Cheddar Turkey Buttermilk Biscuits

Since I'm going to be in the house a lot more, I think I'm going to be spending a lot of time cooking. I usually try to cook something about once a week, but I'll definitely be stepping my game up. This coming weekend I plan on making some buttermilk pancakes, spinach omelet wraps with homemade tortillas, and a shrimp curry.

Last week, I didn't make much though. Just...pizza (homemade pizza dough of course) and these biscuits. Cheddar biscuits. Which are new to me.

I switched up the recipe a bit. Instead of powered cheese, I used fresh grated. I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting the powdered one. Nor the expense when regular cheese is so easy to get.

Instead of arugula I used romaine lettuce. It was mega cheap since it was on sale and I love romaine lettuce anyway. I also used turkey instead of ham. I don't eat ham. I don't have red pepper jelly either and didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to get my hands on it.

They browned nicely. I also forgot to brush them with melted butter. Whoops!

So basically I made regular sammiches on biscuits. It probably would have been amazing with fried chicken- which I was going to make at first until I got lazy.

They were pretty good. Not a very strong cheese taste. Mostly like regular biscuits but they were good. Worth trying out, not my favorite biscuit ever, but nice.

To go with it I had a side salad and veggies. I'm trying to be healthy. Except the biscuits.

You can find the recipe here. I got the recipe from King Arthur Flour. I'm slowly cooking through all their biscuit recipes.
