Dove White Moisturizing Beauty Bar Review (US Version)

I really can't wait for this year to be over. I'm still struggling. I was in bed pretty much the whole day yesterday, kinda felt myself slipping into it today..I decided it's OK to let myself be sad (understatement) but I need to take control. So I sat around thinking about what I could do instead and I came up with a plan. And it's helping. It's not perfect. But as long as I'm doing the best I can..that's all the matters.

Anyway..Dove White.

It was the soap I grew up using. The soap that you could always find in both of my grandmothers homes. I used it as a child, as a teen, and then as an adult a little bit before I ditched it. I was tired of it. But..I decided to just get a two pack and re-live it again

Dove claims:

LOCK IN MOISTURE: The classic Dove White Beauty Bar nourishes and pampers skin to give you softer, smoother, more radiant looking skin than ordinary bar soap.
RICH HYDRATION: Help maintain your skin’s natural moisture barrier and hydration with this beauty bar ideal to use as a facial cleanser and body wash for sensitive skin.
#1 DERMATOLOGIST RECOMMENDED: Formulated with mild cleansers and ¼ moisturizing cream, Dove moisturizing beauty bar leaves skin instantly soft and smooth with lasting nourishment.
GENTLE CLEANSING The luxurious lather of this Dove Beauty Bar won’t dry skin like ordinary bar soaps. It’s gentle enough to use every day on both body and face.
THOUGHTFULLY MADE: This beauty bar is PETA-certified cruelty-free so you can feel good about switching from ordinary soap to Dove Beauty Bar.
CARE AS YOU CLEAN: The cleansing efficacy and care you need, all in one beauty bar product.

Dove White Beauty Bar combines a gentle cleansing formula with our signature 1/4 moisturizing cream to hydrate and nourish skin, instead of leaving skin feeling dry and tight like an ordinary bar soap might. Dove mild cleansers help skin retain its natural moisture, which helps keep skin hydrated, and Dove Beauty Bar even helps replenish skin-natural nutrients that can be lost during the cleansing process.

Use your Beauty Bar as a facial cleanser or as a gentle skin cleanser for your body and hands. For best results, rub between wet hands and massage the smooth, creamy lather over your skin before rinsing thoroughly. The secret to beautiful skin is moisture, and no other bar hydrates skin better than Dove. That’s because Dove isn’t a soap; it’s a Beauty Bar. Formulated with mild cleansers that care for skin as you cleanse, this moisturizing bar helps deliver nourishment and leave your face and body feeling soft and smooth and looking more radiant than ordinary soap does.

Our vision is of a world where beauty is a source of confidence, and not anxiety. Our mission is to help the next generation of women develop a positive relationship with the way they look, helping them raise their self-esteem and realize their full potential

Not too long ago I reviewed the Dove Original that is made in Germany. They are completely different. Dove from Germany is more scented and also vegan. While the US version is more mild- not as perfume-y and made with Animal Tallow.

Opening it up, it has that classic Dove look. A curvy, white bar with the Dove logo in it. The shape makes it super easy to hold.

The scent is just Dove. It's mild, and very clean.  Also impossible to describe. I was so tired of the scent back in the day. Now using it, it's nostalgic. Reminds me of baths as a kid, and every shower I took for probably the first 17 years of my life.

The lather is nice. It's super thick and plentiful from a little bit of soap. But I go overboard with the lathering. Can't help it.

It's not drying. Or moisturizing. It mostly leaves my skin feeling normal. But every now and then when it was cold I remember my skin being a little dry.

I'm a fan though. My grandmas knew good soap.

I think it came out back in the the 50's. The main marketing is the quarter moisturizing (cleansing)cream. Every advertisement they said that. I know because I love watching old commercials. "Dove Creams your skin". Makes no sense, just a bunch of marketing buzz words.

It's gotten some hype lately as a facial soap. I would try it every now and again. But I just can't see myself using it on my face regularly at all. I really do prefer a natural face cleanser. It could also be I tried it back in the day and remember breaking out...that was a long time ago and likely my skin would react different. But...I'll stick with my regular cleanser.

The ingredients don't have a single ingredient I'm excited about using on my skin. But...that's Dove.It never claimed to be natural..but probably good for those that have skin that prefers more synthetic cleansing. Or allergies.

Ingredients:
Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Sodium Tallowate Or Sodium Palmitate, Water (Aqua), Sodium Isethionate, Sodium Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Cocoate Or Sodium Palm Kernelate, Fragrance (Parfum), Sodium Chloride, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Tetrasodium Edta, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891).

As far as drugstore, Dove is the most expensive classic type of soap. Ivory, Dial, Coast, Irish Spring are all  a lot more affordable unless you find a sale and use coupons. But I think this might be my favorite.

It's a classic for a reason.
