I love Johnny Gill. If you watched the New Edition movie, you saw a little of his story. It's been a minute since I've seen it but there was a part where they tried to play him about his skintone- which is crazy because he has beautiful skin. And that voice ....♥️
If you listen to his voice when he was really young, it's crazy how deep it was. I love deep voices.
Anyway...these are the songs on my Johnny playlist. I recommend them. Highly.
First off My, My My. I think everyone knows this song but it's a classic. Especially this performance. I've never seen Oprah's audience so hype. The church wave was hilarious- must see to believe. And at 1.50 in he does that Luther Vandross thing 🤣
This version is banging too.....I don't think I own a red dress. 🤔
True Story, I slept on this song until I heard it when I was watching Family Matters. Then I went on to listen to it 50/11 times. I'll just re-start it over and over again. Love it! It's There U Go from the Boomerang soundtrack.
Rub U The Right Way was a late discovery for me. I was shook when I saw Johnny Gill could move so well. So much talent AND singing live.
I Love Fairweather Friend as well. Another Babyface penned classic (He wrote My, My, My and There U Go). Babyface and Johnny Gill, working together...what could be better? Nothing.
A reunion with a fellow member of New Edition? Yes please. It's Your Body is another classic. I love the 90's.
I'm Still Waiting is another song that hits right. Don't sleep on it.
Last song in my playlist is Long Way From Home. He always looks so sharp with his suit on and knows how to work the crowd. He hit some notes in this song, I love the recorded version, that's a must listen as well!
Bonus:
It's too early for Christmas music BUT this a must on my Christmas playlist.
Happy Listening!
