The first meal I made was Harrisa Fish with Bulgur. My favorite. The fish was really good. I almost never make fish dishes. This one had fish that came all the way from South Africa. And it was good. Sometimes the fish I get in the local stores is a bit chewy/rubbery and this wasn't! I really liked the Harrisa seasoning and the bulgur was simple and excellent. I definitely want to cook bulgur more! The only thing was no leftovers and I wanted a whole fish filet to myself. The yoghurt sauce was surprisingly easy and really good.
The next dish was a Mexican Sweet Potato dish. This really seemed like a weird mix of...just whatever. Baked sweet potatoes with kidney beans (not black beans?) and canned corn. I really hate canned corn. I always prefer frozen over canned. It just tastes so strange in the can. I thought maybe this dish I wouldn't notice but..yeah. Not a fan of canned corn. The seasoning was off. It was a lot of work with making the salsa, the "guacamole", and the lime sour cream. I did really like the lime sour cream though. Will definitely make that again. Then you top it with cheese. Which I almost forgot. It just tasted like a big hot mess. Not sure I would get another Mexican dish from them.
And lastly a Chimichurri Burger with Mozzarella cheese and potato wedges. I loved the burger I got from them last time. This one I kinda dried out accidentally. Whoops! I also kinda burned the bread a bit. But it was fine cause I scraped off the burnt parts. I made the chimichurri according to directions..and I don't like all the parsley taste. I don't know..it just didn't come out as great as the balsamic pear one. I felt those toppings worked better together.
So this time I was 1/3. But still had fun cooking through the recipes! Hopefully I like next week's box more.
