I need to get up early tomorrow so I'm getting the post for today out the way. And then I'll probably drink a gallon of chamomile tea to help me calm down and relax enough to go to sleep while watching...something. Idk what yet. Anyway...I have a Dior perfume to review today. My second Dior perfume. This one has been on my want list for awhile. Pretty much ever since I started to love the scent of Jasmine and found out this was a primarily Jasmine perfume. I did buy and review the soap first so I already knew the scent.
Dior claims:
The outstanding floral women's fragrance from Dior is called J'adore. The bouquet of this Eau de Parfum is finely worked out to the last detail, like a specially created flower. The floral-fruity ylang-ylang essence and the essence of the Damascus rose from Turkey mix with the rare combination of French jasmine from Grasse and Arabic jasmine from India to form a fruity-sensual fragrance.
"J'adore is an extraordinary fragrance, because he succeeds in presenting himself seductively in an uncomplicated way, but with a unique signature.
Sensual, but not too heavy. This composition combines opposites by arranging legendary floral notes into an attractive, completely new and mysterious bouquet. J'adore invents a flower that doesn't exist at all."
François Demachy, Parfumeur-Créateur
Pear, Melon, Magnolia, Peach, Mandarin Orange and Bergamot; middle notes are Jasmine, Lily-of-the-Valley, Tuberose, Freesia, Rose, Orchid, Plum and Violet; base notes are Musk, Vanilla, Blackberry and Cedar
The perfume bottle is as feminine as the Dior J'adore fragrance itself. He picks up the sensual curves of the legendary amphora that Christian Dior once created and wears the famous Maasai necklace, which is reminiscent of a piece of jewelry around a woman's neck.
Made in France
This smells just like the soap. I knew it was supposed to..but was surprised at just how exact they seem to smell. J'adore is an iconic fragrance that came out in 1999. It's the perfect example of a fruity floral. The only other perfume from Dior I have tried was Miss Dior. I have heard that different fragrance houses have the same "DNA" running through them and when I smelled this and thought about Miss Dior- I can see that it is true.
I have read that it was reformulated- I can't speak to the original. But it smells more modern in comparison to a lot of the scents I have been reviewing the last couple of years. I was reading that some think this scent is old fashioned which really blows my mind- this smells very modern to me. Fruity, Fresh, Floral, Clean, and Aquatic. It has very pretty Jasmine notes. But I definitely get strong notes of pear. Those are the main notes I get. I see a lot more listed but this is basically a pear jasmine fragrance to me. It just makes a really good basic everyday scent. I can't see this blowing anyone's mind..it doesn't for me. It's just a nice fragrance. I like it. I can't see myself repurchasing after my bottle is gone though. I do have a large bottle...and I will definitely enjoy the rest of it. I might even try of the other iterations of the scent. But once it's gone I don't need anymore in my collection.
It does seem to last a long time. Or at least it did when I first got it. I think I have started to go nose-blind to it. I really only smell it the first couple of hours when I use it now.
I love the bottle though. It's funny how I can see bottle in store and think it's ok. When I get it home, it's like I really see the bottle and this one had me as soon as I took it out the box. I don't have anything else similar. Something about the gold rings wrapped around it I think? Maybe the bottle shape? I think I might like the design of the bottle more than the juice inside.
Overall, I think it's a fine everyday floral scent for those that like Jasmine. Not terribly unique or memorable. But I'm glad I got to add it to the collection. It's nice to use a more modern fragrance after all the truly old fragrances I have reviewed and used lately. After this one is gone, I am thinking about purchasing Le Labo Santa 33.
