I'm in denial about it being Winter time. It is already so cold. Last night I just about froze on my way home. Anyway, just a quick post today. Maybe I'll do two. Not sure yet. In between I've been watching the youtubers- and I've seen some videos about donating food to your local pantries if you have it. I like to keep it light here. But there is a lot going on in the US- food insecurity with SNAP Benefits being affected by the shutdown (which is NOT the Democratic Parties fault) . Children are going hungry. Adults are going hungry. And the Elderly are going hungry. No one should have to go hungry. I need to figure out where and how I can donate some food since I live overseas.
It always feels like a flip flop to talk about something so serious and then go back to talking about Essential Oils which are really quite frivolous. Maybe I should have created a stand alone post.
Plant Therapy claims:
Woodland starts with a co-extraction of Virginian Cedarwood essential oil and a French Pine resinoid. The unusual process of co-extraction results in a deep, rich, smokey aroma with fruity black currant top notes and fir and balsamic undertones. This rich aroma makes it ideal as a base note when combined with other woodsy or floral oils.
Reminiscent of sitting outdoors around a fire, Woodland is perfect for the winter season (or any season you want that deep, smokey aroma) and for DIY men’s body products. It can be used in a beard balm, aftershave or moisturizer. In addition to providing a lovely masculine scent, it’s also beneficial for helping rough and reddened skin. If you’re suffering from the dreaded chapped winter skin, dilute to 2-4% in a carrier oil or lotion and apply to affected areas to help speed up relief.
Woodland can also help ease congestion and support a healthy respiratory system, which is much needed during the winter months. Add a few drops to your diffuser or dilute in a carrier oil to create a chest rub and enjoy the respiratory benefits next time you’re feeling stuffed up.
I still have a lot of Plant Therapy oils. Still making my way through them. I chose this one to try and use up. And get to know a little more about Cedarwood. It's a pretty popular oil. It can be used for Stree Relief. To repel those pesky moths. I recently bought some Cedar to add other my closet. You can use it in DIY cleaners and it's great for skin and hair. This also has Pine in it. Although I forget that it's supposed to be in here. Pine is great for much of the same things.
I didn't realize I had this oil for such a long time. I've had it for at least 5 years. That's a long time.
I just don't really know how to use it.
I tried it in a blend with Bergamot to see if would bring on sleep. And not really.
I tried it in a DIY foaming soap. And it was OK. I think I need to mix it in with something and play around with it as a blend.
The last thing I've been using it for is a room spray. And I do like it like that.
I almost forgot to describe the scent- it's very masculine. For some reason it reminds me of Turmeric powder. I don't know. When I really take the time to inhale it and think about the scent- it is a very woody scent. And very reminiscent of a Sauna mixed with an outdoor fire of fragrant fire wood. It's really an interesting scent.
The webpage shows a recipe for a balm that can help chapped skin. I might try to make a body butter with Shea Butter. I'm not a fan of making balms because I hate melting beeswax down. It's a chore. It's just this, frankincense and a little lavender. I probably won't use their blend of butters and oils. I'll just use what I have.
It's been an interesting oil to play with. I don't feel compelled to buy it again but it's been an interesting one to play with. I still have quite a bit left so we probably won't see the next Essential Oil review for quite a while.
