There are some brands that seem like they are on their way out. Max Factor is one of them. They have been out of the US for quite some time and I remember when they had a set up in Walmart and I really wanted to try their mascara but for some reason never ended up getting it. And then they left the US market. I recently found this in my local drugstore and decided to give it a whirl.
The Max Factor brands has a very interesting history. But these days, it just seems old, non-inclusive (much like it's start), and stale. I'm surprised it's still making it. I likely won't be purchasing it very often- maybe just an occasional mascara.
Max Factor claims:
The favorite of all make-up artists when it comes to voluminous and dense eyelashes? The Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara provides up to 300% more volume and is extremely durable thanks to its waterproof and smudge-resistant texture. It is also perfume-free and thus the perfect volume mascara for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
Made in England
This is a nice mascara. The first couple of weeks it was just ok. As it dried up more and more, it actually works really well. I get voluminous dark lashes and they stay looking the way they were when I fresh applied it.
It's a traditional brush, which tend to be my favorite. It's also very large and a little easier to make a mess if you aren't careful.
It doesn't weigh my lashes down and keeps a curl. No flaking/no smudging. But I don't typically have issues with mascara smudging.
The only con is that it dries up quickly. It took a little bit to work perfectly and then it had a good run for a few weeks but seems like it is just continuing to dry out. Short life span for a mascara.
Other than that I really like it. My lashes are on the thin side, very short, but numerous and slightly curled for reference.
Oh, it's not scented but for some reason it does smell like chocolate or brownies. IDK why or if it's just me, but thought I would mention it. Might just be the natural smell of the ingredients.
It's also easier than most newer mascaras to wash off. I never go for waterproof because it is harsh on my lashes and hard get off.
Overall, it's a very nice mascara. The only reason I don't see it going on a favorite list is because of how quickly it dries up.
