The Body Shop Warm Vanilla Softening Body Butter Review

Last of the holiday butters. In vanilla. The Body Shop used to make my favorite vanilla scent a few years back...then they discontinued it. And now it looks like it may be back. I might need to check it out actually.

Anyway....they seem to release a vanilla scent every year for the holidays. I think my favorite has been the vanilla bruleee body butter. This one is nice...but it wouldn't make my faves.

The Body Shop claims:

What does it do for me? Give your skin some serious TLC all Christmas with our nourishing, special edition Warm Vanilla Body Butter. Slather on a creamy dollop of our body moisturiser. It melts into skin to leave it feeling smoother, softer and nourished with 24hr moisture. Take in that warm, addictively sweet and festive vanilla scent. Made with vanilla extract from Madagascar, handcrafted Community Fair Trade shea butter from Ghana and Community Fair Trade sesame seed oil from Nicaragua, this sweet, seriously buttery treat is the perfect little Christmas gift or stocking filler.

  • Special edition body moisturiser
  • Perfect for normal to dry skin
  • Nourishes skin with 24hr moisture
  • Smells like Christmas
  • Vegan
  • Made in Germany

This one seems to be a mix between their old school vanilla scent and the Macadamia Body Butter they have a few years back. It's nice. But nothing amazing or unforgettable or must have about it. It also smells like that Vanilla Duo they had a few years back too. A mix of three throw back vanilla scents.

As with all of the body butters it is very moisturizing. And it lasts. No need to re-apply. Also it doesn't take too long to sink in, even now that it is crazy hot.

I don't really notice this one lingering around unless I sniff my skin directly. If you do that, then it does stick around fora few hours. But very, very lightly.

The ingredients are nicer than most, still nowhere near natural. I'm happy to see at least the first three ingredients are really good- Cocoa, Shea, and Glycerin. They also do have their fair trade program and a new program for recycling plastic/reduce plastic waste which is always good to see.

Ingredients:

Aqua/Water/Eau, Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter/Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil/Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Parfum/Fragrance, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone, Glycine Soja Oil/Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Benzyl Salicylate, Coumarin, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Tocopherol, Citric Acid, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract, Caramel, CI 19140/Yellow 5.

Overall, it was OK. I would prefer the old version they released years back. It will probably be popping up in your local TJ Maxx and Ross if you live in the states. That's how I used to alway get mine. Of the three they released for Holidays 2020, the Festive Cranberry was by far my favorite!
