Senna Cosmetics Ultra Last Eyeliner in Tangara Review

I wasn't going to review this- but I think this is my favorite colored liner of all time. So even though it's discontinued, I'll review it anyway and hope they bring it back. I had another one in a purple shade that I absolutely hated. Not sure how two liners from the same line can be so different- but they are.

My favorite thing about this liner is definitely the color. It's the prettiest shade of teal. It's vibrant...just everything you would want from a colored liner. 

It goes on smoothly, doesn't irritate my eyes. I've literally had it forever and it hasn't dried out.

It also lasts. It's always there at the end of the day- even though the waterline can be a tough place to keep liner- especially for my eyes. No issues with this. I don't wear it on the lid though, I only like it in the water/tight line. 

I love it. 

The only thing is you should be careful with how much you roll it up and how hard you  press. I did break it once. But it was probably my fault. 

It's not a microliner- so it won't have a sharp tip or make a thin line. But that's OK with me. I haven't met a micro-liner I love yet. 

I mostly love to pair it with bright and green fun shades on the lid. 

 I wish they still made the fun colors. It might be worth trying in the black/brown shades if I ever place another order with Senna.

NYX Vivid Rich Emerald Empire Mechanical Liner Review

 I am taking a break before I post my not so favorite products of 2025. I usually do both posts at the same time- but I have not even really started. I actually don't think I tried much I disliked enough to make that list...but I guess we shall see tomorrow when I plan on actually doing the post.

In the meantime, I keep trying out NYX liners. It's just a good way to test out different colors without really splurging on something...better?

This is my third liner in theVivid Rich line and I am just now noticing they are supposed to be named for gems. I've already used Sapphire Bling and Amber Stunner. I can say these really do not remind me of any gemstones. This one is named for Emeralds...and no. It doesn't look like any emerald I have ever seen. If I had to name it I would name it -Related to Army Green. 

This is an interesting color though and I thought it would be fun to play with. I was wrong. I think it's too light and not saturated enough. At least on my skin tone.  The color is there but it doesn't look vivd or vibrant. It's just- blah. Especially as a top liner. It does look  better on the waterline but I just don't think it's flattering on me. Not even with a green look. I think it might irritate my eyes too- I'm just now reading the instructions and it doesn't seem like they recommend it for the waterline.

You get a decent amount compared to other liners. It just lasts and lasts- but really I think that's because I'm not a big fan of the color so I barely reach for it.

It is smooth, goes on easily. Wear is OK. I'm not impressed with the wear but I haven't done a true wear test. I think the packaging is average. The actual pencil itself is pretty blunt and you aren't going to get a dainty line or much control. I always get a thick line with a not so sharp point. I don't think it's a skill problem..I think it's the liner. But since the color is so...meh... I don't like to wear it as a top liner anyway. 

Overall, I am unimpressed and underwhelmed. Probably won't be seeking out this color liner again and even though I haven't had any luck with this line, I may still try another color. Just to see if the whole line sucks. Why not?

One more post before I get ready to go. I just realized Halloween is around the corner and although I don't decorate for Halloween, I want to make sure I have a Halloween candle to set the scene to watch a few horror movies. I really hope I can find it.

Anyway, let's talk liner.

I tend to keep liners for years and years and years. But I'm trying to incorporate more liner into my eye makeup. I want to cycle through more..so I can experiment with more colors since I have a max amount of liners I can keep in the collection (three). 

One of my favorite liner shades is a navy blue. It goes with so many shadow colors- pinks, purples, cranberry shades, blues, bronzes. I think it's the most versatile color outside of a brown or black. 

That being said- this is not my favorite. I had a navy blue from Makeup Forever that I think set the standard for navy and while this is a decent navy, I don't love it. I think I need more blue and this is a little too deep for my preferences.  Also, I just don't think it lives up to the name - vivid rich.

It does glide on well. But I don't like the tip, I don't think you can get a range of lines- I always just end up with a chunky line. The wear is OK. There are things you can do to make it wear longer- set with powder, if you are using in the waterline you can dry the waterline off etc. 

In the last few years I have had some sensitivities to blue/purple shades. Powder blue shadows if they get in contact with my eye tend to irritate me. So when I use this I have to be careful to keep it away from my waterline or else my eyes will be angry for at least an entire day after.

Overall, I don't love it. It's fine, but I wouldn't buy it again. I am still going to try other liners in this line- hopefully in the more fun colors.

 I just finished a batch of orange marmalade. Never made it before and it was pretty easy. I'm waiting to see if it sets up like it's supposed to...but I don't see myself making it again anytime in the near future. In the meantime, let's talk liner.

Not too long ago I project panned all my liners...so I needed to replace what I used up. I have three liners in my collection now. I want to use this one up and replace it..it's almost gone so I figured I had better review it before it's completely used up.

I don't like it. I had a feeling I wouldn't like it because gold type liners just don't do it for me. They are always streaky and chunky. As this one is. Even when they are high end. I had one that was much lighter from Make Up Forever and it had the same issues.

Also..it loves to break. I've probably used most of it up by accidentally breaking pieces off. Whoops. 

I've only really come up with few ways to wear it. Sometimes it's ok with a darker liner more towards the inner corner. And I have liked with a more golden multi-chrome on the lid and this in the waterline.

But still I don't love this pencil and want to use it up to get it out the collection. I have a navy liner in the same line that I like a lot better. It's not amazing...but it's better than this one. I've been using it a lot so will probably review it later at some point.

Overall, it's a skip for me.

Danessa Myricks Infinite Chrome Micropencil In Charoite Review

I really thought this pencil was named Charlotte. I just now found out it's Charoite. And apparently a Charoite is a rare purple crystal. Learned something new....

Danessa Myricks claims:

A color-shifting, multi-chrome, waterproof micro-pencil that creates smoldering and graphic lines.

Most of the Danessa products I have I love. But if I'm being honest- I didn't love this. 

I don't know if it's just this color but I don't really see the multi-chrome. And I was hoping this purple would look great on me- but I never have luck with deep purple (liners or shadow) and the way it shows up. It just doesn't stick out on my skin tone. I think I need a purple with a different undertone. 

When you put it on, it just looks purple and not as exciting as I was hoping. It does wear well though in the waterline. Especially if you set it. In order to add more fun, I like to take a few different shades of blue and pop it over the purple but leave the purple peeking through in a random spots.[

It is a mirco-pencil. So it's thin....and you have to be careful or else you can break it off. I ended up breaking it the very first time I used it. I can see why you would want a micropencil for something like your brows but I can't see the point in a fun coloured liner. I tend to only use it in the waterline because I don't like the way it goes on as a lid liner and it's easy to break that way.

One complaint I have is that it barely has product. I feel like I have only used it a handful of times and I'm running out. I only have a very more uses before I throw it in the recycle bin.

And last up- the packaging feels cheap. It's rickety and just doesn't feel like a liner that costs $22. 

So overall, I was definitely disappointed. I might still try another color just to see if any of the other shades are better. But not anytime soon.

Danessa Myricks Haul

 I've been having a super amazing weekend, good food- lots of laughs...just everything!  Now the weather is super ugly so I am just hanging around the house. Will probably start Sunday Dinner in just a little bit. But before I get on with all the Sunday things I wanted to share what I bought in my most recent Danessa Haul.

I couldn't resist her Holiday sale and that email for 35% off just couldn't be ignored. Figured I would finally try out the Chrome Flakes that I have been wanting to get my hands on for awhile. And while I was added I wanted to try out her Twin Flames and the multi-chrome liner. I had the hardest time picking out colors but ultimately I am obsessed with chartreuse so I went for anything that had Chartreuse in the description. 

Starting with my favorite of the bunch- Chrome Flakes. I bought the color lightning bolt. These are pricey but they are so pretty and unique. I haven't seen anything like this anywhere else so I would say they are worth it. They definitely give a very unique look- probably more suitable for editorial makeup. But I love them and I am very extra with eye make lately so I will probably wear them casually. And for everyday. I wore mine over a teal shade and LOVE it. But I'm sure it would be gorgeous over purples, pinks, greens etc. They mostly appear gold but you can definitely see blue, pink, and green shifts. It's the most shifty and more complex than I think you could get from a powder. 

Then I bought one of the Twin Flames. The color I bought was Passion. I wanted a bright pink to lime green shifting color and I was expecting this to be that. Mostly I get a pink glitter look. I'm not sure I needed this since I did buy the most recent light work palette and I think I like those powders over this. But I do need to play with it more. I coudn't get it to photograph nicely....

Last up, I bought a multi-chrome pencil- shade Charlotte. I think this might be the most dissapointing of my haul. I don't see much multi-chrome effect to it. It just feels like a deep purple. The pencil is very thin...not as creamy and smooth as I was expecting. And the tip already broke off. But I will reserve judgment until I have used it more as there may just be a learning curve. I would probably still test out other colors later down the line though....

And that's all! I'm off to play in some makeup and then probably get started on dinner....

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink Review

 Everyday is a struggle to do a post. I just want to settle in and continue watching Breaking Bad. I'm hooked. But I have wanted to get this review up for awhile so here we are. I think the main struggle has been not wanting to wear liner looks because I have been so into applying glittery, shimmery, and colorful looks and I don't always like to match that with a lot of liner. I don't like looking overdone and on my face that combination does look overdone.

  I had wanted a gel liner again for a little while now- but I really wanted to use up some of the liners that had been in my collection forever. Now I'm down to one colorful liner- which I do want to use up- and this. And I have a billion shadows I can use as liner so I am good now. 

Years and years back I tried MAC Blacktrack but I didn't like it much because it wasn't black enough. But everywhere i have read it says that the MAC liner is darker. From what I can remember that's not true. I think this could get darker but I am happy with how black its looks. It doesn't go on looking as black as it seems to dry down. But I do really like the color and it's black enough for me. 

I think it goes on smoothly with no tugging or skipping or patchiness. Very user friendly. I've been testing it with the different brushes in my collection and the brush I like it with most was the MAC 209. It is perfect for a more graphic look and great if you have larger eyes. I used to be all about an angled brush but I think the 209  loads up the product better and gives you more control. 

As for wear time- I feel like it lasts all day. I always use primer though. And I don't usually rub at my eyes. The only time it ever smudged on me was when I fell asleep with it on, and I was sleeping HARD. But...I don't expect my makeup to last through a nap...so it's fine.

I find it's easier to use than a liquid liner...not as easy as a powder shadow. But with shadow you get fall out which can be annoying- no fallout with this!

Overall, I like it. Definitely my favorite gel liner I have tried- although I have only used two. I think this will last me quite awhile....but when it's done I might go ahead and pick up the very popular Maybelline gel liner to see how it stacks up. 

NYX Professional Makeup Faux Whites Baby Powder Inner Eye Brightener Review

I've been a little absent from blogging...I went from obsessing about the Titanic to obsessing on hotel research. We have a trip coming up and I really, really love hotels. Especially when traveling alone, where I can just have a whole room to myself to just chill/relax in. IDK why it just seems extra special but it does. This is not that type of trip but I still do really like looking at rooms and reading reviews. I just wish I could learn how to get really nice places for less money. 

But anyway...back to blogging. I've been dwindling down my eyeliner collection and this is one that I am ready to get rid of. It was a gift from my sister after I said I wanted to recreate the Twiggy eyeshadow look.

I still have quite a bit of old NYX shadows in the collection that I am slowly working my way through. It's not a brand I tend to gravitate to anymore because it's so pricey and I think it's very overpriced for what they are (drugstore brand).  I am interested in trying more of their eyeliners though. 

I tend to not be a fan of white liners. I went through some of N.Y.C and Wet N Wild  ones when I was trying out the white eyeliner trend that is supposed to make your eyes look bigger but it just really makes your eyes look strange. It's honestly a look I hate. 

This liner though is creamy and applies easily with no tugging. It goes on so easily that if you wanted white eyelashes, you could literally brush this on them (I did it once for something different).  But it's lumpy and it doesn't wear very well. It dissapears out the waterline if you use it there for the brightening effect.  You can use it as a base for lighter shadows too but those tend to apply very unevenly too since this doesn't blend out evenly.

I wonder if it's been discontinued as I can't find it on the site anymore?

Anyway, I'm really grateful to my sister for being so thoughtful and shopping the whole look for me, but white pencil liners just don't work for me. I do want to try a liquid one though, I think I could get really creative with it and it would be a great base for turning shadows into liquid liner. Maybe once I find a way to use this up...

Muse Beauty Pro Haul

 I've been a little naughty. I was up way too late and feeling a little stressed a few weeks ago...and I ended up shopping. Viseart had been on my mind and I was trying to learn everything about the brand when I happened upon a sale. Every August I think Muse does a big sale with deals. And I left the site successfully a few times...until I didn't. I really love that blue shade in the Dark Mattes, and I kept thinking how all the other blues in my collection were so disappointing. And before you know I had to have the editorial brights. And then I needed another one for the deal and I thought the Neutral Mattes 2 looked good. 

Also the brushes and liner deal didn't look too bad. I've already put the liner on and I actually like it so far. I thought I would hate the shimmery side because I had a really bad liner I thought was similar from Make Up Forever but this is so much better. It's very soft, reflective, and metallic in the inner corners without looking very icy. But..I've only used it once...so the jury is still out.

I have one other sable brush...and I like it. But it doesn't suit my current foundation very well. I've heard great things about sable...so I've been wanting one for eyes/lips. I did order one from another company but for some reason it never got shipped out. So I was happy to get this in the bundle. The synthetic brush I thought I could take or leave but from first impressions, it's not so bad. I need to try it on my eyes..but it builds pigments nicely on my hand at least. 

That's the Bright Editorials palette. I love all these shades...even the white. You can make the pigment stronger or make a pastel by mixing a little or a lot into the other shades. Viseart eyeshadows mix really well and are great for creating your own shade. I had a white from Smashbox..but it didn't mix and blend like this one can. I think I'm in love with this palette!

And this one is the Milieu. Now that I'm seeing it in person it really reminds me of Anastasia Modern Ren. It has a lot of peachy light shades that don't just show up white on me like many others. I think I will get along very well with this one and I am especially excited to jump in there with the blue.

Now if only I had more than just the two eyelids, so many shadows but not enough eyes....

MAC Kohl Power Feline Eye Pencil Review

I was so happy to see that in my feed today.

MAC claims:

I finally have a favorite eye pencil. Although I really haven't tried that many....But that's beside the point. I bought this pencil a couple years ago and even though I lost the cap-the pencil is still creamy, ultra black and easy to work with.

I was most excited for the blacknessof it. A lot of black pencils just aren't black enough and look grey or blend out lighter. Not this. It is a black black. A nice vivid black, exactly the shade I wanted in my eyeliner.

Also..it's super smudge-y. You can just pencil it on and then smudge it out into a line. I've gotten some of the best lines ever using this pencil. 

In particular I found Charlotte Tilbury's feline flick extremely easy to do. 

It's easy to use in the waterline. Although it doesn't last all day and transfers when you blink to the top. But I actually like that. You can set it in place with powder shadow if you want it to last all day. Most days I don't bother!

Because it stays smudge-y it would probably be great for a grunge look.

It is a pencil...that you sharpen. To be honest, I prefer an actual pencil over plastic container liners. Also, it's probably a little better on the earth as far as recycling is concerned!

I'm so glad I tried this one out because years ago I bought the Fluidline Gel and wasn't impressed at all with that- the black shade was disappointing.  This is definitely my favorite pencil I have tried so far and would highly recommend it!

Physician's Formula Eye Booster Eyeliner+Serum Review

Generally I stay away from Physician's Formula. They are one of the brands that like to pretend Women of Color do not exist, and so I usually do them the same courtesy. Their deepest shade is usually "beige". I wouldn't have picked this out (my Uncle actually got it for me for Christmas!) but I think I remember a friend wearing it and really liking it on her. Also I saw a couple tutorials using it for very graphic looks and it looked pretty awesome, so I had to try for myself.

I won't beat around the bush. I love this eyeliner. I've had MAC Fluidline, Revlon Colorstay, and various eyeliners and this is definitely my favorite.

It's very easy to use. It's quick. It's super black. And it lasts all day. You can do thin or thick lines.  And it hasn't dried up yet. I opened it over a year ago (didn't really use it) and it's working just fine now. 

It's supposed to grow lashes, but honestly I don't care about that. If you want longer thicker, lashes, use castor oil! Plus I'm not really sure which of the ingredients is supposed to grow lashes, but whatever!

It's your usual packaging. Well, it is the "nice" plastic. And I love the little felt tip it has. It feels like quality packaging. No complaints there.

It's a bit more on the spendy side at almost $11. Especially for being a drugstore brand after all. But I'm going to say it's worth it. Plus if you keep an eye out you can usually get it on sale.

Overall, I still don't like the company. Love the eyeliner. Probably won't repurchase though and will look for something similar from another company.

And here I was thinking they were one of the good brands! I've never placed an order with them, and thinking now I never will. I agree with this article wholeheartedly! 

Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Eyeliner in 3L Review (Iridescent Navy)

Am I the only one that still plays the original Dance Central game? I'm still trying to get gold stars on all of the songs and I now have gold stars on all of the songs at the medium level! It took me long enough. I got stuck on the Just Dance/Lady Gaga song awhile ago and because I couldn't get gold stars I just put the game away. I took it out yesterday, did the song three times...and GOLD stars. It's good exercise anyway!

But anyway, on to the review. I got these awhile ago when Sephora sent the wrong thing in my order. And they let me keep it. Which is great, because I have never in my life payed $19.00 for a liner and don't really want to. But if I were going to...Is it worth $19?

I didn't have a lot of hope for this liner. I didn't think it would show up noticeably blue on me. A lot of blues just look...black. But I used it anyway one day when I wanted blue in my waterline and a fuschia-purple lip. I wore it to work and my friend noticed it was blue! And that's when I started liking it. Well at least the color.

I mostly use pencil liners in my waterline and this doesn't last all day in my waterline. It's only in my waterline a couple of hours before it starts to fade in places. At the very end of the day, it's still there but it's rubbed off in places and not as vibrant as when I first put it on. 

When I use it on my top lid or any other way it stays all day. Exactly as I put it on. It smudges pretty well, which is how I like to wear it on my top lid. It's pretty smooth and glides on too! It makes an excellent blue base if you have a lackluster blue shadow you are trying to make pop. 

I really do love the color. Every now and again I use it to tight line and it makes the whites in my eyes appear brighter and whiter. Plus navy is just flattering to brown eyes in general. 

I don't have issues with sharpening it. You know how some pencils get chewed up when you sharpen? Every time I sharpen it looks like the same point it had when I received it. It says it's waterproof..and sometimes waterproof products can be a little difficult to remove. But I've never had that problem with that. I use Coconut oil to remove my makeup though.

Overall, I really do like it. Maybe not $19 like it, but when I run out I will definitely see if I can find a cheaper option. I wouldn't have normally went for a blue liner but now it's a must have. So thanks to Sephora for sending it to me!

I really wish Make Up Forever would ditch the numbering system and use names. It would be so much easier to refer to their products. Anyway, I got these awhile ago when Sephora shipped this by accident instead of an eyeshadow I had ordered. Of course, I got to keep these so I wasn't mad at all.

So this is basically a deep dark chocolatey brown. I'm usually all about the black liner but sometimes you need something a little more subtle and this is perfect. At first I didn't think it would make much of a difference since I have brown skin but it does add a some definition.

I use it in the waterline because I'm not a big fan of using it as a lid liner. It is still there by the end of the day but it fades...ALOT. Which if I'm paying $19 for an eyeliner I don't want to happen. You can get the same results with a drugstore liner.

My favorite way to use these is as a base if I'm going for a brown smoky eye. I apply it, smudge it a little, then top it with some brown shadow. It seems to help the shadow last a little longer (I still use primer). 

Overall, it's OK. I probably wouldn't run out and replace it when I run out.
