Chagrin Valley Woodland Breeze Coconut Cream Deodorant Review

Horrible, neglectful blogger reporting to blog. It's that time of year when writing posts has gotten away from me. It may have something to do with one of my favorite shows being back. I love the show The Resident. Anytime there is a show that portrays my fellow people of color in a positive light...I will watch. Now there are three very intelligent, successful black doctors on the show. The latest...Morris Chestnut. Who was basically my first love (in my head.) Idk how that man is still fine. He literally looks exactly the way he did when I was in the 8th grade. And I'm 30 now.

Anyway.....deodorant review.

Chagrin Valley claims:
An organic cream deodorant made with soothing ingredients that effectively neutralize odor and plant-based powders that help absorb wetness, so you stay fresh naturally.

Our organic Woodland Breeze™ coconut silk cream deodorant is a soft solid that readily absorbs into your skin. Stay fresh naturally with a warm, refreshing scent loved by men and women too!
  • Moisturizing virgin coconut oil has natural antibacterial properties that naturally and effectively help neutralize underarm odor
  • Silky organic arrowroot powder soothes skin and absorbs perspiration
  • Baking soda raises the pH making the underarm less friendly to odor causing bacteria
  • The ingredients in this recipe, like coconut oil and shea butter, will melt easily with body temperature
  • Essential oil blend has a warm scent with earthy and light citrus notes and has antibacterial properties to help prevent odor

I tried and reviewed the clay one first. Which did not work in the slightest for me. I still have it because I'm not really sure how to go about using it up. The baking soda kind is stronger. But can cause irritation...especially if you are darker complected. I have issues with baking soda but I haven't had a full on rash. But then again I don't really use it consistently. It does make my skin more noticeably rough though.

I tried using this in the summer months and it didn't work at all. I kept trying and trying and no go. So now that the weather is a lot cooler I have decided to pull it out again and it's working much better. It doesn't last a full day of on the go...but most of it. In cooler weather especially.

I have found that it helps to leave a layer of it on the skin as opposed to rubbing it completely in which it how the directions state to use it. It took me quite a while to figure that out.

It's slightly gritty, easy to work with, and smells like Cypress essential oil. I really like the scent of this one (I didn't enjoy the scent of the clay one at all).

Ingredients:
Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Arrowroot Powder, Baking Soda, Organic Virgin Shea Butter, Organic Beeswax, Organic Bergamot Essential Oil, Organic Cypress Essential Oil, Organic Juniper Berry Essential Oil

Overall...I like it in the cooler months. Not so much in the summer. I don't think I would buy it again though as for the price tag I would like it to work better. I think I could make my own DIY Deodorant that would equal the effectiveness of this one.

But I'm glad I tried it and knocked out my curiosity of the product.

I've been watching Family Matters and found this clip hilarious so I thought I would share.
