Rusk Calm Shampoo and Conditioner Review

I had every intention of writing this yesterday, but I started working yesterday. I got no sleep whatsoever. But I came home and worked out and then made dinner (Shrimp Alfredo with homemade Alfredo sauce-YUM). Then I re-twisted my hair. Which came out awful, by the way. So I was going to blog. But then I just went to bed. Today, I'm reversing the order that I'm doing things to make sure I get this post up. So here goes....

Rusk claims:
Shampoo: Troubled? Stressed? For the hair that fits this description, here's a shampoo for damaged hair that can help. Replace hair's natural moisture balance and moisturize and smooth hair with rich guarana and ginger extracts. Rusk Sensories Calm Guarana and Ginger Nourishing Shampoo - great for hair - the rest is up to you
Conditioner: Even thick, coarse hair can be tamed with this conditioner for damaged hair. Vegetable protein and natural emollients strengthen and moisturize while maintaining body and a healthy shine. De-stress damaged hair with Rusk Sensories Calm Guarana and Ginger Nourishing Conditioner.

So let's start with the shampoo. It smells great but the scent doesn't linger. I like to catch whiffs of my shampoo at least up to a day after washing, but it does smell nice when I'm scrubbing. It gets my hair super clean. It almost feels stripped but then it feels moisturized after a bit more rinsing. I like the shampoo. I prefer it over the conditioner.

The conditioner doesn't smell as good as the shampoo. I kind of hate when you use matching shampoo and conditioner but they don't smell the same. It's OK. But doesn't provide nearly enough moisture for my hair.

After using them together I notice my hair is a little easier to detangle than it might otherwise be.

It's not all natural, like what I usually go for. I just found these bottles around the house and thought I would go ahead and use them up. Why not?

Ingredients:
Shampoo-Water (Aqua, Eau), Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, PEG-150 Distearate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Fragrance (Parfum), Glycol Distearate, Polyquaternium-10, Steareth-4, Citric Acid, Panthenol, Sodium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Methyl Gluceth-10, Magnesium Nitrate, Sodium Benzoate, Alcohol, Allantoin, PPG-33-Buteth-45, Tris (Tetramethylhydroxypiperidinol) Citrate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Hedychium Coronarium Root Extract, Propylene Glycol, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Magnesium Chloride, Methylisothiazolinone, Glycerin, Zingiber Offi cinale Root Extract, Paullinia Cupana Seed Extract, Ext. Conditioner-Water (Aqua, Eau), Cetyl Alcohol, Diisopropyl Sebacate, Behenalkonium Chloride, Fragrance (Parfum), Tridecyl Stearate, Neopentyl Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Disodium EDTA, Amodimethicone, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Propylene Glycol, Behenyl Dimethylamine, Cetrimonium Chloride, Trideceth-12, Magnesium Nitrate, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Zingiber Officinale Root Extract, Paullinia Cupana Seed Extract, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Sodium Benzoate, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Hedychium Coronarium Root Extract, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Magnesium Chloride, Butylene Glycol, Methylisothiazolinone, Ethylhexylglycerin, Limonene, Linalool.

In conclusion, it's OK. Nothing I feel compelled to go out and purchase. Especially since they will run almost $45 for the larger bottles of shampoo and conditioner together and I definitely don't think it's worth the cost. It was just nice to try.

My song of the week is De La Soul Me Myself and I. I go so hard whenever this comes on my shuffle. There is nothing that beats Golden Age Hip Hop.
