Aura Cacia Geranium Essential Oil Review

I can't wait for this weekend. I feel like I have a lot of sleep to catch up on. Sleep...and I think I want to go see the new Bad Boys movie. But only if I manage to watch the first two first. I was a little young when the first one came out...but I do remember when the second one came out. I snuck into the movie theater to see it. I don't remember much about it though, I was just so excited to be able to sneak into the theatre!

Anyway..let me stop rambling about movies and start rambling about oils!

Aura Cacia claims:
Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) essential oil is versatile, practical and effective in a wide variety of applications — from cleaners and detergents to lotions and body care products, to outdoor patio sprays. It is often compared to rose essential oil in its usage but its aroma is distinctly geranium — fresh, green and softly floral. The oil is also used in perfumery. Compared to other oils, it is relatively new to this realm, having only been used since the mid-19th century.

Aura Cacia Geranium Essential Oil typically comes from Egypt and China. It is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and flowering branches.

  • product features

    • Geranium essential oil is soft, warm and floral. It blends well with many other essential oils
    •  including lavender, patchouli, rose, sandalwood, jasmine, juniper, bergamot, neroli, clove,
    • cinnamon, and ylang ylang.
    • Geranium essential oil is considered a middle note.

I only bought this because I had a coupon from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and was determined to use it-so I ended up getting this oil at a great price. I've had it a couple of years and still have over half of the bottle left.

But that's mostly because I don't use it often. And a little bit goes a long way.

I just don't like the smell. It smells kind of like rose...but not really. I think the first time I smelled it was in a bath bomb I had from Lush a few years back called Tisty Tosty. Or something like that. I'm too lazy to look it up.

It is a strong oil. And it has many uses. It's great for skin, hair, and that time of the month. I've heard it's supposed to be mood balancing. I don't really think it helps with that. It can be uplifting when I diffuse it closer to my time of the month. But I still go through emotional extremes for about a day or two.

What it does do is seem to shorten the length my "Aunt Flo" comes to visit for. I usually have a 2-3 day period. When I use this they seem to shorten to about 1-2.5 days. And it doesn't seem to be heavier either.

I'm thinking of combining it with Clary Sage because that helps with cramping- which luckily I don't get that bad or even very long (1-4 hours at the most). But I notice using Clary Sage eliminates cramping completely. So between the two...can't really go wrong. But I haven't tried combining them yet.

I have used it in a facial oil. It was nice but I didn't use it long enough to really notice any difference. It's said to be great for mature  and oily skin. I might try it again after I use up some of the other oils I have up.

I've tried mixing it to make it smell more appealing. The best I've found so far is mixing it with some type of orange, I like it with Ylang Ylang, and I also really liked it with Lavender. But none of these combinations are ones I love, they just make the Geranium oil smell a bit better.

I notice their website says from Egypt or China- mine is from China.

I like having it in my collection. I may always keep it in my collection because it does have its uses. I just wish it smelled better to me! I may try Plant Therapy' version to see if I like that better when I finally go through this bottle.

Random:
I've been sleeping on this song from Ella Mai. I finally listened to the whole album this weekend and I can't get enough of this song.
