Herbivore Bamboo Charcoal Detoxifying Soap Bar Review

I did a post about a week ago of my new "workout" plan and I actually completed my goal for this week. I couldn't decide if I wanted to update in a separate post or just on whatever post I was doing on Sunday's. I think I'll do it this way until I'm ready to change the program out. I have about another week of the one I'm doing. I worked out everyday...and of course I had that first week body soreness...that is luckily going away now.  I'm ready to take on this next week. But first...a blog post.

Herbivore claims:
Gentle yet effective, Bamboo Charcoal Cleansing Bar Soap works especially well to clean and care for oily, combination and blemish-prone skin types. Each bar is unique and hand-crafted with love.

Recommended for: Bamboo Charcoal Soap is suitable for all skin. Especially beneficial for oily and combination types. Can also be used as a body bar.

Target concerns: + Blemishes
+ Appearance of pores
+ Skin-balancing

Bamboo Charcoal has been used for centuries in the Far East, purifying and cleansing the skin of dirt by drawing impurities from deep within pores. Gentle enough to use as both a facial and body cleanser.

Scent:
Citrusy bergamot and clay
Texture:
Solid bar soap, lathers into a rich, luxurious foam
Color:
Black with white flecks

I think I came across this soaps on the Nordstrom site. Completely natural soaps aren't something you would usually find there..but Herbivore seems to have a little popularity. I thought this would be a good summer facial soap due to the tea tree and charcoal. I've used a few charcoal soaps now, they are ideal for oily/ combination skin which is my skin type.

This one is $12 for four ounces. You can definitely get a better deal from quite a few companies for a similar soap. Chagrin Valley has a comparable one (haven't tried it) and I really like Zum's Charcoal soap. The Zum one is only about 5-6 dollars for 3.5 ounces. Not completely the same but- same thing.

I can't find the picture I took before I cut it..the bar is a little bigger than pictured.

It smells Ok. Kinda tea-tree and citrus...but nothing overpowering. When you are using it on your face you can smell the mud/charcoal smell. Its nothing bad, I just noticed the same scent in other charcoal mud soaps.

I like it now that it's warmer. Sometimes I get "heat bumps" on my face. And this gets rid of them. It cleans makeup off really well. Get's nice and bubbly. Rinses clean and is only slightly drying in the colder months. Summertime it works perfectly.

I feel like using it makes my skin clear, smoother, and a little brighter.

It comes in nice packaging- easily recyclable box. It's cruelty free, made in the USA. All that good stuff.

And it will last forever. I just cut off smaller pieces to make it last even longer.

Ingredients:
Cocos Nucifera Oil, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil, Elaeis Guineensis Oil, Charcoal Powder, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Leaf Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Kaolin

Overall,  I would recommend it BUT there are better deals for a similar soap- although for a s long as it lasts it doesn't break the bank at all.
