Aveeno Stress Relief Moisturizing Lotion Review

I just finished the last of this so before I chuck it into the recycle it's time to review it. I always mean to try more Aveeno. I remember back in the day I would read Essence magazine and they always had ads for it. A couple years ago I tried a few things-including the body wash. I didn't really like the body wash- so I expected to not like this but the scent isn't as bad.

Aveeno claims:

Unwind as you moisturize your skin. This unique formula combines the calming scents of lavender to help calm and relax while providing long lasting moisture.

  • Stress relief moisturizing body lotion

  • Helps calm, soothe, relax & moisturize skin

  • Prebiotic oat and lavender scent

*We appreciate your feedback and can confirm we recently made changes to our Aveeno® Stress Relief line. As sensitive skin needs continue to evolve, we work to ensure our products evolve with them. Our new fragrance has been designed to be gentle for your skin, while still providing a lavender scent that helps you feel calm and relaxed.

Good for: Dry skin

Texture: Nourishing lotion

It's definitely not any kind of Lavender scent I would recognize. It's just a pleasant, nighttime floral kind of scent. I don't mind the scent and find it really nice to apply after a night time shower and then head to bed. I don't think it's stress relieving. You would probably be better getting an actual bottle of Lavender and mixing it into some unscented lotion.

Surprisingly it does have Lavender extract. I've used a few drugstore Lavender products that didn't contain Lavender whatsoever. They get points for that.

As for moisturizing- it is. I am using it in the summer though so it's not that challenging to keep my skin hydrated. I don't ever feel I have to re-apply though.

I do feel like I have to use more than other lotions so I went through this rather quickly. I find that to be true for most drugstore. The higher end stuff lasts longer but the price of this is affordable so I can't complain too much.

The ingredients aren't my favorites. I don't like moisturizers that contain dimethicone. Yet so many of them do. And I prefer to avoid petrolatum. But I bought this knowing those were in here. The only ingredients I see that are good for the skin are the oats and the Lavender extract.

Ingredients:

Water Glycerin Distearyldimonium Chloride Petrolatum Isopropyl Palmitate Cetyl Alcohol Dimethicone Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour Benzyl Alcohol Fragrance Lavandula Angustiflora (Lavender) Flower Extract Sodium Chloride

The packaging is made with 40% recycled plastic. That's good. But it could be better.

Overall, it's OK. I won't buy it again (realistically I very rarely repurchase anyway) . It was just something on my list to try.
