Dove Purely Pampering Relaxing Lavender Beauty Bar Review

We've hit the hottest part of summer. It's so hot now I can't get to sleep. Luckily early this morning I got a few hours, but I was getting so sleep deprived I hit that point where I get cranky/emotional/with attitude, which is rough because I'm an Aquarian and we hate being emotional. Or at least I do. Anyway, Lavender is the miracle essential oil used for relaxation and calming. I saw this a couple months ago and was a little shocked, Lavender is not a scent I would have ever thought Dove would do. Anyway, I was more interested in it after I tried the original Dove Beauty Bar and really, really liked it. So I picked this one up

Dove claims:
Effectively washes away bacteria while nourishing your skin

• Beauty bar with lavender and chamomile fragrance

• ¼ moisturizing cream helps to protect your skin’s natural moisture

• Doesn’t dry out your skin like soap can

• Dove Beauty Bar is #1 dermatologist recommended

• Leaves skin softer, smoother and healthier-looking

• The perfect addition to a relaxing bath or shower
If you ask us, there are three ingredients for a relaxing bath: candles, your favorite chill out playlist and, most importantly, a product that leaves your skin feeling indulged. With our Purely Pampering Relaxing Lavender Beauty Bar, you can transform your skin cleansing routine into a truly relaxing experience.

With the soothing scent of lavender and chamomile, this creamy beauty bar is the perfect solution for how to pamper yourself at home. Made with our ¼ moisturizing cream, this beauty bar doesn’t dry your skin out like soap can; instead, you can enjoy a pampering session that nourishes your skin and relaxes your mind.

Mild and sulfate-free, our formula cares for your skin to help retain essential moisture and nutrients. So, after every shower, you emerge from the bathroom feeling relaxed and soothed, with softer, smoother, even more beautiful skin.

This particular scent it pretty pricey. I bought a four pack for a little over 5 dollars, which means each bar was around $1.38. Not really expensive in comparison to the all natural bars I've bought in the past or just the soap bars from Lush. But definitely more pricey when you think about it as just a drugstore bar.

I had high expectations and was pretty let down.

I've only opened up one so far and was disappointed it came all broken up. The original one I bought was in perfect condition. Just not the best presentation.

But the light purple color is fun.

And the scent it horrible.

Commercial Lavender scented beauty products are usually a miss for me. They never smell anything like Lavender, which had me believing I hated Lavender for years. This doesn't even remind me of lavender a little. It does have a tiny hint of that Dove scent that is ever present in all Dove beauty products. I really hate the scent of this though,  to me it's as bad smelling as most bug sprays. It's not calming at all. In fact, I think it has the opposite effect.

The scent sucks- but the lather is nice. It's rich, and thick and keeps going and going. And it's not drying on my skin. But I don't think it's the most cleansing soap, wouldn't be my pick for after a workout.

The ingredients are all synthetic. It's not soap, hence the name "beauty bar" so it's a synthetic detergent bar. It's not vegan/vegetarian friendly as it does contain animal fat. And it has no Lavender whatsoever. No Lavender Essential Oil, no Lavender buds. The Lavender is completely synthetic.

Ingredients:
Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate, Stearic Acid , Sodium Tallowate, Sodium Stearate, Water (AQUA), Lauric Acid, Sodium ISETHIONATE, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium Cocoate, Fragrance (Parfum), Sodium Chloride, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Dipropylene, Glycol, Red 33 (Cl 17200), Blue 1 (Cl 42090), Titanium Dioxide (Cl 77891)

So, in conclusion I hate it. I've only used it about 5-6 times and knew from the very first lather I wasn't a fan. And I have three more bars to get through 😭 I might just end up using them as a hand soap. Or giving them away.

If you are in the market for a Lavender soap I would recommend Biggs and Featherbelle Mama Bar or the Schmidt's Lavender Sage soap over this.

This video ❤️. Ciara is definitely the best dancer of this generation. They were missing a few clips but I had so much fun watching so I thought I would share.
