One more post for today and then I am done. I bought a perfume oil sampler from the Mason Louis Marie brand. I have heard really great things about them and heard this is supposed to be a dupe for the le Labo Santa 33 scent which is on my to buy list next. From what I have read most people think it smells similar- but it's missing a certain dill pickle note. I've never smelled the Le Labo scent so I can't tell you how close the scents are...but I am going to review this one.
Mason Louis Marie claims:
Sandalwood, Vetiver, Amber Wood
I love the idea of a perfume oil. Have to be really intentional with application...and they are nearly impossible to overdo. Which I am very guilty of. You get a decent sampler amount which is nice so you can really test it. I applied this multiple times over a few days to really figure out how I felt about it.
This is a really unique scent. At least to me. It smells very natural....and the main notes I get are cinnamon. So much spicy cinnamon. It also smells a little coconut like to me.I'm not a fan of coconut so that's not my favorite but luckily the spice overpowers it. And then...something else that makes it more complex. But still the overwhelming note is cinnamon. It's not a "me" fragrance". Every time I put it on, I just think how nice it would smell on a man. I think it is unisex though. I just tend to not like the more unisex fragrances on myself.
It is a more muted scent. It's not loud when you put it on, it doesn't grow or develop and change, and I feel like I go nose blind to it within an hour. But that's OK. It's easy to just roll on more.
It is a popular scent- and it does come in multiple forms on the website. It comes in a candle, a hand cream, body and hand lotion, body and hand wash, home diffuser, body oil, deodorant, mini travel set, and a perfume discovery set. I did get a sample of the perfume that you spray and to me they smell identical. I can't smell a difference.
When I looked at reviews for it, I did see multiple people mentioning the dill pickle scent. And I get that when I I think about it...but to me I don't smell it and immediately think-PICKLE! So that's good, I was worried about that.
One thing I don't really like is the packaging. I like the bottle..it looks clean and nice. But I don't like the actual rollerball. Metal rollerballs are so much better than the plastic ones which I find tend to catch and not apply evenly. . If I had a metal one small enough to fit, I would have switched it out.
This perfume oil is not for me...but I wouldn't mind trying the candle out. I did buy one candle from them and although I'm not a big fan of the scent- the quality of the candle is great. Especially for the price! I will definitely be buying more from them and can't wait to get through the rest of the perfume samples.
