It snowed. It really came down today. Most of it is gone though. That was the wakeup call I needed to tell me that winter is coming.

Looking at the overseas price- I really should have bought it here and saved a few dollars. Even with the exchange rate I could have saved money. Whoops. Live and learn I guess.

I can tell you it's not worth the money. Most of the clear type deodorants really don't work for me. I should be able to tell from the ingredients but it's just a lesson I must be refusing to learn. It reminds of the last one I bought, right down to the Eucalyptus scent. Which I don't think agrees with me at all, at least not in a deodorant scent. I have to re-apply. Re-apply. Re-apply. And forget wearing it overnight. Eww.

It's not as bad as the Malin and Goetz one but it's not good either.

By now I can really look at the ingredients and tell if something is gonna work for me. Anytime a deodorant has any kind of glycol high in the list- it doesn't work for me. Then there are a bunch of ingredients- can't tell what they are. Also tends to meant it won't work. It does have eucalyptus and grapefruit water. I guess it's good for the pitts? Idk. There is grape juice too. Normally I eat up natural ingredients but...grape juice in deodorant? Eh.

Ingredients:
ingredients : butylene glycol, glycerin, propanediol, aqua/water/eau, sodium stearate, polyglyceryl-4 caprate, polyglyceryl-6 caprylate, citronellyl methylcrotonate, vitis vinifera (grape) fruit water, eucalyptus globulus leaf oil, caprylyl glycol, limonene, vitis vinifera (grape) juice, citric acid, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, citronellol. (270/030)

Overall, doesn't work for me. I regret purchasing it  My second product from the brand...I did try the viral spray a couple months back and it was OK. Overpriced...but I'll leave the review here in case you want to read it in full.

Humble Palo Santo and Frankincense Deodorant Review

Back again..just a quick deodorant review today. I think I'll be back for one more later on. I have a lot to do today so I'm not sure. Here's hoping.

Humble claims:

  • Just 4 simple ingredients, plus botanically-based fragrances
  • Formulated to absorb & neutralize body odors
  • Keeps you feeling fresh
  • Nothing Bad® No aluminum, alcohol, parabens, dyes or artificial fragrance
  • Love-it Guarantee: Try it risk free!

I ordered a few deodorants from this brand after I picked up the Patchouli and Copal over the summer. I was thrilled when I saw these come in cardboard packaging. Completely plastic free and easily recyclable. I love to see it. And I must say I was a little skeptical but the packaging holds up to travel and everything else. I really wish more companies would follow suit and use cardboard packaging made out of recycled material. Here's hoping.

They have a lot of interesting scents on the website. This one was really very  intriguing. I don't know exactly what Palo Santo smells like...so when I see it I am very likely to grab it. I do know what Frankincense smells like though. I definitely get that part of the scent, it smells just like the Essential Oil. And then it kinda smells like Star Anise Oil. And that part of the scent I don't enjoy. Overall, it's not my favorite scent and I would not buy this particular scent again.

Other than that it works better than most but not perfectly. It can stain shirts but it washes right out. I think that's the baking soda and coconut oil. I am sensitive to baking soda but I don't have a ton of trouble with this.

I do have to reapply it throughout the day. But it works better than most other natural deodorants out there so it's mostly OK with me.

It's not your typical texture and is very much a cream like with the grit of the baking soda. If you've never used a baking soda deodorant it will take some time to get used to.

It has simple ingredients. It would be very easy to DIY. Just baking soda, fractionated Coconut Oil, and beeswax. Oh and the Essential Oils.

It's my favorite of all the deodorants I have tried lately...but it's not perfect. I do see myself ordering and trying out other scents though because I do like the brand.

Malin + Goetz Eucalyptus Deodorant Review

One more post and then I am done for the day. Despite many of them not working for me, I keep on buying deodorants that run on the higher end. I can't seem to help myself. This is just one I got in my last haul. I've tried a few things from Malin and Goetz....nothing has really blown me away. But they make some interesting and fun to try products. This wasn't one of them.

Malin and Goetz claims:

a deodorant with natural eucalyptus + citronellol for odor neutralization.

our best-selling product.
our deodorant contains refreshing natural eucalyptus extract and odor-neutralizing citronellol and is suitable for all skin types, especially for sensitive skin. is absorbed without residue. natural fragrances and dyes.

Lucky for me this came in a smaller size and I bought the small one instead of springing for the full size.

I hate this deodorant.

It kinda works for a few hours and then it stops working. And it's absolutely horrible to wear overnight...it does the opposite of working overnight. It's worse than not wearing any deodorant at all.  I should have known looking at the ingredients and the fact that it's clear. Those clear type of deodorant never work for me.

The packaging is...ok. It comes in the substantial feeling plastic like most higher end deodorants do. I'll be sure to put it in the recycle. There is one thing that's very frustrating about it, if you don't roll it down you can't close it. You have to roll it down to close. A problem worth mentioning- especially with the price.

Almost forgot to talk scent- it's nothing special It just smells exactly like Eucalyptus oil.

Ingredients:

Propylene Glycol, Water/Aqua/Eau, Sodium Stearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Hexylene Glycol, Citronellyl Methylcrotonate, Caprylic Triglyceride, Sodium Hydroxide, Limonene.

Overall, not a fan. Not a fan at all.

Humble Patchouli & Copal Deoderant Review

I've had a busy Sunday. So busy and yet doing nothing I had really planned to. I have been planning to go through my clothes and do another purge...I've been trying to replace some of the things with higher quality...and just ensure I have clothes to do the things I wanna do. It's a low and steady process that I am still working on. Just not today.

In the meantime- I've got yet another natural deodorant review.

I bought this in the summer when I was in the states. The Native deodorant I was using ran out and I needed a replacement but I was trying to keep it more natural. They had a lot of options but I ended up going with the Patchouli option because I love Patchouli and I was curious about Copal.

Per Google Copal is:

Copal is an aromatic, recent or fossilized resin from various tropical trees, particularly Bursera species, historically used in Mesoamerican Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) rituals, as incense for purification and to connect with the spiritual realm.

Sounds cool, I can't believe I haven't heard of it, I'm intrigued though and hope I can find it in other products.

The main scent I get is Patchouli. Which smells so good! It has an earthy, exotic type of smell. I love the Patchouli Essential Oil but sometimes I'm not a big fan of it in some perfumes. Just depends how it's used.

This definitely has a gritty texture. Kind of like what you would get if you made your own DIY Coconut Oil and Baking Soda deodorant.

You will still sweat. And this will leave stains behind that do wash out pretty easily. If it doesn't you may want to try dish soap to get it out since I think it is essentially an oil stain.

I do have to carry it with me and reapply . But it's more like "oh, I need to reapply" rather than "OHHHH, I NEED TO REAPPLY".

I first bought the plastic bottle version. I had to re-order it because they don't sell it locally and was thrilled to find they have a plastic free version. If I can reduce my plastic use, I will. I was worried about how it would hold up but it's been perfectly, perfect. It's what I will buy going forward.

So far, it's my favorite natural deodorant. I will likely keep repurchasing until I have something better and maybe try other scents every now and again....

Billie All Day Deodorant in Lavender Milk Review

I usually don't do posts on Saturday but I'm avoiding my to-do list and I really want to chuck this awful product in the recycle bin. I should have thrown it out months ago..but I didn't want to waste so I kept it.

Billie claims:

Our sheer solid deo is made with aluminum-free ingredients that help absorb and neutralize odor for 24 hours.

  • Lavender Milk scent: soft lavender, fresh bergamot, and a pink pepper pop.
     Made in USA

It was the packaging that got me. I love that pinky-purple color and the packaging just looks so sleek and modern. I was also intrigued by the scent- Lavender Milk.

It doesn't smell anything like real lavender. It kinda reminds me of a Lady Speed Stick scent but slightly better.

But it doesn't work. It does the opposite of working. It's probably one of the worst deodorants I have ever used. I checked reddit to see if anyone else had the same experience and read of people talking about rashes they got from this...and yep. I would agree. I got a few rashes but thought it was because I was using a few different products in a rotation.

The ingredients seem harmless enough. Not sure what ingredient is supposed to the deodorizing. I should have known to avoid it!

Ingredients:

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Tapioca Starch, Paraffin, Magnesium Hydroxide, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Microcrystalline Wax, Fragrance, Zinc Ricinoleate, Synthetic Wax.

Overall, horrible. Avoid.

Native Coconut and Vanilla Deodorant Review

This was the deodorant I took to the states with me to endure 90 degree plus weather. Was it a wise choice? Ehhh.

Native claims:

Lounging on a sunny beach on your favorite tropical island. A delicious cocktail of coconut, pineapple, citrus, and vanilla notes. Total vacay vibes.

  • 72-hour odor protection. Effectively controls odor for up to 72 hours
  • Aluminum free. Free of aluminum salts, parabens, and phthalates
  • Thoughtfully made. Formulated with clean, naturally derived ingredients
  • Coconut & Vanilla Scent. A tropical cocktail of coconut, pineapple, citrus, and vanilla notes that smell like a vacay
  • Cruelty-free and vegan. Never tested on animals and no animal-derived ingredients
  • Over 150,000 5-star reviews. A lot of happy Native customers with fresh-smelling pits

2.65 oz

I feel like I've been seeing this everywhere but at the same time I haven't seen it anywhere. I think it comes up on Amazon or Amazon recommend it to me. Not sure. It's pretty pricey online though. I bought this at my local store for almost $10.00.

So first things first- comes in plastic packaging. As most deodorants to. I just make sure to recycle but I do wish more companies would explore plastic free options.

Slice of coconut cake coconut cake stock pictures, royalty-free photos & images

Next up, scent...it smells like a Coconut Vanilla Birthday cake. Very sweet and although I don't love most coconut scents- I like this one. Most just fail to capture the coconut but this does so very well.  I don't think the scent hangs around long though. But if you like gourmand, food scents- you would like this.

It works for me. For the most part- except when I stress sweat. Then it doesn't work. This is good one for me to wear when I am just hanging out around the house though. The ingredients are cleaner than other brands.

It claims 72 hours. Which is a bold claim. I could never go 72 hours without a shower..so I won't be testing that.

It is a baking soda based formula which those always work the best for me but they tend to tear up my skin. I typically getting horrible, itchy and peeling rashes from baking soda. Not with this.

Ingredients:

Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Baking Soda, Tapioca Starch, Ozokerite, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Magnesium Hydroxide, Cyclodextrin, Fragrance.

Overall, only a good option for me in the house. I do wish the price was a little better too. I would repurchase but I want to try other scents. I have read of some people saying some of the scents work better than others.

And now I need to try and stave off the craving I suddenly have for some coconut cake....

Clinique Anti-Perspirant Deodorant Roll On Review

I am so sleepy right now..so figured I had better do this post before I knock out on the couch. Hopefully I get up and start the dishwasher first at least. I am very guilty of going to sleep and waking up to still dirty dishes. But in the meantime, since I've started this post...

Clinique claims:

The highly effective, non-staining formula protects all day long against moisture and odors caused by perspiration. Simply roll up, dry quickly.

I've used Clinique on and off over the years. It's not a terribly exciting brand. Actually it's quite boring! Compared to other counter brands- it was more affordable. Key word being "was." Now the price is creeping up. I might still try a thing or two every now and again...

Like this deodorant. It worked fine in the spring. Or when I don't work out but now that the heat has turned up...not working nearly as well. I was fooled enough that I picked up a 2nd one and I definitely regret it. Lesson to me- wait to make sure you really like it before wasting money a second time .

I generally don't like liquid or roll on on deodorant. Most of the time they take forever to dry and are never as effective as cream/sticks.

This one has been better than others- but not perfect. It doesn't take forever to dry. Nor does it feel uncomfortable and sticky when I put it on.

Packaging is a little boring. It's unscented but it has an interesting scent to it. I don't really know how to describe it but once you put it on it dissipates and you really can't smell it anyway unless you sniff it.

Ingredients:

Ingredients: Water Aqua Eau, Aluminum Chlorohydrate, Ceteth-2, Ppg-11 Stearyl Ether, Steareth-20, Myristalkonium Chloride, Quaternium-14, Trisodium Edta, Sorbic Acid <ILN34256>

Very short ingredient. Don't really see that much in products like these.

Overall, not really worth the price tag to me..so I have repurchased but I won't be repurchasing anymore.

Megababe Rosy Pitts Daily Deodorant Review

I have been experimenting with a lot of natural deoderants- some are great. Most are not so great. I bought from this brand before-I had the cream deo. Which seemed more like pitt skincare than actual deodorant. It's not the worst brand- but for the money it doesn't really that well.

Megababe claims:

A clean deodorant that swipes on clear and actually works? Meet Rosy Pits Daily Deodorant!

This best-selling deo has been gently updated with additional odor-fighting and skin-boosting ingredients. Enzymes and extracts break down odor and absorb wetness without aluminum or baking soda. Antioxidant-rich botanicals give delicate underarm skin a boost while willow bark, oatmeal and amino acids combine to restore, soothe and hydrate. The water-based formula glides on like a dream — no tugging and no sticky residue!

Best of all, the fresh, rosy scent will have you sniffing your pits all day long!

Featured in: AllureElleGlamourThe StrategistRefinery29The CutRepellerThe Today ShowObserverBusiness Insider

Made in the USA

This brand is largely a more natural deodorant brand. They have all kinds of deodorants. I guess this one is meant for everyday?

I'll start with the packaging. It's the super sturdy plastic- it says it's made from 100% recycled plastic and it does say to make sure you recycle. You would think that makes it great packaging...and nope! I couldn't get the lid off the top so I pull the entire stick out and use it from the bottom. Very inconvenient because I always get it on my hands. And that's not what I expect from a $14 deodorant.

It does come with quite a bit of product at 2.6 ounces. Sometimes the higher priced stuff barely fills the packaging but I'm happy with the amount- even though it does go quickly with all the re-applying.

As for the scent- I thought it would smell like roses. And it doesn't. I kinda think it smells like men's deodorant. I can't really describe the scent at all. It's OK. And probably once I finish it I won't remember the scent whatsoever.

Now most importantly- it does not work! Well, it works for a couple of hours...but I don't trust it in the heat. Especially with no air conditioning. Nor when working out. And not for more than 4-6 hours. It's one you have to constantly reapply.

It does have some nice ingredients...and I should have known from the ingredient list it wouldn't work that well for me. It contains a lot of really nice ingredients...rose oil, willow bark extract, caffeine, arginine, oat flour, green tea extract, aloe sage, and coconut oil.

Ingredients:

Propylene Glycol, Water , Sodium Stearate, Saccharomyces Ferment, Propanediol, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Fragrance, Hydrated Silica, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Squalane, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Caffeine, Arginine (Amino Acid), Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour, Glycerin, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Silica Cetyl Silylate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydrogenated Olive Oil Unsaponifiables, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Water.

Overall, it works better than a lot of other natural options. But not well enough.i I might still try others from the brand- but I wouldn't purchase this again.  And the packaging was a let down. I kinda wonder why the brand doesn't do refills or something to cut down on the plastic?

Baxter Citrus and Herbal Musk Essence Deodorant Review

I just finished re-watching part one of the seventh season of Outlander  and I'm about to dig into part 2. Only being delayed by this post. Bummer. I wish I didn't have to get up early tomorrow because then I could watch a little bit longer instead of going to bed in a few hours.  I also need to watch the latest season of You and  also start The last of Us. I didn't even realize a new season dropped but I'm very excited for it since I did play through the video game. But anyway...on to this post so I can get back to my show.

Baxter claims:

Aluminum-free and alcohol-free deodorant tackles odor as it detoxifies and conditions the skin. The clear solid gel formula includes tea tree and witch hazel extracts to tone and disinfect, taking care of odor-causing bacteria.

  • Perfect for sensitive skin
  • Absorbs quickly
  • Won't stain or discolor clothes
  • Paraben-free
  • 2015 GQ Grooming Award Winner for Best Deodorant
  • 2016 AskMen.com Grooming Award Winner
  • 2020 Gear Patrol Editor's Choice for Best Smelling Deodorant

So this is definitely men's deodorant. I think I realized it when I bought it and bought anyway. It comes in a small size and then a regular size. I do like that it comes in a smaller size because it's a great way to give it a go and see if it actually works. And if it does work, it would be great for travel.

So it is very tiny. Size is 1.2 ounces and the listed price is $12. The full size is $22. In comparison to other deodorants for the amount you get...it's very expensive. I also didn't realize the size would be so small when I bought it.

But that's OK. It doesn't really work that well. If I am just sitting around and doing nothing all day it's fine. It works better than more "Natural" deodorants. If I work out...it does OK but definitely needs a re-application after. And I don't trust it in the hot weather or when I am stressed. I definitely don't trust it overnight.

Still it does work a lot better than most other natural deodorants.

The scent is nice. Just a generic and vaguely masculine scent. I don't smell it after I put it on.

Packaging is nice. It comes in that thicker plastic packaging that indicates a pricier product.

Ingredients are ok. It has a lot of natural ingredients that seem to serve more as skincare.

From what I can tell there are a lot of reviews that say this changed not too long ago and was better before reformulation. My container definitely has a different ingredient list than what the site lists. There are so many more natural extracts in the other one.

Ingredients:

PROPYLENE GLYCOL, WATER (AQUA), SODIUM STEARATE, GLYCERIN (PLANT DERIVED), PPG-3 Myistyl Ether,  Sorbitan Stearate, FRAGRANCE (PARFUM), Propanediol, Linalool, Stearic Acid, Limonene,  Witch Hazel, Seabuckthorn Fruit Extract, Citronellol, Geraniol, Eugenol, Phenoxyethanol, Coumarin, Hydrozycitronellol, Citral, Punica Granatum, BHT

Overall, it didn't live up to the expectations the price set.

Sol De Janeiro Rio Deo Review

I am still fighting the Jet Lag fight. As soon as I got off of work yesterday I basically went to sleep, only to wake up at around 1 am and be up for hours and hours. I did finally get back to sleep... just so I could wake up tired. I am beyond tired but I'm going to try to stay up at least two more hours.

Sol De Janiero claims:

Aptly named after the 'Sun of January' (which refers to when the Brazilian sun hits its highest point), Sol de Janeiro is here to serve up summer feelings all year round. Steeped in cruelty-free formulas powered by the Amazon's freshest ingredients, these sunshine-scented must-haves instantly transport you to the sandy shores of Copacabana and beyond. Here to eliminate unwanted odours, the Rio Deo Deodorant Cheirosa 62 (57g), leaves you feeling comfortable and gently scented.

Feel refreshed and revitalised with Rio Deo Deodorant Cheirosa 62 (57g) from Sol de Janeiro.

Enriched with tapioca starch to absorb excess moisture, this lightweight roll-on is also infused with papaya enzyme to help fight ingrown hairs. Elsewhere in the formula, bacuri butter and mango seed butter protect, moisturise and soothe underarms, while evening out skin tone. Boasting notes of pistachio, almond, sandalwood and more, this antiperspirant is an absolute self care essential if you want to feel (and smell) ultra-fresh. Oh, and it's also refillable...

About two years ago I reviewed the body butter....it was just so hyped up everywhere that I had to see if it was worth it. And it wasn't.

I didn't really like the scent in the body butter- it reminded me of something from Victorias Secret and just generally smelled like a cheap scent. I couldn't find anything to really justify the price.

But I still bought the deodorant. And I have to say I do like the scent as a deodorant better. It's mostly a sweet vanilla sent with something else going on. I'm not sure why it smells better to me intros form but it does. It still kinda smells like something you would get from Victoria's Secret or Bath and Body Works though and I still don't think it's worth that price..

The packaging is nice. And refillable. Although the refills don't seem that much better priced than the full packaging with product inside. I definitely think we should go the way of more refillable packaging to reduce plastic usage. I'm not sure how the refills work but I might keep the packaging just in case I decide to try the other scents.

The only problem it doesn't work. Or it works but only for a short time and I have to re-apply. I also am not really a fan of how it goes on. It seems to go on so thickly. Like I am just rubbing gobs and gobs on with a simple swipe.

I haven't noticed anything like rashes and it does have nice "skincare ingredients". I think this might focus more on the skincare care aspects than actual deoderizing.

Ingredients:

Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Magnesium Hydroxide, Manihot Esculenta (Arrowroot) Powder, Stearyl Alcohol, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice), Bran Wax, Fragrance/Parfum, Tapioca Starch, Triethyl Citrate, Behenyl Alcohol, Polyglyceryl-3 Stearate, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Platonia Insignis Seed Butter, Lactobacillus/Papaya Fruit Ferment Filtrate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Seed Oil, Tocopherol.

Overall, I wouldn't buy this again. It just doesn't work that well for the price. But I do like the scent, I like that it's refillable, they just need to go back to the drawing board.
