Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Perfumed Soap Review

This is probably one the worst "luxury" soaps I have ever used. Which is shocking given the brand- and the price. Full price it will run you $37.00. 

So let's dive right into it.

Chanel claims: 

Delicately scented with the fresh, ambery notes of the COCO MADEMOISELLE fragrance, this soap for hands and body transforms into a creamy lather upon contact with water. The formula is enriched with cranberry seed oil, leaving skin soft and supple.

The prices on Chanel soaps have really sky rocketed over the past few years and I can tell you this is not worth it. I would not even pay $2.00 for this soap.

Packaging is basic. A box with the soap wrapped in plastic. It travelled well and the soap looked immaculate when I got it- but given the price- it is underwhelming. I think if I had ordered it directly from Chanel the packaging and samples can help digest the price- but I wanted to use Nordstrom bucks so I cashed in my $10.00 to lower the price on this. I wish I hadn't done that.

It's a square shape and I have to say I prefer the shape of the No.5 soap over this. It's nice but that one is nicer and much bigger.

The part about this that I cannot stand is the scent. It's horrible. It has an underlying pleasant fruity pear/floral scent. But what you smell most is something that smells like Nair. It smells so bad. I was shocked at how bad it was. Very unexpected. I thought maybe it was just the top layers but that horrible scent goes all the way down the last sliver. So I over lathered to try and use it up quickly. It took a lot of will power to not just toss it in the trash. 

Another thing- it makes my skin look awful. It feels like a very moisturizing soap as it's going on but it leaves a layer of white ash over my skin no matter how much I rinses. Some soaps do that- but this is the last soap I would have ever expected that from. Usually it's been cheaper soaps.

I don't know if I got a bad bar- but at this price there should be no "bad" bars. Quality control should be top notch. Or maybe that's just how the soap is supposed to be.

Hated it. Would never buy it again. If you are in the mood to treat yourself with a soap from the brand-  No.5 is a much better option. Or I would even highly recommend Dior J'adore as a more modern option that would be more comparable. Anything but this.

Oars + Alps Oars Blue Charcoal Bar Soap Review

This is a men's brand....with an interesting creation story. The origin of most men's brands are from men creators- this one is different in that the creator is a wife who was tired of her husband stealing her products so she decided to create a whole line for him. I get it, products are expensive and I myself would definitely rather not share my good stuff.

I love soap- and I guess that has now extended to trying out Men's bars. I find most men soaps doesn't smell super masculine and some of them have really nice shower scents. Like this one.

It's hard to tell what the scent is supposed to be and I kinda bought this without reading the description. Later on when I finally read the packaging- it is supposed to be California Coast. Which I get it. It's smells very good and I really enjoyed the scent- just wish it was stronger. It smells like a really beautifully scented breeze in the early morning hours. Very fresh smelling. It doesn't smell particularly masculine like I was expecting.  This is a bar anyone can use. I like it so much I kinda wanna buy the shower gel.

I have noticed so many bars that have come out lately also double as exfoliators. Which I really dig. Eliminates the need for a separate scrub and it also lathers. Per the label this is scrubby but gentle enough for everyday. It says every other day on the site though. I went through this bar pretty quickly because I loved how the scrubby felt against my skin. A bit scratchy but not too bad and just felt nice. Apparently the scrubbiness is provided by Volcanic Ash- and pumice. Cool.

It lathers well, rinses clean, and cleans very well. Maybe it's the blue charcoal.Charcoal is said to be deep cleansing, detoxifying, and exfoliating. It's an ingredients I love to see. I don't think it's particularly drying but it can make my skin look dry so I like to lotion up visible skin after.

Packaging is nice. It's plastic free so you can just throw the paper in the recycle. Earth friendly. 

It also  has blue green algae and witch hazel.

Overall, I liked it much more than I expected and I'm excited to try the other two bars from the brand I have tucked in the stash. Hopefully they are just as good!

Dove has really been collaborating and branching out to make scents/soaps that I never thought they would. Earlier this year they had a Bridgerton collection that I would have loved to try but it was only available at Target and I think we are still boycotting Target.

I would have never thought that Dove of all brands would come out with an anti-bacterial soap. They are largely needed and mostly unhealthy. All you really need is regular soap which is antibacterial enough. But I figured I would try it anyway.

I believe the main ingredient in antibacterial soaps years ago was triclosan but that has since been banned so I guess they have a new active ingredient in anti-bacterial soaps. As far as I can see it is generally considered safe in small amounts..but who really knows. We never really find out until years later if something is bad for us. But that may not be the case with this.

When I first opened it, I thought the scent was really good but as I've used it...it's not that great. It kinda smells like a clean, newly grouted bathroom. A few times it's also smelled a bit odd- it almost reminded me of the underlying scent of the Nudy Rudy bars. 

It's a beauty bar and not a soap. I don't find the lathering and bubbles to be as good as other bars of soap. It's OK. As far as feeling clean- I find some of the Dove bars are pretty nice but I didn't think this was that great. I didn't really feel as clean as with some other bar soaps. 

Packaging is fine- I always prefer a bar soap to save the world a little bit of plastic. It comes in a box wrapped in plastic- still a lot less plastic than if you buy the liquid version though. 

I've noticed Dove bars are so much smaller than they used to be a couple years ago. So this bar is definitely on the smaller side but it is a very pretty color.

I don't notice a lot of reviews or talk about this bar- except a few that look like ads because they all talked about Ivory and the videos really seemed to follow a format.  

The ingredients are typical for Dove. A few years back they used to use animal tallow in the bars- these days they are animal tallow free. I think I prefer the old version- simply because they were cheaper- with the reformulation Dove has really jumped in price and I don't really find it to be worth it most of the time.

Overall there are other versions of the Dove bar that I think are better. Not something I would ever buy again.

Tony Moly K- Spa Exfoliating Glove Review

I'm dealing with a real case of Jet Lag. Since I've flown back I've had multiple days where I have been up for well over 36 hours. And I have not done one thing productive. I had a nice long vacation though, it was so long I was nervous about coming back to work- like I would just forget my whole job. One of the highlights of my trip- I finally flew in business class. It was on my bucket list...I got it at the last minute so it was definitely discounted. Not worth full price but certainly worth the price I paid. This was the first flight I got off the plane feeling refreshed. The lie flat seat on international flights was definitely worth it. Also the real dishes/silverware and slightly better food. At the end of the day it was still airplane food so you could definitely still tell it was just reheated but I still loved every second. The larger/screen, better headset. Hopefully that happens again on my next trip to/from the states. 

Anyway...back to blogging. Hopefully regularly. I was planning to review these gloves before I left but I took a lot of brain power sitting around thinking/planning to pack etc instead of actually getting it done. I packed last minute and I could tell.

Exfoliating gloves. It's been a minute since I've owned a pair. I had forgotten how much I like them. I haven't bought any in years- mainly because they are usually made of plastic and I try to watch the amount/types of plastic I am purchasing. These are different because they are not plastic- and they are 100% biodegradable. I don't know how long it take to biodegrade but at least it eventually will.

These definitely smell a bit off. They are made of viscose. I don't know if it's the process they go through but I didn't really like the smell of the gloves.

I do love how exfoliating they are- while still feeling quite gentle. It feels really nice to scrub down with them. 

They are  purple. And they look like mittens. They dry quickly and are easy to clean. They are also quite a bit thinner than most other gloves I have used before

The only other problem I had was that one of the gloves developed a hole in it the second day of use. I have still been able to keep using them with no issue. But I wasn't thrilled to see the hole.

Overall, I really like them and would consider buying them again if I can't find another biodegradable option. I also bought the Plum soap- which I should be reviewing soon.

Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin Soap Bar Review

I'm just watching  a breakdown of the latest House of Dragon episode- which I'm surprised Im actually watching because I'm finding this season boring and hard to pay attention to. I don't really care about any of the characters...I only care about the dragons. I don't find the "villains" of the show to be in a quarter as interesting as the Game of Throne characters. And I don't find Rhaenyra to be interesting at all...she wants to rule but really didn't take any time preparing or learning the proper way to rule. I did watch Knight of the Seven Kingdoms though- a few weeks ago and was shocked because I actually really enjoyed it. Much better than HOTD at least.

But let me stop blabbing and get this post done. 

Jo Malone claims:

I've tried a few Jo Malone scents at this point...I think seven. So I'm not new to them. Of all of them though- this is the one I wanted to try the most. I love Lime and Basil together.  So I assumed I would also love Lime, Basil, and Mandarin. Sounds like the ultimate summer scent. 

But I don't really like it. I guess I get the Basil. I also get the Mandarin. Idk about lime. Put them all together and you get a scent that I'm just not excited about. It has this odd note to it or underlying scent that reminds me of the Red Roses scent. Just a sharp note of something strange.

Other than that it lathers well, doesn't dry my skin, lingers a little, and rinses clean. 

Also it melts fast. I've noticed an insane price increase of the past year or two. I bought it on sale- good for me. Because really it is so overpriced for what it is.

Overall, this scent is not for me. I have one more Jo Malone soap in the stash and after I use that up I don't see myself buying any more soaps from them for quite awhile- especially since the remaining soaps are in scents I have already tried in other forms.

Beekman Sunshine Lemon Goat Milk Soap

 Finally- the last Beekman soap. Well, actually I have one more. But it's the pure one and I am only going to use it on my face so it doesn't count. I was excited for this lemon soap- especially with the weather. Lemon can be very refreshing.

Beekman claims: 

This ultra-hydrating, foamy bar soap is infused with goat milk prebiotic to deeply cleanse and moisturize skin, and enriched with a fresh burst of Meyer lemon, lime, rosemary, and jasmine to leave skin brightly fragranced. 

It's been a minute since I've had a lemon soap. But I have definitely tried more than my fair share. Jr Watkins has a lemon cream gel (not good), there was the long discontinued Sweet Lemon line from Body Shop that smelled pretty good but not strong enough. Then quite a few bar soaps- most not worth mentioning but my favorite being the Lemon Zest soap from Lush.

This is just going to do down as another forgettable lemon soap. Mostly because...where is the lemon? I only know it's lemon because they told me. Most of the time the scent barely registered for me. It didn't give what I always want from a lemon soap- sweet and zesty, punchy and supposed to smell just like fresh lemon. It can have other stuff there to round it out but should smell like lemon.

As for everything else- solid. It lather well, rinses clean, and isn't drying. And I don't think I've mentioned in the last few reviews for Beekman but I like the ingredients. Can't go wrong with a goat milk soap.

Overall, a very forgettable soap. And now I'll be taking at least a years break from Beekman. I've reviewed more than enough from the brand- found them overall forgettable and now I'm ready to shake it up. Next up, I have a Jo Malone soap I've been waiting to dig into .

Granado Flora Magnifica Bar Soap Review

Another hot day in the continuing heat wave. I want to play my dancing games- but at this point it's just too hot. I can't wait until we get some cooler weather because this isn't it. Why can't summer just be 72 degrees, all day everyday.  Only thing this weather is good for is writing a quick blog post or two. Meant to do this one yesterday actually but I was too busy catching up on House of the Dragon. I'm really hoping this season redeems the last because- it wasn't it. I did finally watch Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and really enjoying that which is probably the only reason I even ventured to start season three. 

I bought this one clearance so I think I paid $20 for it. Not a bad price considering you get the cutest glass tray and two bar soaps all packaged in the nicest box. Maybe I paid a little more. I don't remember now and it's too hot to look it up. 

Granado claims:

Flora Magnífica is a tribute to Brazilian biodiversity and celebrates the union between classic perfumery flowers and the bold notes of tropical leaves. Its fresh and green floral notes exudes a natural scent of rose petals, jasmine and magnolia, while woody notes and coconut flowers define the fragrance with smoothness and a feeling of comfort.

This is my last Granado soap in the stash and I think I might take a break from it for a little while to try and review some new brands. Even though I like the brand- it's time to shake it up. This whole year I have mainly been reviewing this and Beekman. I prefer this brand over that one for sure. 

Anyway this is a floral scents. I don't think I'm big on floral scents in the shower unless they have an interesting twist to them. This more of a tropical floral. It's definitely unique- I can't think of a similar scented soap I have tried in the past. It's a very pleasant scent that is nice to experience once but I don't think I would be tempted to purchase it again. 

Other than that, it's a quality soap. This scent is not too strong but makes it's presence known. It's scented down to the last little sliver. It lathers well. Cleans OK And it's not too drying.

Overall, it's a nice soap. Wouldn't repurchase but I am really interested in continuing to try more of the brand sometime in the future. I do have a second bar that I might give away or just end up using as a hand soap or something...not sure yet.

Beekman Lilac Dream Goat Milk Soap Review

 I don't think I've ever had any Lilac scented bath and body care. It's not a common scent. I've never smelled fresh lilacs but I do really want smell them. I guess for now- this soap is as close I'll get to it.

I'm starting to get a little tired of the brand. It feels like that's all I've been using this year. Luckily after this soap is gone- I only have one more in the stash and then I am taking a long, long break. Although I am tempted to just grab the rest of the soaps just to say I've tried them all.

From what I have read this scent is retiring. And good riddance. Well actually, it's not that bad. I just didn't like it much.

I can't compare the scent to actual lilacs since I've never smelled them- but I'm sure it probably does not smell anything lilacs as Beekman scents usually don't smell realistic. I'm not sure how to describe it except it reminds me of a soap I recently used and reviewed from Granado.  I really didn't like that scent and this smells similar enough that I don't like this either. Luckily it's not strong. It's barely present.

Not impressed with the scent. But the soap itself is nice. My skin is soft, it lathers well, rinses clean and isn't too drying.

I just couldn't get into the scent so this is a pass for me. Last one in my  stash  is the Lemon scented soap- I'm looking forward to being done and finally moving on to trying other brands. 

Granado Oasis Bar Soap Review

I was originally planning on doing a candle review but I used the last of this soap up today and so I want to make sure I review it while the scent it still fresh in my mind. This is the last of the gift set I bought on sale around the holidays. It's a Brazilian brand that has been around a long time. I think the brand is most known for their perfumes- I don't think I'll get my hands on those anytime soon but I do plan on eventually picking more of the soaps up.

I bought a set of three around the holidays on clearance. And then after I bought this one- I found another set on clearance that I also managed to snag. I already used up the other two in the set- first one I really loved and the second was not for me. 

 Mine came packaged in a cute metal ornament. I'll definitely be keeping and repurposing the packaging. This one had a cute little seahorse on it. 

Other than that it comes wrapped in paper- which is easily recyclable.

The scent is nice. I would describe it as a floral/marine scent. It's unique but also reminds me another soap  used a few years ago. It's been awhile since I have smelled that scent so I'm not sure if my memory is accurate but I would say it most reminds me of Bvlgari Au the Blanc soap. It's a very nice scent- it reminds me a soap you might use in a nicer hotel. I'm not good at describing scents- I just know I like it and enjoyed it very much. It also lingered on my skin. Also one thing- it's definitely a perfumed scent but not overly so. 

As for everything else- lathered very well, softened my skin, and, rinsed clean. My skin did feel a teensy bit dry so I did make sure to use lotion afterwards.

Overall, it was a nice soap. I don't think it's a must try or something I would really go out of my way to buy again- but I did really enjoy using it everyday. I have one more soap from the brand in my collection and then I'll switch it up and try to get some different brands to review -but I can see myself buying/trying some of the other bars eventually.

Beekman 1802 Honeyed Grapefruit Goat Milk Soap Review

 A couple weeks ago I was complaining that it was too cold- so not it's too hot. Candle season is definitely over. And I had to run and get a new air conditioner. Although I really wish I had central air. The heat is unbearable without central air. Anyway, that probably means more showers- so more soap reviews.  

Beekman claims:

Goat milk, grapefruit, and exfoliating guava leaf combine to create a soap that's soft in texture and brightly scented, giving your skin a natural glow. 

Creamy goat milk and botanicals deeply nourish and moisturize skin, giving you long-lasting freshness with a velvety foaming lather that cleanses without stripping skin’s moisture. 

Benefits:

• Triple-milled to last even longer, extending all of the benefits of nourishing goat milk down to the very last lather
• Goat Milk boosts skin health with the same pH as human skin, and it’s rich in lactic acid, vitamins, and minerals to help renew and strengthen skin

I've used a ton of grapefruit scented soaps/ shower gels. And with this weather it sure does sound like a very refreshing scent option. Except this wasn't as refreshing as I had hoped.

It's a nice scent. I guess. I don't really love it. More like I tolerate it but it isn't bad. It's not exactly what I imagine when I think of honeyed grapefruit. I was expecting a zest and punchy scent with honey notes. I don't know what to describe this as. But it smells like something I would love in a cleaning spray. I just didn't think it was all that special as a shower scent. It's pleasant. But probably forgettable. 

My skin is soft though. And it seems to clean pretty well. Lather well. Rinses clean. Beekman makes pretty good soaps. It's just the scent can be hit or miss for me.

Overall, not for me. It's not bad...just nothing special. Usually this might be where I recommend something similar that's a little better but most grapefruit scented soaps/shower gels are just one of those things that is nice to try once and move on. None of them are really standing out to me. I think if you want a true grapefruit scent maybe the bar soap from Fresh or The Body Shops shower gel.

Granado Jardim Real Bar Soap Review

Take me  to Brazil. I probably won't be getting to Brazil anytime in the next couple of years- so I guess trying their soaps is the next best thing? I bought this on sale a couple of months ago in a three pack. So this makes the 2nd one of the pack. I also bought another gift set that has two soaps in it...I just want to test them all. 

Granado claims:

Inspired by the lush gardens of 19th-century Rio de Janeiro, Jardim Real combines the citrus and effervescent freshness of bergamot and mandarin with the romantic delicacy of flowers, highlighting orange blossom as the star of the creation.

The creamy bar soap, made with 76% natural-origin ingredients, contains a plant-based formula enriched with vegetable glycerin, murumuru butter, and coconut oil, which help to hydrate and soften the skin while leaving it delicately scented.

First up, let's talk packaging. I don't think this is the normal packaging but it comes in a cute tin ornament that I will definitely be keeping to reuse for something. Not sure what. This one has a cute little fish on it. Then it comes wrapped pretty nicely. I like it. And bonus the packaging is super earth friendly.

The soap itself is nice. Looks like high end soap. Has the name embossed in it. 

It lathers well, rinses clean, doesn't dry my skin. In fact, my skin feels pretty soft.

But the scent. Not a fan. 

It had potential. It has some lovely floral notes, I can't pick them out but they aer definitely the scent of flowers. But not the same old, same old flowers. The floral notes in this are different. According to the scent notes it's supposed to be orange blossom, mandarin, and bergamot. I can definitely tell that there is citrus but I wouldn't have picked those. The floral notes are lovely and unique. But there is something off about it. It's a very loud floral. Not headache inducing but it has some punch to it. And for some reason the scent reminds me of port-a-potties. I'm not sure what notes is giving that association...and I tried to get past it...or overlook it. Or get used to it. But I really didn't enjoy whatever note that was.

I did really like the first soap I tried from the brand..and I'm still excited to try more. But this one did not do it for me. 

 

Beekman 1802 Pistachio and Dark Cherry Goat Milk Soap Review

 There aren't enough Pistachio scented things- I wish there were more candles, soaps, lotions etc in a Pistachio scent. Although I don't know if the scent can really be captured....but for some reason it appeals to me anyway. Which is pretty much why I bought this scent- this one was the most intriguing to me of all the soaps in the Beekman lineup. 

Beekman claims:

Make every bath or shower feel like dessert with this skin-loving bar soap!

Scented with notes of pistachio nougat, dark cherry, and sugar glacé—it's like a nutty delight with a cherry on top!

Our rich, creamy goat milk lather nourishes and hydrates the skin while cleansing, leaving it soft, smooth, and smelling absolutely delicious.

Top: Toasted Almond, Sugar Glacé

Middle: Caramel Drizzles, Dark Cherry, Pistachio Nougat​

I haven't had much luck with the Beekman soaps I've tried so far. Of the ones I have tried the only other one I have liked was the Orange Blossom Honey. I think this is the 2nd best of the ones I have tried so far.

I watched the infomercial on this scent and they did mention Tom Ford Lost Cherry scent being the inspiration. I haven't smelled that scent so I don't know. This doesn't really smell particularly like any cherry or almond scents I know of. Sometimes it smells a bit like Hall's Cherry cough drops. And a bit like a Cherry Almond scent.With a light fruitiness to it. It's not a bad scent at all, enjoyable. But if they discontinued it tomorrow I don't think I would care much. It's one of those scents that was nice to try once, I will enjoy the bar until it's gone and then move onto something else.

The bar lasted quite awhile too...I got mine in the large 9 oz size. Which will last quite awhile. Probably would have lasted me a lot longer but I tend to use excessive amounts of soap. I love a lathery, bubbly shower with as many suds as I can get.

And it does lather pretty well, rinses clean, and doesn't dry my skin much. My skin is definitely soft and I do think the goat milk makes a difference to that.

Overall, it's one of the better scents from the brand.
