed it out, it made my hair even more tangled. I also couldn't stand the smell. I haven't tried anything else from the brand but I'm not opposed to trying more, it's just this product was really awful in my hair.

4. ORS Olive Oil Smooth N Hold Pudding- This product was awful in my hair. Turned my hair white, no curl definition, and really dry hair. I've only had one ORS product that has worked for my hair.

5. Shea Moisture Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner- My hair really hated this stuff. It smelled like this pink medicine I used to take as a child-but it did smell better once it dried. The ingredients in this are great though so I'm not sure why my hair hated this stuff so much. I really like the brand but this product just didn't do anything for me.

These are just what I deem my worst five. Of course there are some honorable mentions- Blue Magic Hair Grease (any grease full of petroleum/mineral oil really),  Pantene Relaxed and Natural Daily Moisturizer, and Mixed Chicks Leave In Conditioner.

Overall, these are the products that I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

What are some of the worst products you have tried?

Top Five Hair Moisturizers/Stylers

I recently posted my top five shampoos and conditioners, now it's only right to include a list of my favorite hair styling/moisturizing products.

I did think about splitting this up into gels, leave-ins, etc because I thought that would just drag the whole thing out unnecessarily.

But enough blabbing, let's start the countdown!

1. Shea Butter. Sometimes I forget about how much my hair loves Shea Butter and I abandon the stuff months at a time. Shame on me! Once I try it again, I'm wondering why I ever stopped using it. My hair doesn't care which color...white or yellow-as long as it's pure shea butter. I have never used anything that truly moisturized my hair when wet or dry until I used Shea-and I haven't found anything else since. Most moisturizers make my hair greasy on the outside but dry on the inside. It sound weird but it's true. You probably know what I'm talking about if you've ever coated your hair in a petroleum based grease (don't do it!).

Anyway, pure shea- try it! You won't be sorry! For ultimate curl definition I use Shea Butter then scrunch some gel in it. This is another thing that always works for my hair, yet I never seem to do it. Tried it again- worked like a charm!

2. Garnier Curl Construct Mousse-Cheap and I get super defined curls just scrunching this in. This is purely a styling product for me because the ingredients are not so great. If I use this too often it can dry my hair a little. Another good one is the Curl Sculpting Cream Gel by them.

3. Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter- As a rule Carol's Daughter products don't work for my hair. Except this one. My hair could not get enough of this. When I was using it I had many good hair days and great moisture. The problem? I hate the scent! But I can deal with the scent because it makes my hair feel goooood! Gossip Time: Carol's Daughter has been sold to L'oreal!?! Apparently they were going bankrupt-I'm not surprised because the brand sells out more and more every time I turn around....

EDIT- Just realized the ingredients on this changed...no longer as effective as it used to be!

4. Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie- I really like this brand, but it's usually a hit or miss for me. They have some great ingredients though so even when I don't love the product I like knowing I'm putting good stuff in my hair. This makes my hair a little defined. Not as defined as some of stuff I have tried. BUT the scent of this in my hair- amazing! This stuff smells stupid good.

5. Sunsilk Captivating Curls Gel Cream Twist- This looks like a marketing gimmick but this stuff works I tell ya! My hair loves a combination of a creamy product+gel and this does the mixing for you! I used to hear a lot about this brand but not so much anymore. I just checked their website and it looks like they discontinued all their curly girl stuff. Boo, hiss!! This stuff is amazing.

As you can tell, most of this stuff has it's downfalls BUT out of everything I have tried these are some things I have loved- but I don't mind knocking them off the list if I find something better. .In fact some of these might be knocked off pretty easily- all except Shea Butter!

What are your favorite hair products?

Kinky Curly Original Curling Custard

This was one of the first things I wanted to try when I went natural. Somehow, I've been natural about four years and I've never tried it. Mostly because of the price. This stuff is not cheap. I paid twenty for it from Amazon and only because I needed an add on for free shipping. Of course I got the smaller size. They sell it in Target, if your lucky enough to live by one

Kinky Curly claims:

CURLING CUSTARD TM gives moisture and curl definition, hold and brilliant shiny hair all in one product!

It reduces bulk, defines & elongates your curls helping them to 'hang' better. CURLING CUSTARD TM will bring out the natural curl or wave pattern you never knew you had!It is an advanced botanical formula made with ALL NATURAL ingredients that nourish and strengthen the hair. Utilizing the humectant properties of the Agave Nectar, CURLING CUSTARD TM will give weight to your hair, define your curls, remove frizz, provide long lasting hold and shine without ever being greasy, crunchy or drying to your hair. This high performance product is very concentrated so a little goes a long way.

For best results apply CURLING CUSTARD TM to soaking wet, freshly washed hair. For very kinky and tightly coiled hair use KNOT TODAY TM as a leave-in conditioner then apply CURLING CUSTARD TM to soaking wet hair in small sections. Smooth each section with fingers from root to tip.

So, I'll start off with scent. It smells good, like vanilla cupcakes, but the scent doesn't last long. In some of the review videos I watched before I bought it, a lot of people compared the texture to runny snot. They were right. I've never used a gel with that texture before.

They recommend using it with the Knot Today. But I am not spending an extra twenty bucks. That makes forty dollars for just one product. My mom did have some Knot Today left that she bought over the summer. I don't think it makes that big of a difference and you could definitely try other leave-ins. Just be careful because not all leave-ins play nice with the curling custard.

The way your supposed to use it is to run it through small sections of hair. I don't have time for all of that but I tried it anyway. My hair is a little more defined than any other product has ever made it. (But then again my 4a curls aren't hard to define)And it has a little shine to it. Unfortunately, when I do it that way I used about a third of the container. Not Cool.So now I just clump it through my hair and rub it in. Works just as well.

I think this product works a bit better on looser hair types. It's not heavy enough to weigh my curls down and I get A LOT of shrinkage.

Also the most this lasts is about three days. The second day is definitely the best. After that I'm left with a frizzy mess.

Ingredients:
botanical infusion of water, horsetail, chamomile, nettle and marshmallow, organic aloe vera juice, agave nectar extract, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin e), pectic, citric acid, potassium sorbate and natural fragrance

Overall, it was an OK product. At this price, it should be exceptional. Fun to try, but I probably won't buy it again.

Garnier Fructis Curl Sculpting Cream Gel

So my last review was for that Pantene stuff that stunk so bad I actually threw it away. And I never throw away anything. But anyway, after that stuff I just wanted something that would smell great, and I love Garnier because the products always smell great. So I paid around $2.50 which is a nice cheap price. So if I didn't like it so what? But I actually do like this stuff! So win for me!

Garnier claims:
Bouncy Curls Frizz Control.  Extra Strong.
Sculpted curls without the crunch?  Garnier Fructis Style introduces new Curl Sculpting Cream-Gel, the first curl styling product that  gives curls everything they crave:  control and conditioning.
What Is Curl Sculpting Cream-Gel?
A new generation curl styling product uniquely formulated by balancing the controlled definition of a gel with the soft, subtle conditioning of a cream.
How Does It Work?
Garnier Fructis Style Curl Sculpting Cream-Gel with fruit micro-waxes delivers curl-sculpting polymers and silicones, perfectly balanced with moisturizing conditioners, in a cream-gel formula that leaves curls defined and bouncy.

How to use: Apply a quarter size amount of cream gel to slightly damp hair. Rake hair with fingers or comb
through from root to tip for even distribution. Let air dry or dry with a diffuser.

So I'll start off with smell. I LOVE the scent. It's a very fruity blend of grapefruit, apple, orange, and a frew other scents that smell yummy. And the scent lingers all day so I catch whiffs of it throughout the day!

Next up comes the hold and defining. Which are excellent. My hair is extra coily and the curl just snaps back. My hair isn't dry...it isn't extra soft either because after all this IS a gel.

The texture is kinda gummy when I put it on. What I love about it is it doesn't leave that annoying white residue that I hate having to wait for to dry. I use about a half-dollar amount and I'm good to go. I usually like to co-wash before I put this in for a little extra moisture.

If you read the front of the package it actually has shea butter in it. And I love Shea. Now granted it is a SMALL amount but still.

Ingredients:
Aqua/Water/Eau, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Sorbitol, Propylene Glycol, PEG/PPG 4/12 Dimethicone, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, PVP, Parfum/Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Polyquaternium 37, Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Ethylparaben, Linalool, Limonene, PPG 1 Trideceth 6, Amyl Cinnamal, PEG 70 Mango Glycerides, Shea Butter, Citral,Geraniol, Triethanolamne

Overall, I love this stuff! It's perfect for my 4a curls and I would recommend it if you are on the hunt for a good gel!

Fantasia IC Hair Polisher Olive Styling Gel

I've used the original but thought it was about time for me to try the one for dry har. Can't go wrong with Olive Products or can you?

I paid $3.99 for it. Or $4.99. I can't really remember.

Scent:
It smells like your typical Olive scented product. Nothing amazing, nothing offensive. I have used the original but I can't really remember what it smelled like.

Moisturization:
Let's just say, it doesn't dry my hair and leave it at.

Shine:
Honestly, it's average.

Hold:
It's OK. Nothing spectacular and nothing bad about it.

Does it define my curls?
Umm, honestly I've used things that did a better job at defining my hair.

Ingredients:
Purified Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Extract, Hydrolyzed Silk, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Dimethicone Copolyol, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vit. E), Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Polysorbate-20, Benzophenone-4, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance (Parfum).

As you can tell, I feel this product was just "average". I don't love it, and I don't hate it. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to buy it again.

Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Smooth N Hold Pudding

I finally ran out of the Carols Daughter product I was using and ran to the store for this. It was only about five bucks but I've seen it cost up to six. I'm generally unlucky when it comes to products by this company. Was this an exception?

ORS claims:

  • Great for natural and relaxed hair styling
  • Non-flaking formula
  • Alcohol-free

Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Smooth-n-Hold Pudding moisturizes, shines, and holds hair. Lightweight and ideal for smoothing hair and holding down ponytails. Alcohol-free formula won't dry out hair or cause flaking.

It was NOT an exception. It makes my hair so DRY. And the day after...I don't even wanna describe it.

It takes forever to dry, and it turns my hair white. (Blech)

The smell is ok. It's like a cucumbery type scent. It is pretty strong and will stick to your hair.

You do get ALOT of product though, which would be a positive if I liked these products.

Ingredients:
Aqua (Water) , Cocos Nucifera Oil (Coconut) , Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil) , Polyquaternium-11 , Glycerin , Sodium Cetearyl Sulfate , Cetearyl Alcohol , Polysorbate-60 , PEG-150 Stearate , Cetyl Alcohol , Ceteareth-20 , PEG-20 Hydrogenated Lanolin , PEG-40 Stearate , Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice , Olea Europaea Fruit Oil (Olive) , Simmondsia Chinensis Oil (Jojoba) , Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado) , Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Sweet Almond) , Phenyl Trimethicone , PEG-12 Dimethicone , Oleth-20 , Carbomer , Triethanolamine , DMDM Hydantoin , Methylchloroisothiazolinone , Methylisothiazolinone , Parfum (Fragrance) , Benzyl Benzoate , Citronellol , d-Limonene , Eugenol , Geraniol , Hexyl Cinnamal , Lilial , Linalool , Methyl Ionone , Blue #1 (CI 42090) , Yellow #5 (CI 19140)

Would I recommend?

NO!!

I should probably stop trying their products. I do remember that the Carrot Cream was amazing for my relaxed hair though, maybe I'll give them one more try.

Fantasia IC Hair Polisher Styling Gel with Sparkle Lites 16 oz

This is the most raved about gel on the hair boards. So of course it went on my list of products to try. I paid about five dollars for it which isn't bad considering the 16 ounces of product you get.

It's Claims:
The greatest shine on earth!Aloe, Vitamins and Wheat Protein.Alcohol free.Non-flaking.
With hair protective sunscreen.Hair Polisher Styling Gel gives great body, manageability, volume and shine.Perfect for blow styling, roller sets, molding, sculpting, lifting and other styling techniques.
Polisher Gel smoothes curly hair for a more natural, hair styling look.Defies gravity, conditions and hold hair styles all day.

This gel is THICK. Because it's so thick it's kind of hard to spread around. Especially for a wash and go. The scent is light and pleasant enough. It dissapears almost as soon as you put it on. Anyway, I have to say this isn't my favorite for a wash and go. My curls don't get as defined as they have with other products, it frizzes, it's hard to spread around. I do like that my hair never got crunchy or hard or dry. But there are better things out there for my hair.

It is good for slicking the hair back. It's also good if you break the hair into sections and apply the gel then pass the denman brush through your hair. Then your curls will be frizz free and nice and shiny. But with my hair my curls are so small it isn't really worth it at this length to do that. I would definitely reccomend it if you have a looser hair pattern than me though.

Ingredients:
Purified Water (Aqua) , Glycerin , Carbomer , Triethanolamine , Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice , Dimethicone Copolyol , Tocopheryl Acetate , Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein , Polysorbate-20 , Benzophenone-4 , Methylchloroisothiazolinone , Methylisothiazolinone , Disodium EDTA , Fragrance (Parfum)

The ingredients aren't all natural but it has some good stuff in it.

So overall, I like it but in terms of the way I wear my hair, it just isn't really what I'm looking for. I would reccomend it though because I think this is the most loved gel on the hair boards. There are some amazing video's on youtube of people that use it to define their curls.

Sunsilk Captivating Curls Gel Cream Twist Review

Let me start off by saying the only reason I was attracted to this product was the packaging. The cream all twisted in the gel is sooooooooooo cool. Trust me, you could look at it for days....maybe not. But the packaging is definitely impressive. Plus I saw a few good reviews on youtube. So...lets get on with the review..

I really really like this stuff. It smells fresh and clean and the smell dissipates not long after you put it on. It's not drying but it's definitely not moisturizing so make sure you use some type of moisturizer at night. I would be careful when layering this with other products though. It doesn't flake...YAY! It doesn't make my hair hard. And the good news...it holds my baby curl all day without it turning into a bucket of frizz....it brings out curls even when my shampoo and conditioner don't make my curls pop....

The only bad thing I can think of is that it runs out too quick...but this could be my imaginations....I'd give it three and a half weeks....I only use about three pumps.....

But, yes, I definitely like this stuff....maybe even love it....and it was only about four dollars...

Smooth N' Shine Curl Activating Gel for Extra Dry Hair-Review

Curl Activating Gel? That's the stuff used for Jeri Curls, right? At least that's what I thought. So I did some research before I bought the product just to see what people used curl activating gel for. I got an abundance of answers, the most obvious being to activate curls, DUH. But some people also use it for twists and good old moisture.

So I took the plunge and bought some. As soon as I got home I opened the jar and sniffed. Blah. It smelled gross. Like some sort of lemon cleaning product. For the Hair. Need I say more?As for price, it was pretty cheap at about three dollars. And it lasts for about a month using it everyday.

So, how did it work? As far as activating....the results were....well..it was hard for me to figure out how to used the stuff...I mean..I used it on wet hair and all I would end up with was a greasy, wet, shrunken, sticky mess with frizz and no defined curls anywhere. I tried it damp and ended up with the same results. Finally, I tried it on dry hair and it worked a little bit better with some alright curls. If I used a WHOLE lot then I ended up with stretched out curls that looked cute but touching is a whole other issue. After touching my hair my hands felt coated and when you rub them together you get those little rolley polley effect (kinda like glue). But I must say this works reall well in my kitchen area. This has to be the best kitchen moisturizing product ever. PERIOD.

But I have to admit, although it wasn't great at activating curls,it moisturized my hair really well. And when I woke up the next day it wasn't all stuck to my head. I could just fluff and apply more and go. But then again I hated the way my hair felt.....icky. I wouldn't let anyone touch my hair with this in it.

As far as ingredients go.....The are some good ingredients in this. Glycerin, aloe extract, wheat protein, and panthenol (which is basically just Vitamin B5). Other ingredients are not so great and have been linked to cancer, organ toxicity, and neurotoxicity but luckily they are more towards the end of the ingredient list.

So the last question is would I buy this product again? Nope, firstly because I'm such a PJ and lastly because it does have bad ingredients in it. But like I said, it is one hell of a kitchen moisturizer.
